Chapter 266: Chapter 266 : Escape To The Human Realm (3)

Xie Jianyu stared at the young man in front of him.

The short, scrawny boy that he remembered from the past was gone. His once-thin legs had gained strength and definition. He stood nearly as tall as Xie Jianyu now, his head held high with confidence.

"Ah Yan?"

Ah Yan’s eyes widened in surprise when he came to remember the big brother who stood before him.

"Ahhhhh!!! Young Master, it’s you!!!"

Just like the mountain robbers, he too thought that Mingyu was Xie Jianyu’s lover.

"Young Miss, hello!" He bowed before Mingyu. "My name is Ah Yan, very nice to meet you."

Ah Yan glanced around curiously, his eyes darting back and forth. He was looking for someone, but they were nowhere to be seen.

"Uh, Young Master, are you alone? Where is the other young master?"

He was referring to Zhang Fengxi.

Xie Jianyu’s chest grew stuffy when he thought about the husband who tried to kill their child.

"He is not here," he snapped.

Ah Yan blinked at him awkwardly. The two young masters had an interesting relationship with each other. He remembered that they were generally quite friendly with each other, but then they also bickered a lot.

The two young masters had not changed at all. Ah Yan could not help but smile.

"Young Master, where are you heading to? If you don’t mind, why not spend the night at our house? Mother would love to see you again."

"..."

He had expected to travel further south with Mingyu, but fate had other plans. They ended up landing in the forest just near Rainbell Town.

Xie Jianyu cast a glance at the shivering maid next to him.

"In that case, I apologize in advance for intruding," Xie Jianyu said.

Ah Yan grinned from ear to ear.

"What are you talking about, Young Master? You left us an entire restaurant! Didn’t you promise to come back and take a look at how it is going? Oh, you will be stunned. I have a lot to tell you..."

Ah Yan chattered endlessly on their way to Rainbell Town. Xie Jianyu and Mingyu listened to him attentively until they arrived at the town entrance.

The sight that greeted Xie Jianyu robbed his breath. He had seen this town in its broken and desolate state, a place where the air was thick with the smell of hunger and despair. Elderly people wandered the streets aimlessly, while children turned to crime to survive.

But now, Rainbell Town had flourished into a glorious state. Vibrant colors adorned the buildings, and the streets were bustling with activity. Merchants hawked their wares, children played with laughter, and families strolled hand-in-hand. The air was filled with the aroma of delicious food and the sound of cheerful conversation.

Xie Jianyu could barely believe his eyes.

The Water God and the Wind God must be so offended that the human beings managed to go so far without their divine assistance.

Xie Jianyu walked the familiar, but also unfamiliar path toward the Orchid Alley.

The restaurant used to stand alone, a lone sentinel amidst a wasteland of rubble and ruin. But now, new buildings sprouted up all around it, like seeds that had finally taken root in the barren soil.

To the left, a grand teahouse rose up, its graceful curves and intricate carvings a stark contrast to the stark simplicity of the restaurant. To the right, a massive inn loomed over the street, its sturdy walls and towering roof promising comfort and shelter to weary travelers.

And in between, new houses had been built for the town residents, who had undergone a massive change as well.

They walked the streets with heads held high and straight backs, their eyes sparkling with pride and hope.

They fully enjoyed the fact that they were no longer the downtrodden people of a broken town. They were now the proud citizen of the thriving Rainbell Town.

The exterior of the restaurant remained the same, its simple yet elegant facade a familiar sight in the bustling town square. But inside, the restaurant had undergone a rigorous transformation.

The once-austere interior had been transformed into a warm and inviting space, with soft lighting, comfortable seating, and tasteful decorations. The furniture placement had been altered to create a more intimate and inviting atmosphere, with tables and chairs arranged in small clusters around the room.

When the three people entered the restaurant, a waiter hurried over to greet them. He was a young man with a nervous demeanor. He fidgeted with his hands and avoided eye contact, his voice trembling slightly as he spoke.

"Young Master, the Madam is VERY, VERY displeased with your disappearance. Before she denies you any lunch, you should sit at one of the tables. I will bring you your food. And, oh..."

The waiter stared at Xie Jianyu and Mingyu with a look of dumbfounded disbelief. Xie Jianyu was dressed only in his inner robe, his dark hair dripping wet and clinging to his neck. Mingyu was wrapped in a gaudy outer robe that was far too big and too long for her petite figure, its bright colors clashing with her pale skin.

Both of them were drenched from head to toe, their clothes dripping water like a pair of soggy sponges. It was as if they had just stepped out of a river.

The waiter’s mouth opened and closed, but no words came out. He had never seen anything like it in his entire life.

Ah Yan cleared his throat.

"Brother Zhu, our guests need a change of clothes. Let me sneak into the storage room, my mother does not need to know..."

He hadn’t even finished his sentence when a woman’s cold voice cut through the air behind him. It was low and even, but there was no mistaking the rage simmering beneath the surface. She was barely able to contain it.

"Does not need to know what? Ah Yan, you are getting naughtier and naughtier with age! Let’s see if you can keep up after I am done with you!"
