Chapter 208: Chapter 208 : Xie Jianshen’s Request

The unusual gleam in Zhang Fengxi’s gaze must have revealed his intention, because Xie Jianyu pulled at his elbow with a frown.

"Don’t be too rough with Muchen," he reminded the alpha.

Zhang Fengxi pulled his lips into a thin line.

"Because he’s just a child?"

Xie Jianyu chuckled.

His smile was so beautiful that it instantly drove away all malicious intentions from Zhang Fengxi’s mind.

"He’s my nephew," Xie Jianyu emphasized. "He cares a lot for me. Naturally, I also care a lot for him."

Zhang Fengxi sighed.

"That is not what I want to hear," he complained openly. "You are not supposed to care for another alpha apart from me."

Xie Jianyu gave Zhang Fengxi a kiss on the cheek.

"I love you," he whispered. "Therefore, please be kind to Muchen."

It almost sounded like he would stop loving Zhang Fengxi if Zhang Fengxi decided to be unkind to Jiang Muchen.

Zhang Fengxi sighed. Xie Jianyu’s smile could lifted his spirits to the ninth layer of heaven, but his words had the power to smash him down to the bottommost layer of hell.

"Fine, fine," Zhang Fengxi said with an unhappy scowl.

He would be the kindest uncle-in-law to Jiang Muchen ever, Zhang Fengxi thought with a hint of sarcasm.

Zhang Fengxi expected to run into a bristling Jiang Muchen as soon as he exited Xie Jianyu’s private chambers, but the one who waited for him at the end of the corridor was none other than Xie Jianshen.

The Shuiran Palace Mistress was gazing at the lively view of the dragon clan’s territory from the bell tower when his eyes met Zhang Fengxi’s.

"Prince Zhang Fengxi, a word?"

Zhang Fengxi could feel his stomach tighten into a knot. The Xie siblings were somewhat alike on the surface, but when one knew them for a longer time, one quickly discovered that they were as different as night and day.

Xie Jianyu was pure and innocent, while Xie Jianshen was complicated and full of tricks.

Exchanging fists with Jiang Muchen would only result in heavy injuries at most, but stepping onto Xie Jianshen’s foot might just lead to a sudden, mysterious disappearance that ended with a tragic death.

Xie Jianshen took notice of Zhang Fengxi’s change of facial expression with delight. He loved it when people were afraid of him. It made things a lot easier.

"So, did you take advantage of my younger brother when he was injured?" Xie Jianshen asked with an amused tone. He knew the answer before he asked the question, but he was interested to hear Zhang Fengxi’s answer nonetheless.

"Not that it should concern you, but no. Xie Jianyu isn’t ready for a consummation."

Xie Jianshen flashed Zhang Fengxi a cynical smile. He hated it when someone other than him claimed to know anything about his younger brother.

"Your wedding shall take place in a few days," Xie Jianshen remarked. "Congratulations. I am thinking of giving you my congratulatory gift a little early."

"....."

Xie Jianshen was far from generous, so one must take his words with caution.

After careful deliberation, Zhang Fengxi decided to reject the early gift. If Xie Jianshen decided to kill him, then he wanted to die as Xie Jianyu’s husband and not his betrothed.

"No, thank you."

Xie Jianshen let out a mocking chuckle.

"Oh, don’t be ridiculous. What do you think I would do to you? Kill you in Fuxi Palace?"

Zhang Fengxi stared at him.

"I heard that you do not flinch from anything."

"Indeed, I don’t," Xie Jianshen said with a bright smile, as if proud of his notoriety.

"Don’t worry, I will not be the one to take Little Yu’s happiness from under his nose. Now that the big secret that you are supposed to guard has become common knowledge, I do not see any reason to keep the Gu Worm in your body anymore."

Zhang Fengxi could barely believe his ears.

Finally! Finally, he was going to be rid of the evil parasite!

"Shall we?" Xie Jianshen asked.

"Yes, of course!" Zhang Fengxi was more than ready to get rid of the Gu Worm.

Xie Jianshen let his hand hover over Zhang Fengxi’s chest. He closed his eyes and murmured a spell under his breath. At first, nothing happened. And then, Zhang Fengxi started to gag. He collapsed on the floor, his fingernails scraping on the pavement as he tried to vomit out the parasite that was traveling up his throat.

After the longest few minutes of agonizing pain, Zhang Fengxi retched and the wretched Gu Worm came out. It was a lot fatter than the last time Zhang Fengxi saw it.

The alpha reached out to crush the worm in his hand as an act of revenge, but Xie Jianshen was faster than him. The omega knelt next to him with an open wooden box in his hand. The worm quickly slithered into the box, and Xie Jianshen clicked it shut with a satisfied smile on his face.

"Thank you for being a good host to the Gu Worm these few years, Prince Zhang Fengxi," he said as if the Gu Worm was nothing but a harmless little pet that he entrusted to Longjing Palace for safekeeping while he was away.

"Thank you for the gift," Zhang Fengxi replied sarcastically. He peeled himself off the ground and patted the dust off his robe.

"I hope that we are done here."

A regretful smile spread on Xie Jianshen’s face.

"Sadly no."

Zhang Fengxi glared at the omega opposite him. If he was going to stick him with another parasite, he was not going to take it willingly.

Contrary to Zhang Fengxi’s expectation, Xie Jianshen had one simple but very important question for him.

"Prince Zhang Fengxi, do you love Little Yu?"

"With every fiber of my being," Zhang Fengxi answered without skipping a beat.

Xie Jianshen closed his eyes for a moment. When he opened them again, he came up with a bold request.

"In that case, I shall ask you to never let him conceive a child for you."
