Chapter 193: Chapter 193 : Granny’s Blessings

The alpha issued a bold challenge.

Xie Jianyu narrowed his eyes at Zhang Fengxi in suspicion.

"You seem to be very confident."

Feigning ignorance, Zhang Fengxi shrugged.

"Am I? Weren’t you the one who said that we were not compatible with each other? Are you afraid that we are?"

Xie Jianyu sneered.

"Who is afraid? Just don’t complain if the scale does not tip in your favor."

Zhang Fengxi’s lips curled up in an amused smile.

Oh, it would.

It definitely would.

Xie Jianyu and Zhang Fengxi arrived at the Sun and Moon Temple a while later, each riding their own mounts.

Zhang Fengxi had already been there once, but it was Xie Jianyu’s first time. The curious omega barely had time to look around before the temple priests exited the inner chambers and greeted them with a bow.

"Welcome, honorable visitors. The Granny of Love and Devotion shall receive you at the Divination Chamber."

At the Divination Chamber, Granny of Love and Devotion was already waiting for them while sitting in front of her fortune-telling equipment.

When she saw Zhang Fengxi, her face lit up in joy.

"Prince, more than one year has passed. You have finally returned," she said.

Zhang Fengxi beamed at the deity. He squeezed Xie Jianyu’s hand and pulled him to sit next to him, just on top of the pillows that stood in front of the fortune-telling equipment.

"Granny, it is very nice to see you again. Today, I bring Crown Prince Xie Jianyu with me. Will you please bless us?"

The elder deity nodded fervently while beaming at both young men.

"Most certainly, most certainly."

Xie Jianyu widened his eyes at the elder deity. Did Zhang Fengxi deceive him somehow? Why did the deity agree to bless them so quickly?

The Granny of Love and Devotion shook a little bell to her side. Two priestesses in white entered the room, one carrying a bucket of water and one carrying a basket of flowers.

They bowed before the visitors and then stood behind the elder deity.

The Granny of Love and Devotion closed her eyes and mumbled something inaudible.

She then dipped her hand into the water bucket and took out a cherry tree branch. She flicked with her sleeves a few times, sprinkling water all over the two young men.

"Love between a husband and wife is like a well full of water.

It is deep but clear,

Its waters excessively bright and pure.

Two hearts are drawn together,

By Heaven’s will they seek each other.

A gaze into each other’s eyes suffice,

To see the paradise reflected inside.

May this union last forever,

Through good times and bad.

May this love flourish,

And give rise to a den full of warmth."

And then, she grabbed a handful of flower petals from the flower basket and threw them at the two young men.

"Just like a well in paradise,

Surrounded by beautiful flowers and fresh stalks of grass,

May this love never run dry,

And

May their love grow stronger

With each passing day.

May their well of love never run dry.

Affection and devotion carved into their hearts for all eternity."

The spherical object between them started to glow brightly. The Granny of Love and Devotion opened her eyes and scrutinized the images that only she could see. The elder deity paused for a moment before she glanced at the two young men in front of her.

"Endless blessings from Heaven are raining down upon us," she announced dramatically. "Crown Prince Xie Jianyu and Prince Zhang Fengxi, your deeply intimate relationship is written in the Book Of Fate. It dictates for the two of you to be married within this month.

The most auspicious date for the wedding is the nineteenth day of the month."

"..."

"..."

Zhang Fengxi’s jaw dropped open in amazement.

Xie Jianyu’s eyes turned round in astonishment. The astonishment soon gave way to a full-blown panic.

"Wait," he blurted out. "I do not want to get married yet!"

The Granny of Love and Devotion did not seem to share Xie Jianyu’s distress.

"Unfortunately, we should not go against Heaven’s will. Crown Prince, you have ten days to prepare yourself physically and mentally for the wedding."

The Granny then nodded toward Zhang Fengxi.

"To both Prince Zhang Fengxi and the Crown Prince, this old deity wishes to extend her most sincere congratulations on this blessed match. May your marriage prosper and give rise to a bountiful, happy family."

Once the Granny of Love and Devotion gave her blessings and foretold the most auspicious date for a couple’s wedding, the Sun and Moon Temple exhausted their service.

The priests who led them into the temple sent them off after giving them one scroll containing the auspicious wedding date complete with the Granny’s seal of approval.

The temple door then closed in front of their faces with a loud thud.

Zhang Fengxi and Xie Jianyu found themselves gaping at each other outside of the temple.

"Wh... what was that about?" Xie Jianyu asked. "What did she mean with... auspicious date... wedding..."

Zhang Fengxi cleared his throat.

"Well, to be very frank, a couple should only seek the Granny’s blessings in order to fix the wedding date, so..."

Xie Jianyu turned as red as a steamed crayfish.

"But I... we are not even in a relationship!!!"

Zhang Fengxi’s stomach hurt from seeing Xie Jianyu’s panicked reaction.

"Jianbao, you agreed to the challenge," he pointed out. "We received the blessings. Now, our compatibility should no longer be put into question."

"..."

Xie Jianyu bit into his lower lip in resentment.

"You tricked me," he then said.

Zhang Fengxi shook his head.

"Honestly, I didn’t expect it to happen so quickly. The so-called auspicious wedding date is not supposed to be within days of the temple visit."

"Ten days," Xie Jianyu murmured to himself. "Ten days. What will my father say? This is so..."

Zhang Fengxi put his arms around Xie Jianyu and pulled him into a hug.

"It’s going to be alright," he whispered. "Let me handle everything."

The Heavenly Emperor was going to suffer from a heart attack, Zhang Fengxi thought to himself as he held his future bride in his arms.

Today, he must be livid once he heard about Liu Wenyuan’s collusion with the First Demon King.

Tomorrow, he was going to receive a marriage proposal from Longjing Palace, complete with the official notice from the Sun and Moon Temple.

Let’s hope that his mood was more joyous and less murderous at the end of the day tomorrow...
