Chapter 222: Chapter 222 : The Jealous Husband (1)
As the distance between them dwindled, the air between them crackled with tension.
Eyes locked in a glaring competition, Zhang Fengxi and Jiang Muchen launched at each other as soon as they came close.
"Stop, both of you!"
Xie Jianyu put himself in the middle to stop the two alphas from ripping each other into pieces.
Zhang Fengxi wordlessly yanked at Xie Jianyu’s arm and pulled him toward his chest.
"Jianbao, did this idiot do anything to you?"
Jiang Muchen could sense his breakfast shooting up his throat.
Not because Zhang Fengxi just called him an idiot, but because he had the cheek to give his Little Uncle such a nickname.
"Jianbao???"
"Muchen, go home," Xie Jianyu spoke with a stern voice. "Now."
"I am not done with him yet," Zhang Fengxi said.
Xie Jianyu glared at his husband.
"I implore you, nothing happened. Don’t cause a fight while we are still on our marriage leave."
Zhang Fengxi took a deep breath to steady his nerves. Opposite him, Jiang Muchen’s face turned uglier and uglier with the passing minutes.
Zhang Fengxi ran his hand down Xie Jianyu’s back and locked him in a possessive embrace while looking straight at Jiang Muchen’s face.
"Jiang Muchen, I shall let you off this one time because my wife insists on it. Keep in mind that Jianyu is my wife officially. The next time you dare lay your hands on him, do not blame me if I cut them off on the spot."
Jiang Muchen gritted his teeth.
"Zhang Fengxi, hearing you call Jianyu your wife makes me sick," he spat out one word after another. "You do not deserve him."
It was those words again.
Zhang Fengxi would love to cry out that he knew all that.
He did not deserve Xie Jianyu, but so what? He was trying his best to earn Xie Jianyu’s love in this life, and this belligerent fiend was not making it any easier for him!
"Muchen, I don’t want to hear anything from you anymore," Xie Jianyu decided. "If you are not leaving, we are."
At the end of his words, he dragged Zhang Fengxi away from the place. Jiang Muchen was left behind with a distraught face.
The couple climbed into their cloud carriage and headed back to Longjing Palace.
During the trip, Zhang Fengxi was no different from an ice statue. He kept his gaze trained outside of the window, while his facial expression betrayed nothing.
After enduring the deafening silence for some time, Xie Jianyu decided to talk about Jiang Muchen.
"Fengxi, I want you to forgive Muchen," he said. "Muchen was just..."
Zhang Fengxi’s sharp eyes shifted to Xie Jianyu. He then complemented the sentence that Xie Jianyu failed to complete.
"A child?"
Xie Jianyu’s lips were pulled into a tight line.
"He said inappropriate things out of familial care."
Zhang Fengxi scoffed.
"I believe it was more than that."
"Fengxi..."
"Jianbao, I heard everything."
"..."
"Don’t even try to deny it. He sees you more than just a ’Little Uncle’."
Xie Jianyu closed his eyes and heaved a deep sigh.
"Muchen is still immature..."
Zhang Fengxi reached out and squeezed Xie Jianyu’s chin. Xie Jianyu opened his eyes and stared into Zhang Fengxi’s. He could see cold rage smoldering within.
"Even immature alphas can bed my wife, you know."
If he did not arrive in time, what would have happened?
Zhang Fengxi used to believe that Jiang Muchen was not the type to force himself upon anyone, but look at what happened.
One fact remained undisputed.
Jiang Muchen loved Xie Jianyu.
He wanted Xie Jianyu.
He desired him in the most sinful way, in this life as in the previous life.
Too bad, Zhang Fengxi was not interested in handling his wife over to him.
"I don’t want you to see him anymore," Zhang Fengxi decided. "Not alone."
"Fengxi, he is family."
"He is an alpha who has eyes on my wife. Do you expect me to tolerate that?"
"... Fengxi."
Zhang Fengxi held a hand up. For him, the topic was over.
"I am your husband, Jianbao. Please consider my feelings."
Xie Jianyu tried to talk to Zhang Fengxi again during the ride, but the alpha’s cold and uninterested response left him dejected and discouraged.
When they arrived at Longjing Palace, Zhang Fengxi announced to Xie Jianyu that he was going to let off some steam via spear practice.
The Crown Prince thought about letting Zhang Fengxi cool down on his own, but it proved to be difficult when he was living in a new and foreign environment with the newlywed status hanging above his head.
"Greetings to Your Majesty," a maid curtsied as she passed by Xie Jianyu. Xie Jianyu recognized her as one of the maids who brought the chicken stew to him last time.
"Your name is Chengsu, right?"
Chengsu beamed at Xie Jianyu.
"Yes, Your Majesty. It is an honor that Your Majesty bothers to remember this lowly subject’s name."
Xie Jianyu shook his head.
"Never refer to yourself as a ’lowly subject’ anymore."
He knew all the maids, servants, and guards in Fuxi Palace by their names. Although a glaring status gap between them persisted, he loved and treated them as family. He would do the same in Longjing Palace too, after he got to know them one by one.
"Your Majesty, have you had the chance to take a look at the bedroom?" Chengsu asked.
"No."
"The bedroom has been tidied up as soon as Your Majesty and Prince Fengxi left today. Please feel free to call us whenever Your Majesty requires any assistance."
"Thank you."
"Your Majesty doesn’t have to yell. There is a small bell attached to the bedpost. Someone will come as soon as Your Majesty rings the bell."
"Yes, thank you."
"..."
Chengsu stared at Xie Jianyu with eyes full of hope. Xie Jianyu smiled awkwardly and said, "Then, I shall return to the bedroom now."
Chengsu bowed and said, "Wishing Your Majesty and Prince Fengxi a wonderful evening."
Xie Jianyu sauntered toward the bedroom in confusion. What did newlywed couples do during the seven-day marriage leave? Just stay on the bed and focus on getting pregnant?
What was marriage leave for?
Why must it last seven days?
Three days were more than enough.
"Jianbao, you are here."
Xie Jianyu froze at the doorway when he caught sight of Zhang Fengxi. The alpha was polishing the blade of his spear with a rag cloth. His murderous intent was barely concealable.
