Chapter 264: Chapter 264 : Escape To The Human Realm (1)
"I don’t know!" Qingyun sobbed as she knelt on the stone pavement. "Your Highness, I really know nothing!"
Xie Jianshen sat on one of the cushioned chairs in the inner courtyard. His gaze fell on the plum blossom tree that stood tall and strong like a lone mountain amidst the green, neatly trimmed grass field.
He extended his hand in front of his chest catching a flower petal as it drifted by.
"Qingyun, I am not a patient person," Xie Jianshen said as he rubbed his thumb against the flower petal. It curled up in his hand easily from the repetitive motion.
"You are one of my brother’s favored maids. I do not want to do anything that I might regret in the future."
Qingyun broke into a wail.
"But Your Highness, I really... I really don’t know where His Majesty went off to! Please, please spare me!"
Xie Jianshen squished the plum blossom petal in his hand. Face distorted in fury, he glared at Qingyun.
"If something happens to Little Yu while he is away, I will personally make you pay with your blood."
Qingyun cowered on the ground like a frightened small animal.
"Mercy, Your Highness," she begged under tears. "Mercy."
"Jianyu...!"
Xie Jianshen turned around and locked eyes with Zhang Fengxi, who just returned from the Golden Dragon Palace in a hurry.
"What are you calling him for?" Xie Jianshen scoffed. "He is not here."
Zhang Fengxi clawed into his head in exasperation.
"Jianbao... Where did you go?"
"Did you bring the lamp as I told you to?"
"Yes."
Zhang Fengxi removed the Heart Affinity Lamp from his waist and held it to Xie Jianshen’s eye level.
"Wonderful, let’s start searching, then," Xie Jianshen said with a scowl. He proceeded to head toward the palace entrance gate, but Zhang Fengxi’s subsequent reply stopped him in his tracks.
"It is useless," Zhang Fengxi claimed.
Xie Jianshen squinted at the alpha.
"What do you mean?"
Zhang Fengxi clenched his fists and swallowed hard. He tried to remain calm, but his body was betraying him. His heart was racing, his breathing was ragged, and his stomach churned with anxiety.
The flame within the lamp burned with an unwavering orange color. It was the color of Zhang Fengxi’s spiritual power.
"Jianyu did not leave any traces of spiritual power behind."
Xie Jianshen widened his eyes in disbelief.
"What in seven hells are you talking about? He was here this morning! How could there be no traces at all???"
Zhang Fengxi did not answer Xie Jianshen. He walked with the lamp toward his and Xie Jianyu’s bedroom instead.
Within the confines of this room, they rolled around night after night, their bodies a tangled mass of limbs and flesh. They plundered each other with the ferocity of insatiable beasts, their desire overflowing and their passion burning like wildfire.
And yet, as Zhang Fengxi expected, this room too contained no trace of Xie Jianyu’s spiritual power.
"Well???" Xie Jianshen demanded.
"None."
Zhang Fengxi shook his head.
It was almost as if Xie Jianyu never stayed in Fuxi Palace.
"Your lamp must be broken," Xie Jianshen’s eyes narrowed as he glared at the little lamp in Zhang Fengxi’s hand. He looked like the Heart Affinity Lamp had just stepped on his foot.
"It is not broken," Zhang Fengxi said.
"Cultivators can hide their spiritual presence at will."
Xie Jianshen had never cultivated, so he was naturally ignorant of such matters. But one thing he knew for sure was that Xie Jianyu had done this deliberately.
The omega cursed under his breath. The last time they had managed to find Xie Jianyu was only because he had been kidnapped, not because he had run away. This time, he had chosen to flee. He did not want to be found.
"Gods in heaven. LITTLE YU!!!" Xie Jianshen’s fist slammed against the bedroom door, sending a shockwave through the wood. The ornamental lattice splintered like fragile glass, the shards scattering to the ground like autumn leaves.
"Your Highness!!!"
Xie Jianshen flicked his bloody hand angrily, sending crimson droplets to the floor.
While the servants were busy tending to his injuries, he raised his head and stared at Zhang Fengxi.
"What do you plan to do?"
"I will find him," Zhang Fengxi said with a tone full of determination. "I will find him and bring him back home safely."
At the inner courtyard, Qingyun was still kneeling on the ground. Zhang Fengxi’s words scared her. He did not mention the baby at all. He only talked about bringing Xie Jianyu back home.
Mingyu was right.
Zhang Fengxi did not want the child.
"Fine," Xie Jianshen heaved a sigh. "We will search separately. I am taking that girl with me."
Qingyun raised her head in shock. Xie Jianshen was pointing at her.
"I am sure that this bird still has a few songs left to sing."
Meanwhile, far, far away from Fuxi Palace, a dragon was flying toward the Human Realm. The weather was especially bad today. Dark clouds rolled in the sky, illuminated occasionally by thunderous lightning. The wind howled and whipped through the verdant expanse of trees beneath them, sending branches and leaves flying in a particular pattern toward the sky.
Xie Jianyu had been guiding Mingyu along the way, but for the past half hour, he had been oddly quiet.
In her dragon form, Mingyu could not talk. She kept moving her head to the left and right to stimulate any kind of reaction from her master, but nothing happened.
Fear gripped Mingyu’s heart.
"No way," she thought to herself. "Master... Did Master pass out???"
Xie Jianyu’s last instruction had been "move toward the south".
They had traveled a considerable distance into the southern region.
With eyes gleaming with determination, Mingyu gritted her teeth and plunged into the trees beneath them. She pushed through the dense foliage, her body buffeted by tree branches that slammed against her like whips. Sharp twigs scratched her scales, and thorns tore at her thick skin, but she ignored the pain. Her only focus was to ensure her master’s safety.
As soon as Mingyu landed on the ground, the omega behind her neck released her horns. Xie Jianyu tumbled to the ground in a heap of dried leaves.
His body was limp, his head lolled to one side, and his eyes were closed.
