Chapter 182: Chapter 182 : Competing Over The Dragon Throne (2)

The fights within each of the sixteen groups did not last too long.

Zhang Fengxi’s first opponent was defeated after only three minutes. One encounter with the Three Realm Spear caused the poor beta to be flung out of the arena and land on the ground like a heap of junk.

Afterward, discouraged by what they saw in the first match, his next six opponents asked to remove themselves from the competition. The rest courageously climbed up the arena to face Zhang Fengxi, only to be blown away in a similar manner.

For all it mattered, their ego and pride remained intact. Unfortunately, the same thing could not be said about their battered and bruised bodies.

Thus, Zhang Fengxi emerged as a victor from group two without shedding even a droplet of sweat.

Since he was done with his group so quickly, Zhang Fengxi went to take a look at how the other groups were progressing.

Zhou Guiying, with his lax and unserious attitude, surprisingly became the winner of Group One. Zhou Guizheng, the Qingyuan Palace Master, seemed to be quite proud of his younger brother. Zhang Fengxi was glad to see Zhou Yunmeng sit next to her family and watch from the spectator benches.

She seemed to blend in perfectly with the mermaid clan, with two elder brothers to dote on her.

Group Three, Four, and Eight still had ongoing fights.

General Fu emerged as the winner from Group Five.

Song Zhuquan, Zhang Fengxi’s cousin and Song Weiyang’s son, rose as the winner from Group Six.

Wu Shenxia naturally finished her fights in Group Seven a while ago.

The two rivals met on their way to check out the performance of the second half of the groups. Group Nine to Sixteen occupied the arenas at the other end of the vast competition area.

"You finished quickly," Zhang Fengxi commented with a smile.

"As did you," Wu Shenxia nodded in acknowledgment. "I wonder how the Crown Prince is doing."

"I wouldn’t be too worried," Zhang Fengxi quipped. "One look at that lightning blade of his will surely make people tremble from fear."

Wu Shenxia laughed.

"Right."

Just as they expected, the fights in group fifteen ended a long time ago. While some other groups were still fighting, most of the spectators were watching the final fight in group nine.

Curious, Zhang Fengxi and Wu Shenxia also went over there to take a look.

In Group Nine’s arena, Jiang Muchen was fighting against an alpha that Zhang Fengxi did not recognize.

"Oh, my," Wu Shenxia’s facial expression grew tense when she caught a glimpse of Jiang Muchen’s opponent. "I did not expect him to show up here."

"Do you know him?"

"Yes. That is Fang Jiuyan. He is a sellsword, not only strong but also wicked."

"A sellsword, in the Heavenly Realm?"

Wu Shenxia humphed.

"He hailed from the Heavenly Realm, but he mainly operates in the Human Realm. I heard that he also did some jobs for the Demonic Realm before."

"..."

Wu Shenxia was not done.

"According to my intelligence, he has killed over one hundred people with his own hands."

Zhang Fengxi clenched his jaw.

When the Heavenly Emperor declared that the chance to sit on the Dragon Throne was open for everyone, he meant it. Even a lowly scum like this was allowed to join the competition.

Meanwhile, Jiang Muchen barely landed any attack with his sword. When he did, he missed most of the time.

It was not because his opponent was particularly good at dodging his attacks.

It was because there was something wrong with Jiang Muchen.

"Muchen...!"

Xie Jianshen’s shrill voice was heard when Jiang Muchen was flung out of the arena by his opponent with one ruthless kick.

A moment later, Xie Jianyu flew from the spectator rows and caught Jiang Muchen’s body with ease.

As soon as they landed on the ground, Jiang Muchen spat out a mouthful of blood.

He gazed at Xie Jianyu and opened his mouth.

"Li..."

"Don’t talk," Xie Jianyu said. He then tapped on various acupuncture points on Jiang Muchen’s body to prevent further bleeding.

Jiang Muchen’s opponent, the sellsword Fang Jiuyan, peered at them from the edge of the arena.

"It is my first time seeing Your Majesty from such a close distance. My deepest condolences for your transformation into an omega."

Xie Jianyu glared at him.

"This is a martial arts competition. Why did you use poison?"

Fang Jiuyan laughed.

"The usage of poison is not prohibited," he quipped with a snicker. "It is too late to add it to the competition rules, Your Majesty."

"You...!"

Xie Jianshen and Jiang Rufeng rushed to his son’s side as fast as their feet took them. The poison that Fang Jiuyan used was not lethal, but it was enough to render Jiang Muchen useless.

"You have won," Xie Jianshen glared at Fang Jiuyan. "Give him the antidote, now!"

Fang Jiuyan shrugged.

"Shuiran Palace Mistress, I heard that you are a capable poison master and antidote maker yourself. Why don’t you use this chance to test the limit of your proficiency?"

"You...!!!"

Fang Jiuyan sneered.

There was no rule stating that a participant must save his dying opponent, so it was not possible to disqualify him either.

Fang Jiuyan left the arena with booming laughter.

A hand tapped on Xie Jianyu’s shoulder from behind, followed by Zhang Fengxi’s voice.

"Jianyu, I have a small bottle of the giant centipede antidote that the Grand Tutor gave us."

Jiang Rufeng, Xie Jianshen, and Xie Jianyu whipped around and stared at Zhang Fengxi, who had already taken out said bottle from his qiankun bag.

"Please let Jiang Muchen have it."

Jiang Rufeng took the bottle with extreme gratitude, "Thank you, Prince Fengxi. We are indebted to you."

"No need to be so formal," Zhang Fengxi said. "Xie Jianyu, can we talk in private?"

Xie Jianyu rose to his feet and walked with Zhang Fengxi to a secluded corner.

"What is it?" the Crown Prince asked.

"He is the winner from Group Nine and you are the winner from Group Sixteen," Zhang Fengxi observed.

"If he does not lose to anyone else in the next few rounds, you are going to face him for sure."

"Correct."

"He does not hold back from using the dirtiest tricks to achieve his goals. You need to be prepared."

Xie Jianyu was a pure person who never strayed from his straight path. Facing such an opponent might just lead to his doom.

Zhang Fengxi took out an item from his qiankun bag and handed it over to Xie Jianyu.

"I want you to have this."
