Zhang Zhiyuan failed to fathom the recent kidnapping events.

It all started with the kidnapping of Liu Wenyuan, his soon-to-be son-in-law. And then, the Crown Prince too got kidnapped.

The Longjing Palace Master just arrived at the Golden Dragon Palace when a messenger arrived to inform him that his son, Prince Zhang Fengxi, had gone missing.

Why, the Demonic Realm was truly keen on kidnapping the entire Heavenly Realm, it seemed!

Alas, his duty to the realm overstepped his duty as a father. Gritting his teeth all the way to the Demonic Realm, he merely hoped that he was able to rescue both the Crown Prince and his son during the ambush.

The nine palaces and the troops from the Golden Dragon Palace descended upon the Demonic Realm like a swarm of blinding light. Although their forces were then split into seven groups that rained upon each of the Seven Demon King’s Palaces, they still fought valiantly against the unsuspecting demons and demonesses.

Zhang Zhiyuan was blessed with good luck -- he was assigned to the Fourth Demon King’s territory. The former Fourth Demon King had been executed recently, and the new one had yet to be appointed.

When the troops from Longjing Palace thus invaded the palace, the uncoordinated demons failed to deliver worthy resistance. The Fourth Demon King’s Palace fell within a shichen.

After Zhang Zhiyuan handed the territorial control to his second-in-command, he took most of his soldiers and headed to the First Demon King’s Palace.

The First Demon King’s Palace was full of fighting forces. The roaring demons attacked with spells, curses, and poisons, while the heavenly forces attacked with all kinds of weapons and arrows.

"Brother Zhiyuan."

Zhang Zhiyuan spotted Song Weiyang some distance away. Song Weiyang had just come from the Third Demon King’s Palace. The newly-appointed Third Demon King was weak. The battle thus finished quickly without a lot of effort. This explained why Song Weiyang came to the First Demon King’s Palace afterward.

"Brother Weiyang! How is the situation here? I haven’t seen Wu Qingyou yet."

Song Weiyang shrugged.

"Not sure, but I found something interesting."

"Oh?"

Just then, the sound of an explosion was heard, followed by a fiery hurricane that appeared out of nowhere and shot toward the sky.

The demonic trees in that area were quickly destroyed. The evil spirits that resided within did not even get to escape. A cacophony of their painful cries was heard across the vast land prior to their untimely demise.

"That is..."

"That is ’Hellfire Hurricane’, the ultimate move of the Crimson Judgment Spear Art. Unless Commandant Jiang decided to come here instead of fighting in the Second Demon King’s palace, I have an idea who that might be."

Zhang Zhiyuan turned pale.

"Fengxi!!!!"

The two palace masters used their light foot skills to approach the burning forest.

"Brother Zhiyuan, wait."

When they arrived at the edge of the forest, Song Weiyang held his brother-in-law back.

"We cannot enter. The fire is burning indiscriminately. If we are not careful, we too might be incinerated in seconds."

"But that is not good at all!" Zhang Zhiyuan shouted. "My son has not been practicing the Crimson Judgment Spear Art for a long time. To my understanding, he should not be able to use the Hellfire Hurricane yet!"

Song Weiyang made a serious facial expression.

"Oh, no," he said. "Fengxi must be quite desperate. At this point, he won’t die in the hands of his enemies, but he will be consumed by his own attack."

Zhang Zhiyuan stared at the fiery hurricane in horror.

"What can we do?"

"Nothing. We need someone with an ice or water element to come and extinguish the fire."

The two palace masters exchanged grim looks. The Water Guardian was currently fighting in the faraway Seventh Demon King’s palace. Meanwhile, the only palace that used ice elemental skills was none other than Fuxi Palace.

The situation seemed hopeless. All Zhang Zhiyuan could do was hope that his son exhausted all his spiritual power before he was decimated by the Hellfire Hurricane.

And then, against their expectation, an icy dragon emerged from the center of the hurricane. It emitted a loud roaring sound as it fought to subdue the Hellfire Hurricane.

The burned trees turned into coal, but then a layer of ice settled on their surface.

When the dragon smashed them with its tail, the frozen forms shattered into pieces.

"That is..."

Song Weiyang knitted his brows.

"Azure Dragon’s Annihilation, the Tenth Form."

The ice dragon and the fiery hurricane were in a stalemate. Thankfully, Song Weiyang was there to help.

"Let’s go, Brother Zhiyuan."

Song Weiyang enlarged the fan that he held in his hands.

"Vermillion Bird’s Vengeance, First Form!!!"

Usually, using the wind element was counterproductive in subduing the fire element. Thankfully, they were in the Demonic Realm. The air was brimming with demonic energy, very effective in suffocating a skill that was fueled by heavenly spiritual power.

The Vermillion Bird tossed a sharp cry into the sky before it helped the Azure Dragon extinguish the Hellfire Hurricane.

After the situation was under control, both palace masters summoned protective barriers to protect them from the hot sulphuric fumes. They flew toward the center of the forest, where the Azure Dragon was settling back to the forest floor with a sad, low roar.

The trees were still smoldering with residual heat. Occasionally, crackling sounds announced a fallen branch or two.

In the middle of the clearing, right next to the gigantic ice dragon’s tail, an ice barrier had been erected. Inside, two figures could be seen.

Xie Jianyu was kneeling on the ground, his arms draped around Zhang Fengxi’s body. The latter was lying motionlessly in the Crown Prince’s embrace.

Both of them were covered in black and soot and their clothing carried burn traces here and there.

Xie Jianyu was barely able to keep himself awake.

When he saw the two palace masters approaching, he toppled forward and fell unconscious to the ground.
