Chapter 250 : Lady Song’s Prediction

Chapter 250: Chapter 250 : Lady Song’s Prediction

Xie Jianyu had one solution to every ailment, and it was meditation.

Despite Mingyu’s and Qingyun’s pleas for him to just bundle up and sleep throughout the day, the Crown Prince stubbornly dragged himself to his favorite meditation spot and stayed there for an entire evening.

Thus, Lady Song, who despite her youthful appearance, was actually an elder lady who was pushing fifty years old, had to drag her pesky gown with her as she climbed the high steps that led to the bell tower.

"Mother, I can ask Jianyu to come down," Zhang Fengxi said for the umpteenth time. "You don’t have to force yourself like this."

His words earned him a sharp glare from Lady Song.

"Don’t look down at me, young man!" She snapped like an angry phoenix she was. "Your mother just needs to exercise more. Not that I do not exercise! I am a phoenix! I can fly up to where Little Xie is just fine. I just don’t want to leave you behind!"

"...."

Sure.

And when was the last time Lady Song transformed into a phoenix, anyway?

.....

He suddenly recalled Xie Jianyu’s alluring appearance in his half-transformed dragon body last night.

Yes, best not to ask his mother that question.

He did not want to throw up the entire content of his stomach.

"Jianbao."

"Little Xi... I mean, Your Majesty!"

Both of them spoke in unison as soon as they caught sight of Xie Jianyu, who was sitting in a lotus position in the small pavilion.

His face was pale save for the red lips, and he was also sweating a lot from the warm sun rays that bathed the entire pavilion in a golden light.

Xie Jianyu opened his misty eyes. He expected to see Zhang Fengxi, but not his mother-in-law, who was panting hard from climbing the steps.

"Mother-in-law!"

Xie Jianyu rose to his feet and approached the duo.

"Why did you come up here? You could have sent Fengxi to notify me to come down."

Zhang Fengxi murmured, "That’s what I said."

Lady Song whacked him with a peacock fan that appeared in her hand in no time.

"Aiyah, this stupid son of mine is too foolish. Fengxi, your wife is not feeling well. Be a sensible husband and bring us a tray of warm tea and some of the fish cakes that we brought today, hm?"

Zhang Fengxi was about to say something along the lines of, "What about you two just come down and have your tea inside the palace?" but his mother’s terrifying glare shut him up.

"Yes, Mother," he said helplessly.

As soon as Zhang Fengxi left, Lady Song regained her vitality. She pulled Xie Jianyu to sit on a stone bench under a tree for a little talk.

"Little Xie, ah... How are you feeling right now?" She asked, ignoring her husband’s plea not to address the Crown Prince in such an informal manner.

Anyway, Xie Jianyu did not seem to mind at all.

The younger omega shook his head slightly in response.

"It is just a small fever. Mother-in-law does not need to be concerned."

Lady Song leaned closer and asked.

"I do not mean to be nosy, but -- by chance -- did you lay with my son yesterday night?"

Blood shot toward Xie Jianyu’s head, causing his cheeks to flush in embarrassment.

"I..."

"It’s fine! It’s fine!" Lady Song patted Xie Jianyu’s hands affectionately. "In fact, having a fever after an intimate encounter is definitely good news."

Xie Jianyu looked at his mother-in-law with confusion.

"Mother-in-law, what do you mean?"

"Well, you see..." Lady Song had a smug expression on her face.

"When a seed is successfully planted within an omega’s womb, the omega will usually run a fever."

"..."

Xie Jianyu parted his lips in astonishment.

Lady Song was worried that Xie Jianyu did not understand what she was saying, so she pressed a hand against Xie Jianyu’s flat stomach and stated cheerfully, "Therefore, I think that you are growing my precious grandchild inside your belly."

Precious grandchild.

An inexplicable buzzing sound filled Xie Jianyu’s ears.

He did not know whether it was the fever or something else.

Lady Song kept talking, but her son-in-law barely heard what she said.

"A baby?" Xie Jianyu asked in a soft whisper while Lady Song was going on and on about the do’s and don’ts when one was pregnant with a tiger baby. More than twenty years ago, she had to listen to an earful of information from her own late mother-in-law.

At that time, she just got pregnant with her son. Alas, the old lady did not live long enough to witness the birth of her grandchild.

Lady Song stopped talking and squeezed Xie Jianyu’s hands in delight.

"Yes!" she cried out. Tears welled up in her eyes. She was going to be a grandmother. If heaven had mercy, she might even be able to watch her grandchild grow up!

Xie Jianyu was speechless.

A baby.

He might be pregnant.

While Xie Jianyu was trying to digest this piece of good news, Zhang Fengxi arrived with a tray of tea and snacks.

Mingyu and Qingyun did not try hard enough to take over the job from him, so he had to carry the tray up the stairs himself.

"Fengxi, ah, you are so slow. I was just telling your wife the good news!" Lady Song chirped happily.

Zhang Fengxi chuckled.

"What good news, Mother?" He asked while he set the tray on a stone table just next to the bench.

"About the baby in your wife’s belly, of course!"

Zhang Fengxi’s face turned ashen. His fingers shook in distress. He had to ball them into fists in order to hide his growing restlessness. Hoping that he misunderstood something, he turned to look at his mother and asked, "Mother... What baby?"

"Aiyah."

Lady Song clicked her tongue at Zhang Fengxi in displeasure.

This son of hers was not only slow but also dumb.

"I am saying that your seed has finally taken root in Little Xie’s womb. Fengxi, ah... You are going to be a father."

Lady Song’s words made Zhang Fengxi’s heart turn cold. When Lady Song envisioned the day she held her grandchild in her arms, all Zhang Fengxi saw was the cold body of his wife in an ice coffin.

Pale-faced Xie Jianyu with blue lips and eternally closed eyes.
