Chapter 134 : Tracking The Crown Prince (2)

Chapter 134: Chapter 134 : Tracking The Crown Prince (2)

Zhang Fengxi wanted to wipe sweat off his forehead, but he ended up smearing the upper half of his face with mud instead. The prince of the Longjing Palace clicked with his tongue in dismay.

Thanks to his recent success in one mission after another, General Fu, that belligerent bastard of a superior, had grown to dislike Zhang Fengxi. He probably feared that Zhang Fengxi might rise to become his rival in the future.

Even though Zhang Fengxi did not originally have this intention, he was now more than motivated to kick General Fu out of his current position.

In order to exercise his authority, General Fu ordered Zhang Fengxi and his troops to wade through a swampy area in the Human Realm to look for clues of Xie Jianyu’s disappearance.

This task simply did not make sense because which self-respecting cultivator would ever meditate in seclusion in a stinky swamp area with zero spiritual energy? If anything, it was more suitable to serve as a prison for criminals.

Zhang Fengxi and his soldiers thus returned to the Golden Dragon Palace with empty hands. After all that, General Fu had the cheek to express his disappointment in Zhang Fengxi’s lack of contribution.

"And I thought that you would come back with a clue," he said while shaking his head in disbelief.

"..."

"I guess even the best marksman will miss sometimes, eh?"

General Fu laughed while smacking Zhang Fengxi’s shoulder.

Zhang Fengxi flashed his superior a scary grin. There was nothing he would love to do more than kick his superior in the head.

He would probably have found Xie Jianyu, if this idiot did not greedily claim all the probable areas to himself! Losing the Crown Prince of the Heavenly Realm was a dire situation, and yet this selfish man only cared about his personal glory and reputation!

Wu Shenxia was not doing better. After Zhang Fengxi, General Fu hated her the most. Naturally, he gave her the second worst locations to search.

The two commandants met outside the Golden Dragon Palace, when Zhang Fengxi was about to leave and Wu Shenxia just arrived.

"Hey," Wu Shenxia greeted her comrade. "Any result?"

Zhang Fengxi shook his head.

"Swamp areas. You?"

Wu Shenxia laughed. "Volcanoes! Why would a dragon prince even go there to meditate?"

Zhang Fengxi gave a burst of cheerless laughter in response. He was glad that he was not the only one who disliked General Fu.

"Beats me."

"I gotta go," Wu Shenxia grinned at him. "Hopefully I get better jobs next. See you."

Zhang Fengxi waved at her. When he climbed onto his mount, Wu Shenxia’s words lingered in his mind. Where would a dragon prince go to meditate in seclusion? Dragons were originally water creatures. They were strongest when they were close to water element.

Meditation should be done in a comfortable and relaxing environment.

Xie Jianyu most likely meditated somewhere near the seas. Now, where in Human Realm, close to the seas, was the place with the most abundant spiritual energy? Based on what Zhang Fengxi knew about the dragon clan in his past life, one particular spot in the Human Realm was especially attractive to them.

Unfortunately, it was very difficult to reach.

The underwater cave, a sweet spot where the eastern and western currents met, was namely located deep under the sea. The pressure that one endured during the dive was enough to crush the lungs of those who had yet to attain the required cultivation level.

For someone like the Crown Prince, the experience should be akin to flipping a hand.

Naturally, Zhang Fengxi too was unable to get to the underwater cave. That was perfectly fine for him, because he did not plan to go there in the first place. He merely needed to capture traces of Xie Jianyu’s spiritual energy nearby.

Zhang Fengxi rode his spiritual mount to the edge of the sea. As soon as they arrived, Xiao Huang began playing catch with the gentle wave of water that crashed against the land repeatedly, only to go back into the sea.

On the other hand, Zhang Fengxi began to get busy.

He dislodged a little inconspicuous lamp with a low-hanging flower shade that hung at his waist.

After he lit it up with his own spiritual power, the lamp burned with an orange glow. This lamp was known as the Heart Affinity Lamp. It was one of the Longjing Palace’s heirlooms.

With this lamp, it was possible to illuminate traces of spiritual power left by a familiar person behind. The one who held the lamp must simply focus on the one person whose spiritual power he wished to track.

With the lamp in his hand, Zhang Fengxi walked along the sandy beach. He held the lamp up, swaying it lightly from side to side until he saw a faintly shimmering blue light some distance away from the beach.

"Found it."

Zhang Fengxi waded in the shallow water until he reached the speck of blue light. It drifted languidly in the water, bobbing up and down with the water current. As soon as the lamp shone upon it, the tiny blue light flew into the lamp and replaced the light inside.

Now, the lamp was burning bright blue.

A victorious smile laced Zhang Fengxi’s lips. He stroked the lamp like he would a pet.

"Very good. Now, show me the way."

Countless tiny orbs of light poured out of the lamp and landed on the sand. They formed footprints that were slowly distancing themselves from the water.

Apparently, Xie Jianyu left the sea much earlier than he should have and then went somewhere else.

Zhang Fengxi turned around and snapped with his fingers. Xiao Huang immediately stopped playing and came rushing toward his master.

"Xiao Huang, transform yourself," Zhang Fengxi ordered. "We are going to take a walk among the human beings."

The huge spiritual tiger growled in agreement. He then shrunk into an adorable tiger cub.

"Rawr."

Smiling, Zhang Fengxi picked the tiger cub up with one hand and held the lamp high with his other hand. The footprints led them to a nearby town.
