Chapter 308: Chapter 308 : Succession To The Throne (3)
"Ooohhh!!!"
Needless to say, Xie Jianyu’s Imperial Seal was the authentic one.
Xie Jianyu calmly retrieved his Imperial Seal and tucked it away safely.
He then pinned Xie Jianzhi with a stare.
"Xie Jianzhi, do you still need the Grand Chancellor to check the authenticity of your Imperial Seal?"
The crowd turned to look at Xie Jianzhi and the Heavenly Empress, their judgmental eyes were difficult to overlook.
"It was not my fault!" The Empress cried out all of a sudden. "I was forced! This crazy man killed the Emp..."
Before the Empress finished what she wanted to say, a flash of gleaming metal pierced the air. The Empress’s once vibrant presence faltered, a grimace of surprise and pain spread across her beautiful face before she toppled forward and crashed against the pristine marble floor.
"AHHHHHHHH...!!!!"
The palace masters and other heavenly officials quickly retreated in fright to keep a safe distance between them and Xie Jianzhi.
Zhang Fengxi stepped in front of Xie Jianyu, his Three Realm Spear tighly clutched in his hand.
With the blade in his hand still gleaming with the Empress’ blood, Xie Jianzhi kicked at the lifeless body at his feet ruthlessly.
His face twisted into a grotesque sneer, his lips pulled back to reveal a row of sharp, jagged teeth. His eyes, once hesitant and full of restraints, were now glazed over with madness, their depths ablaze with a malevolent fire.
Xie Jianzhi raised his head, his gaze sweeping across the frightened people gathered before him and lingering on each trembling form with a sadistic glee. His sneer widened, revealing a glimpse of the darkness that had consumed his soul.
"What a nuisance," he said in a low voice as he took out his fake Imperial Seal and smashed it against the floor. The jade broke into two from the impact of the smash.
"You two siblings are too annoying," he said as he pointed at both Xie Jianshen and Xie Jianyu. "As omegas, should you not just stay back and give birth? What do you want the Dragon Throne for? To sit on while you nurse your children?"
His own words amused him greatly that he started to laugh like a crazed man.
"Eunuch Lu, don’t just sit on the floor!" Zhang Zhiyuan snapped at the eunuch. "Alert the guards! We must protect His Majesty at all costs!"
Eunuch Lu nodded like a broken doll. He scrambled to his feet, made a huge berth around Xie Jianzhi and ran out of the hall.
Xie Jianzhi did not try to stop him. He merely scoffed at the eunuch in disdain.
One by one, the palace masters unsheathed their weapons. They stepped forward and built a flesh barricade in front of Xie Jianyu and Xie Jianshen, with Zhang Fengxi standing valiantly in their midst.
"Ck, ck, ck..."
Xie Jianzhi observed them one by one.
"Do you really think that you can win against me? Oh wait."
Xie Jianzhi slapped his hand against his forehead.
"You must think that you can gang up on me because I am alone. Well..."
The alpha snapped with his fingers.
"Come in, all of you."
Tension filled the air when the demonic creatures from the Demonic Realm filed into the room, their heavy leather and metal boots clinking loudly as they moved.
They did not come alone. Each demon had a prisoner with them.
The palace masters widened their eyes when they saw who the prisoners were.
"Zhuquan!!!" Song Weiyang was livid with rage. He wanted to rush forward to claim his son, but Zhang Fengxi stopped him.
"Uncle, don’t!" He said.
"That’s Zhuquan, my son!" Song Weiyang roared. "Demon, release my son at once!"
"Father, help!" Song Zhuquan started shedding tears the moment he saw his father. "Please help me! They suddenly kidnapped me! I didn’t do anything! I knew nothing!"
Song Zhuquan was only one of the approximately thirty prisoners whom the demons managed to capture. Many of them were heirs to the palace master seats, or at the very least close family members of the palace masters.
Soon, the hall was filled with anguished calls as the palace masters and heavenly officials recognized their offspring and close relatives among the kidnapped ones. Most of them were very young, thus defenseless against the demons.
At the end of the demon procession, three figures stepped into the hall.
The first one was the Three-Eyed Realm Wanderer, who avoided to look at Xie Jianyu and Zhang Fengxi.
The second one was Liu Wenyuan, who flashed them all a self-sufficient smile after he lowered his hood.
The last one was none other than the First Demon King, whose blackish, poisonous demonic aura crackled around him like a living mist.
The ruler over the Demonic Realm looked in Xie Jianyu’s direction.
"Long time no see, Crown Prince," he said. "You have grown a lot lovelier from the last time I saw you."
Xie Jianyu clenched his jaw but said nothing in return.
Xie Jianshen’s eyes followed Liu Wenyuan’s form as he stepped next to Xie Jianzhi and held his hand. The alpha and omega exchanged smiles.
"I introduce to you the new Empress of this empire," Xie Jianzhi announced to the petrified crowd. "My beloved wife, Liu Wenyuan."
Liu Wenyuan radiated an aura of abashed joy. It was as if he had not just revealed himself as a traitor who betrayed the Heavenly Realm and colluded with the Demonic Realm to bring ruin to the empire.
He acted as if he just stepped into the heart of his own wedding celebration, and the others were there to congratulate him on this most joyous occasion.
"Traitor!" Someone called out.
"Traitor! Traitor! Wuyang Palace is a traitor!"
"Kill the traitor!!!"
A chorus of voices swelled, denouncing Liu Wenyuan and his birth palace. Xie Jianzhi’s eyes flashed with malevolent glee as he listened to the uproar. With a commanding gesture, he gave his demonic minions permission to act.
The demons’ eyes glowed with a sinister red light as they seized their unfortunate captives, dragging them into a grotesque dance of pain and terror. With sickening crunches and splats, the demons’ sharp, bladelike claws pierced the flesh of their victims, their cries echoing through the halls like a symphony of anguish and despair.
