"Qingyun, could Mingyu possibly misunderstand something?" he asked in bewilderment after Qingyun ended her story. "I have heard tales about alphas feeding abortifacient to omegas, but not when said omegas are married to them officially. Why would His Highness Prince Zhang Fengxi want to kill his unborn heir?"

Not to mention that Lady Song’s enthusiasm about her long-awaited grandchild was practically over the top. Lady Song might just flip out if she ever heard the word "abortifacient".

"Qingyun, where is my darling son-in-law?"

Both Qingyun and Head Servant Zhou flinched from hearing Lady Song’s voice. The elder lady had both hands against her hips, her lips pursed out of impatience.

"Well? I thought that we agreed he should not leave Fuxi Palace at all."

Head Servant Zhou and Qingyun blubbered like little children who were caught red-handed while stealing candies. Before the source of their distress was removed, another person came to cause further unrest.

"Little Yu is not in his bed chamber," Xie Jianshen remarked, squinting at the two betas in disapproval. "He is also not in the bathing area, the courtyard, or the bell tower."

Xie Jianshen addressed Head Servant Zhou directly. "Elder Zhou -- where is your master?"

Xie Jianzhi used to be impressed by Fuxi Palace’s red and golden gate that soared high from the ground, but the gate of the Golden Dragon Palace was simply breathtaking.

The tall and artistic arch made of precious white stone looked impressive with intricate carvings and palm-sized spiritual stones embedded within. They pulsed with an otherworldly energy, their ethereal glow illuminating the surrounding space.

The two guards who were standing at the mighty gate furrowed their brows when they watched the unknown person heading toward them.

Xie Jianzhi swallowed hard.

"I am here to meet the Heavenly Emperor," he announced.

The guards’ fierce expressions became even fiercer when they heard Xie Jianzhi’s words.

"And who are you to want to meet the ruler of the Heavenly Realm?" One of them bellowed rudely.

Xie Jianzhi clenched his jaw.

"I am Xie Jianzhi, one of the Heavenly Emperor’s sons."

The other guard’s booming laughter filled the air. He then claimed, "In that case, I am your grandfather. Get lost here, kid."

Xie Jianzhi’s lips trembled from anger. How dared these lowly guards treat him this way?

"You...!"

The guards glared at him.

"Go now, go!!!"

One of the guards grabbed Xie Jianzhi by his arm and pushed him to the ground.

"What is going on here?"

An elderly man’s voice was heard coming from behind the two guards.

They quickly bowed their heads and greeted him, "Wuyang Palace Master, it is nothing. This swindler tried to get into the palace claiming to be a prince."

"A prince?"

Liu Yichen scanned the alpha on the ground from head to toe.

"What is your name, young man?" he asked.

Xie Jianzhi rose to his feet with face burning from embarrassment.

When Xie Jianzhi passed by the two guards, he shot them malicious looks. Just wait, he thought to himself. He was going to make these two cretins apologize to him on their hands and knees.

Liu Yichen gave Xie Jianzhi a fatherly smile and a squeeze on the shoulder after Head Eunuch Wang left.
