Chapter 151 : The Perfect Lie

Chapter 151: Chapter 151 : The Perfect Lie

"You liar."

In the face of the accusation, Liu Wenyuan’s expression was unreadable.

"Prince, maybe you forgot," he then calmly said after a moment of deliberate silence.

Zhang Fengxi knelt on one knee in front of Liu Wenyuan. He pierced the omega with a burning stare and said, "Do you take me as an old man? Had I lain with anyone, I would remember."

Liu Wenyuan passed the alpha a graceful smile.

"Prince, let me refresh your memory."

Liu Wenyuan lay his hands on the zither in front of him and started playing a love song.

His voice was soft, but it was dripping with mockery.

"Two weeks ago, Prince Fengxi came to bid farewell to me before he embarked on a perilous journey to save the Crown Prince. We had a sweet, precious moment together when you made love to me again and again.

Before you took your leave, you left me with proof of your undying love, which is now blooming beautifully inside me."

Zhang Fengxi was baffled.

Hearing the omega talk like that, he almost believed himself to land in a different world where Liu Wenyuan’s scenario took place.

"You are insane," Zhang Fengxi murmured. He shook his head in disbelief as he distanced himself from the omega. "There is no baby. If the baby does exist, then the baby is not mine."

A shadow of a smirk hushed over Liu Wenyuan’s face as his fingers continued to dance among the strings.

"Your word stands against mine, Prince Fengxi. Who do you think will people believe more?"

Zhang Fengxi’s heart went cold.

In the Heavenly Realm, the empire placed great importance on the safety of the omegas, especially the noble omegas. A pregnant, noble omega enjoyed rights and protection that far exceeded those of noble alphas.

Liu Wenyuan already spread the news that Zhang Fengxi was the father of his baby. The first version of a story tended to be taken as the truth.

If Zhang Fengxi now challenged that claim, he would first and foremost be suspected of a dishonorable intention to abandon Liu Wenyuan after taking advantage of him.

Logically, how likely was it for Liu Wenyuan to lie about the father of the baby?

Especially when Liu Wenyuan was betrothed to the father of the baby? Considering that they had not broken up properly before Zhang Fengxi rushed to the Demonic Realm, Liu Wenyuan had time to concoct this evil plan.

If Liu Wenyuan played his cards right, he could ruin Zhang Fengxi quite easily.

Liu Wenyuan watched the color of Zhang Fengxi’s face change as he digested the predicament he was currently in.

He stepped away from his zither and sat next to the alpha. Then, he took Zhang Fengxi’s hand and placed it against his belly.

"Prince Fengxi, today you rush into the Wuyang Palace out of sheer joy over our little one. Right?"

"..."

Zhang Fengxi glared at Liu Wenyuan. After the rose-colored glass was removed, Liu Wenyuan’s true nature appeared on the surface. Disgust bubbled up in Zhang Fengxi’s heart.

"You know that I no longer want to be with you. What are you doing this for?"

Liu Wenyuan’s smile was dripping with poison.

"If I can’t have you, then no one shall."

"Go ahead and give birth to the baby. Afterward, the entire realm will know that you are a liar."

Liu Wenyuan clicked with his tongue and wagged a finger in front of Zhang Fengxi.

"No, my Prince. Before this baby is born, you and I shall be wed. We don’t want the heir of Longjing Palace to be born out of wedlock, do we?"

Liu Wenyuan was very calculative for an omega, as Zhang Fengxi bitterly discovered.

"Do you really think that I will let a bastard of an unknown origin inherit the Longjing Palace Master’s seat?"

"I don’t know, Prince," Liu Wenyuan shrugged. "I am yours, and so is the baby. You shall decide what happens to us."

That’s what he said, but Zhang Fengxi’s every action and decision toward Liu Wenyuan and the baby would be put under scrutiny. His hands were tied by the empire’s rules and norms.

Zhang Fengxi had to use every ounce of self-restraint in his body to not squeeze Liu Wenyuan’s belly. He did not want Liu Wenyuan to tell everyone that the father killed his unborn child.

A light knock was heard on the wooden frame, and then Lady Wen’s soft voice was heard.

"Prince Fengxi, Wenyuan, is everything alright?"

Liu Wenyuan quickly schooled his facial expression back to a gentle, innocent one.

"Of course, Mother. Prince Fengxi just said hi to the baby."

The Wuyang Palace Mistress then slid the door open and entered with some tea.

"How wonderful!"

Lady Wen put the tray on the tea table and then knelt next to her son. Mother and son sat opposite Zhang Fengxi. Zhang Fengxi wondered if Lady Wen knew the truth about Liu Wenyuan’s pregnancy. If she did, then she did not give it away.

"Prince Fengxi, I know that you must be excited. Unfortunately, Wenyuan needs a lot of rest. He had such a scare when the Golden Dragon Palace summoned him. We all did. So glad that the baby is fine."

Heh.

Yes, so glad that the baby was fine.

Zhang Fengxi rose to his feet.

"Thank you for the hospitality," he said, his blood boiling in his veins. "Excuse me, I will take my leave now."

After Zhang Zhiyuan returned from Zhang Fenghan’s residence, his wife shared him the surprising news.

"Pregnancy? Liu Wenyuan?"

Lady Song nodded in excitement.

"Isn’t that wonderful?"

Zhang Zhiyuan rubbed at his aching temples. His wife did not know that Zhang Fengxi intended to break up with Liu Wenyuan for good. Did that useless son of his actually bed Liu Wenyuan before their wedding took place? What an utterly foolish thing to do!

"I need to speak with Fengxi."

The Palace Master marched in the direction of the ancestral hall, but Lady Song stopped him with a smack on the shoulder.

"Aiyah, my husband! Fengxi of course went to Wuyang Palace to be with the mother of his child! How can you be so insensible?"

"..."

Him, insensible?

He was not the scoundrel who impregnated an omega and then left him for his one true love!

Zhang Fengxi came home a while later to face his parents. For some reason, he did not have that expecting father’s glow around him. He looked as gloomy as someone who just came back from a funeral.

"Aiyah, Fengxi! What bad luck! What kind of face are you making on this happy day???"

Lady Song swatted around Zhang Fengxi’s face, as if trying to dismiss the dark clouds that lingered around her son.

"Mother, stop," Zhang Fengxi said gloomily. When he locked eyes with his father, he bowed his head and approached him.

"Father, we need to talk," the younger alpha said with a stern voice. "Urgently."
