Chapter 204: Chapter 204 : An Invitation That No Alpha Can Reject (1)

As the Crown Prince of the Heavenly Realm, he spent his time slaying deadly monsters, exorcising fierce ghosts, and fighting wicked demons. He already lost count of the many times he got stabbed, slashed, and poisoned.

He had faced many trials and tribulations in his life, but this was by far the most daunting challenge he had ever faced. And also the most shameful one.

Curled up on his bed, Xie Jianyu tried his best to drive away certain images from his mind. Unfortunately, these images kept popping in his head continuously, each one more depraved than the last.

Xie Jianyu knew where those images came from.

They hailed from the books that Xie Jianshen made him read back then in Compendium Pavilion. As soon as he brought them back to Fuxi Palace, he locked them up in a heavy crate and stored the crate in the most secluded corner of the palace’s storage room.

And yet, here were the books again, spawning out of nowhere to show him the lewdest illustrations from within their sinful pages. With Xie Jianyu featuring as the omega, and Zhang Fengxi as the alpha who plowed his body like a mighty bull.

Xie Jianyu’s cheeks burned from both fury and embarrassment.

No.

He shook his head desperately.

How could he?

He was the Crown Prince of the Heavenly Realm. He was supposed to rise above all the carnal temptation and set an example for the others.

...

For whom, now? The alphas or the omegas?

Xie Jianyu groaned into his pillow. Did it even matter?

He wanted to sleep.

He needed to sleep.

Unfortunately, the aphrodisiacs would not let him sleep.

Only a little, he told himself. Just a little.

He knew how to do it. He just never did it.

Xie Jianyu bit into his lower lip and grunted. There was only him in his private chambers. So what if he did something shameful? He would carry this secret with him to the grave. No one would know. No one would be there to condemn him.

But... arghhhh!!!

No. No, no. Just no.

Xie Jianyu clawed at his quilt.

He could not. He simply could not.

Being an omega was such an impossible burden, so he discovered that morning. He refused to give in to his burning lust, while at the same time unable to escape the physical urge to relieve himself.

It was such a predicament indeed.

One of many to come.

Xie Jianyu slipped a hand between his legs and grazed his aching, swollen stem.

He was close to tears.

How humiliating.

When his heat kicked in, he became nothing but a regular omega who yearned for an alpha’s touch.

Zhang Fengxi...

Tears fell from Xie Jianyu’s eyes.

Zhang Fengxi...

Xie Jianyu took a deep breath and pushed himself up onto his elbows. His arms shook violently, but he persevered.

He slowly dragged his body to the edge of his bed. He tried to sit at the edge of his bed, but then his wound acted up. The sharp pain that shot through his body caused him to lose his balance and fell from the bed unceremoniously.

"Arghhh... ahh..."

Too much. This was simply too much.

Xie Jianyu dragged himself across the wooden floor, using mainly his arms to move about. He moved toward a wooden cupboard that towered high above him.

It was split into two sections, and in the bottom left compartment, there was a small wooden chest that only Xie Jianyu was privy to.

It was full of his treasure, his most secret belongings. The few items that reminded him of his mother, and also...

Xie Jianyu’s fingers rubbed against the surface of a certain person’s inner robe. And then the dried pink orchid that was coated with the same person’s blood. And then the little messages that he sent in his handwriting.

Xie Jianyu kept them all.

He carefully took them out, rubbed his fingers carefully on their surfaces, and hugged them to his chest.

Zhang Fengxi...

A mixture of sadness, longing, and regret washed upon him.

Maybe this was all he could get from Zhang Fengxi. These little bits of happiness. Mementos of their time together.

It was enough.

He must not be greedy.

Xie Jianyu shed silent tears as he drew comfort from the things Zhang Fengxi left behind. They still carried his scent, however faint...

All of a sudden, the door to his private chambers slid open, letting a burst of morning sunlight in.

Xie Jianyu raised a hand to block the blinding light. Someone stood at the doorway, blocking most of the view. A tall and robust man with a familiar figure.

Xie Jianyu’s jaw dropped open in astonishment as if he had just been struck by lightning.

What sobered him were Mingyu’s and Qingyun’s frantic shouts.

"Prince Zhang Fengxi! Please do not disturb His Majesty!"

"His Majesty needs to rest!!!"

Zhang Fengxi did not have time to pay attention to the maids.

As soon as he opened the door, he was greeted by a burst of a familiar scent.

It was unmistakably Xie Jianyu’s.

The pleasant scent was usually very faint and barely noticeable. Zhang Fengxi had only smelled it on a few occasions when he was very close to the omega. When he held the younger man in his arms, for example. Or when he pressed his nose against the omega’s neck, close to his pheromone glands.

This time, despite the distance between them, the scent was fairly thick and concentrated.

Zhang Fengxi swallowed hard.

As soon as he took a deep breath, the sweet and alluring scent invaded his nasal passage. His brain intercepted the signal and interpreted it as an invitation to come closer. The scent clouded his mind, drove away every bit of hesitation, and awakened his primal instincts.

The instincts to claim his wife.

"Leave us," the alpha growled.

The tiny hairs on the maids’ neck and arms stood involuntarily. No words of objection came out of their mouths.

Zhang Fengxi stepped into the chamber and closed the door behind him with a thud.
