Seeing Zhang Fengxi’s reluctant expression, Wu Shenxia had to laugh.

"Look, Zhang Fengxi. Whether or not Zhou Guiying is as bad as his reputation claims is a secret only known to him.

What I know is that, despite so many accusations from all kinds of omegas, he was never forced to marry any of them. That means that all those babies are not his. He must have a fool-proof method to check for their paternity."

Zhang Fengxi was too invested in Zhou Guiying’s awful behavior that he forgot about that very important point. Zhou Guiying had never been punished for his debauched ways.

Wu Shenxia sneered at him.

"If this is really going to be a martial art competition, then I want to win fair and square against you. You better sort out your mess and join the competition."

The two alphas shook hands in the spirit of camaraderie.

"I will not disappoint you," Zhang Fengxi said. "Let the best one win."

"I count on that," Wu Shenxia said in response.

Qingyuan Palace, the seat of the mermaid clan, was the only one of the nine palaces which was located in the Human Realm. Unlike the dragons who willingly left the four seas to dwell in the Heavenly Realm, the mermaids were still greatly attached to the waters.

Underwater most of the time, Qingyuan Palace was carried on the back of a giant whale. This giant whale emerged above the water’s surface once a month for a week. Once a month during that particular week, the mermen and merwomen came to the Human Realm to play.

With explicit permission from the Qingyuan Palace Master, some merfolks were allowed to stay above water and established a living in the Human Realm. Of the many towns that the merfolk turned into their hometowns, the biggest one was Coral Reef Town.

As soon as Zhang Fengxi entered Coral Reef Town, he headed toward the town’s famous tea house -- the Purple Peony Pavilion. This specific tea house was known to be very flexible when dealing with its guests.

The guests of Purple Peony Pavilion typically fell into one of three categories.

There were those who just wanted to relax after a long journey. These travelers were usually content with a cup of tea at a quiet table with a great view.

There were also those who sought entertainment to enrich their monotonous life. A lot of married alphas belonged to this category. They were seated close to the songstress who performed one song after another to lighten the guests’ mood.

A good wine, a plate of the tea house’s specialty cookies, and sometimes a dish or two were served according to the guests’ preferences.

Lastly, there was the adventurous type of alphas who wanted to indulge in the loving arms of attractive omegas. These omegas, usually referred to as courtesans, were ranked according to their popularity. The higher the rank, the costlier the hourly rate.

The tea house attendants were instructed to approach every customer who stepped foot into the Purple Peony Pavilion. The greetings they gave varied from customer to customer.

Regular customers were immediately directed to their preferred seats or their usual private chambers, usually on the second floor. New customers, on the other hand, were seated on the first floor. One look upward would grant them a small peek into a more exciting experience upstairs.

Zhang Fengxi sat at a table on the first floor. While sipping on a cup of wine, he let his gaze wander toward the second floor.

Sure enough, a familiar person soon emerged from one of the chambers -- the notorious playboy in flesh and blood. He had two beauties hanging from each of his arms.

"Brother Guiying."

Zhou Guiying was visibly startled to see Zhang Fengxi in Coral Reef Town.

"Brother Fengxi! What a coincidence!"

"Prince..." one of the beauties pouted when she lost Zhou Guiying’s attention. "Are you abandoning us now?"

Zhou Guiying laughed. He pressed a kiss against the beauty’s forehead. "What are you talking about? I am just going to have a little chat with Prince Zhang Fengxi here. He is the heir of the Longjing Palace."

"Ohh..."

The two ladies knew to read the situation. Longjing Palace was known for its strict stance toward debauchery and extramarital affairs. No one from Longjing Palace ever came to Purple Peony Pavilion.

This handsome prince most likely did not look upon them with favor. They thus quickly excused themselves.

All smiles, Zhou Guiying walked down the stairs and approached Zhang Fengxi’s table.

"Awww. Brother Fengxi, look at that. One look at your grim face was enough to rob me of a pleasant encounter with two beautiful women. Do you need my help somehow?"

Zhang Fengxi gestured for the other alpha to take a seat.

"Indeed, there is something I need to ask you. With so many flowers hanging from your arms day and night, how come you never had to pay for their fruits?"

Zhou Guiying snickered.

"Maybe because there were no fruits to begin with, or the fruits were not mine to take."

"And how did you find out?"

Zhou Guiying stared at Zhang Fengxi, his lips curled up in amusement.

"Why, Brother Fengxi, are you here to talk to me about flowers and fruits out of curiosity or out of necessity?"

"What if it’s a necessity?"

"Aha."

Zhou Guiying poured himself a cup of wine and raised it in front of Zhang Fengxi.

"The answer to that question is for me to know and for you to find out on your own."

"Fair enough," Zhang Fengxi poured Zhou Guiying another cup. "By the way, have you found your half-sister, Yunmeng?"
