Chapter 433: Chapter 105: Level 20 Is Enough? Xu Shu Has More Ideas! (Seeking Monthly Pass) _2
"So Auntie, why do you have such suspicions?"
She curiously glanced across, just in time to see a sly smile flit across Gu Yue Ming’s face, before she darted into the tent.
"?
"What is she laughing about?"
Gu Pan found it somewhat baffling.
After a while, she saw Xu Shu walking over in a refreshing manner and naturally sitting next to her, picking up a tin of canned food that had been warmed and starting to eat.
Gu Pan didn’t tell him it was actually prepared for herself, but casually mentioned, "Leveled up again?"
"Hey, it’s always you, Teacher, who gets me," Xu Shu swallowed a mouthful of beef from the can that could only just be considered tasty.
"Pfft, who can’t guess what you’re up to?" Gu Pan thought to herself, sure enough, two weeks apart and he was still that crazy level-up enthusiast she knew.
She pursed her lips and asked out of curiosity, "What was with that weird group of cultists today? What did they want with you?"
"Oh, them," Xu Shu tilted his head and carefully recalled his grudge with Su Ji Herrera, speaking seriously, "Strictly speaking, it should be because I took her first kill, and then she harbored resentment and came to settle scores with me."
That wasn’t incorrect to say; based on the first time Su Ji Herrera appeared in the real world, Xu Shu estimated that no one else had managed to annihilate her ’summoned’ duplicate twice before then.
First kill then, wasn’t it?
Gu Pan was utterly confused.
What the hell, what first kill? You kill someone and they come for revenge?
She was baffled and didn’t bother asking further, seeing Xu Shu looked confident and unfazed.
After a moment, she suddenly said, "Oh right, I have something for you."
Saying this, she ran to the car parked at the entrance, rummaged through her personal small bag in the trunk, and soon brought back a small box.
She opened it in front of Xu Shu; inside was a set of miniature armor emitting a faint glow.
Gu Pan squinted her eyes and asked, "Guess what this is?"
"This is, a Protective Talisman?" Xu Shu’s eyes lit up.
"...Oh, looks like you’ve become quite knowledgeable recently." Gu Pan pursed her lips, a faint hint of disappointment flashing in her eyes, suspiciously asked, "Did you buy one yourself?"
Xu Shu shook his head, "Haven’t yet, but I’ve heard about them and haven’t got around to buying one."
Gu Pan then leaned back slightly and generously placed the small wooden box into Xu Shu’s hands, saying, "Here, don’t say your teacher doesn’t look after you, her student. I spent a huge amount to buy this especially for you, knowing you lacked the basic equipment."
Although she hadn’t paid directly, it was indeed a substantial expense she had run up by credit from the family sword weapon sales hall — who says buying things on credit isn’t spending money?
Xu Shu didn’t stand on ceremony and immediately accepted what seemed to be a mistaken "gift for acknowledging the master," expressing his earnest gratitude.
No matter the cost, it was clear she had just come out of seclusion and she had thought of bringing him something nice, which spoke volumes about the strong mentor-student friendship between Gu Pan and himself.
"To wear it, absorb an Erosion Crystal, since you’re a Warrior, so I’ve prepared this suit of Armor class Protective Spell for you," Gu Pan added.
Xu Shu already understood; he had learned from the ranking network last time that Protective Spells are divided into four types: silk, cloth, leather, and armor classes, each focusing on a different aspect, and different occupations would choose corresponding Protective Spells to maximize their effect.
As a Warrior, the "weight" brought by the Armor class Protective Spell naturally wouldn’t affect him much.
Xu Shu stood up earnestly, turned around, and with his back to Gu Pan, placed the two Protective Spells into his pocket.
After a flash of light, he suddenly manifested quite well-made though somewhat generic-looking heavy armor and a helmet, indeed hefty in weight.
His ranking network also displayed appropriate information:
[You’ve first contained an Armor class Protective Spell]
*Protective Charm·Head: Armor class (White) Physical resistance +1, low quality, no special effects, no additional consumption
*Protective Charm·Armor: Armor class (White) Physical resistance +1, low quality, no special effects, no additional consumption
[Note: Protective Spells are tightly bound with the Curse Seal, irreversibly fixed, do not drop, dissolve automatically upon damage; you can also replace it by containing another Protective Spell which will then fade away the original, can’t be preserved. Appearance can be hidden, does not affect Protective Spell usage.]
"So that’s how it is~" Xu Shu clenched his fists, feeling only a little added weight from the pure external blessing.
Gu Pan shifted her gaze, thinking to herself "quite majestic."
The armor was quite imposing, but way too conspicuous, so Xu Shu hid its appearance, and then sincerely said again, "Thank you, Teacher!"
"Mm, don’t mention it, just don’t forget your teacher when you get hold of any good stuff in the future."
Gu Pan was pleased with his attitude, rolling her eyes playfully and casually mentioned, "By the way, what level did you just reach? Hey, maybe you don’t know, but I’m already level 9 now, and my limit, by the way, is 20."
"Oh? Impressive, worthy of my teacher!" Xu Shu raised his thumb in praise.
"Of course."
Having missed teaching him earlier, Gu Pan was now thoroughly enjoying herself, her face expressionless, but her heart might well have been blooming with mirth.
