Chapter 243: Chapter 243 : The Xie Bloodline (4)
Xie Jianzhi said that he was about to reach his twenty-fifth year of life. That being said, he was born many years after Xie Jianshen and several years before Xie Jianyu.
It did not take a genius to understand what happened in the past. The Heavenly Emperor cheated on his first Empress and had an affair with the Qing omega. No one knew how long the affair lasted, but it was enough for her to get pregnant and give birth to a son, whom they both raised together.
Until Xie Jianzhi was three years old.
And then something happened.
Maybe his mother died and the Heavenly Emperor decided to abandon his illegitimate son.
Maybe the Empress found out about her unfaithful husband’s affair and forced the Heavenly Emperor to put Xie Jianzhi into an orphanage.
Either way, it remained an undisputed fact that Xie Jianzhi was the current Heavenly Emperor’s direct descendant. He was, additionally, the only other male alpha in the family.
One that was suitable to take over the Dragon Throne.
Zhang Fengxi felt numb from head to toe.
How much did Xie Jianshen and Xie Jianyu find out after visiting the Palace Registry Office?
Possibly nothing.
Or everything.
And if they found nothing, what should he, Zhang Fengxi, do with this scandalous information?
Tell Xie Jianshen?
Tell Xie Jianyu?
Or do nothing?
Xie Jianyu won the right to the Dragon Throne fair and square. The only other person who could remove him from the position was his own, biological, cheater of a father.
The question was rather -- would the Heavenly Emperor choose Xie Jianzhi over Xie Jianyu?
The alpha let out a guttural groan, startling the spiritual tiger that he was riding.
"Rowr?"
Xiao Huang turned his head slightly out of concern. Zhang Fengxi responded by massaging the back of the tiger’s neck.
"I am fine," he said.
The same could not be said about Xie Jianyu once he found out the truth.
Zhang Fengxi had wanted to go back to Longjing Palace after a busy day of work, but he decided to head to Fuxi Palace instead.
Whether for work or anything else, his wife was most likely in his own palace.
When Zhang Fengxi arrived, he was greeted by Mingyu and Qingyun. Both maids looked terrified.
"Prince Zhang Fengxi! Thank heavens that you are finally here!"
Zhang Fengxi furrowed his brows. He could hear the sound of something breaking some distance away.
"What happened?"
Mingyu choked with sobs.
"His Majesty, he... He is not himself."
"..."
Zhang Fengxi’s heart went cold.
"His... His Majesty is very upset," Qingyun sobbed. "Please, Prince Zhang Fengxi, can you do something? Anything. Master is probably injured but he won’t allow us to come in..."
Zhang Fengxi took long strides and headed toward their shared bed chamber.
He barely slid the door open when a pillow shot at his face. Zhang Fengxi barely dodged it.
"I SAID... LEAVE ME ALONE!" Xie Jianyu screamed angrily.
Zhang Fengxi was stunned.
"Jianbao, it’s me."
"..."
The room was dark, illuminated only by the sunlight that seeped through the door crack.
The bed chamber was practically in shambles.
Xie Jianyu had broken the bed, ripped the cupboards off the wall, and scattered all the contents on the floor.
The decorative vases and plates were shattered on the ground, and the fresh flowers that the maids put inside every morning were lying in a puddle of water, amidst broken pot sherds.
Xie Jianyu was sitting at the farthest corner of the bed chamber, hugging his legs and pressing his face against his knees.
Zhang Fengxi smelled blood.
Xie Jianyu was indeed injured, probably when he was hit by the broken shards when he ran amok.
"Baby?"
Zhang Fengxi stepped into the room, but then Xie Jianyu raised his voice.
"Leave me alone."
"Jianbao, will you not even let me accompany you?"
"..."
"Sweet love, it’s fine if you don’t want to talk. Just let me take care of you."
Zhang Fengxi wanted to turn on the lamps, but they had been smashed into pieces as well.
When he took out a fire talisman to light a candle, Xie Jianyu spoke, "I don’t want it."
Zhang Fengxi tried his best to put on a charming smile.
"Baby, won’t you allow me to take a look at you?"
"No," came the decisive answer.
"..."
Zhang Fengxi approached the omega in the corner. Gently, he draped his arms around Xie Jianyu’s body.
It was shaking from grief.
Xie Jianyu was crying silently. Every drop of tears he shed was akin to a stab into Zhang Fengxi’s heart.
"Sweetheart..."
"Don’t tell me again that it is all going to be alright," Xie Jianyu snapped with a hoarse voice. "It is never going to be alright."
And so, Zhang Fengxi kept his opinion to himself. He dragged Xie Jianyu to sit on his lap and cradled him like a baby.
Xie Jianyu flinched when Zhang Fengxi took his hands.
His fingers were bleeding from the shards.
Zhang Fengxi clicked his tongue in displeasure.
"My baby’s beautiful fingers are hurt. What should I do?"
Zhang Fengxi lifted the bloody fingers to his lips. Spiritual power flowed from his kiss, healing the cuts gradually.
Xie Jianyu closed his eyes and leaned against Zhang Fengxi’s broad chest. The alpha was relieved when he felt tension slowly drained from the omega’s body.
Zhang Fengxi brushed against Xie Jianyu’s forehead with his lips, hoping to ease the pain in his beloved’s heart with his caresses.
Huddled together in the darkness, the married couple remained silent. Only the sound of their shallow breathing could be heard, along with occasional kisses and hums.
When he felt good enough, Xie Jianyu opened his eyes and started to talk about his elder brother, his father, his mother, his father’s secret affair, and the illegitimate son that resulted from the affair.
The secret of the Xie family that until recently was kept hidden from the Xie siblings.
It all started when Xie Jianshen, the eldest and to that time only son of the Heavenly Emperor, differentiated into an omega.
