You could say that as long as Xu Shu didn’t reveal any major flaws, Wuxin was now like a girl in love—completely blind.
"Then let’s set off! Master, you’re not very mobile, so I’ll carry you," Xu Shu offered proactively.
Wuxin nodded, "Mm, that would be good."
Afterward, Xu Shu once again felt the heavy yet soft pressure on his back as Wuxin climbed on again.
Although it was their third encounter, it still had to be said that despite how unremarkable Wuxin’s chest looked, the size was no less grand than Gu Pan’s.
One’s meant to be vegetarian as a monk, right?
Where did all these nutrients come from...
Xu Shu kept his expression unchanged and continued on his way.
This time, he was more familiar with the route, heading eastward, aiming for the lighthouse supply point located at (19,19) in this subterranean fantasy.
He already knew that Gu Pan and a group of Hunter Association members were trapped in the endless cycle of this illusion, which necessarily included the route from the lighthouse to the boundary point.
Plus, he had passed the sites along the way that bore their traces.
It was safe to deduce that as long as he continued eastward, it would be no more than 20 miles before he would surely come across them.
"Hope I’m not too late. I can only make this trip once; if they can’t be saved, they can only count on their luck," Xu Shu silently thought, hastening his pace.
An old horse knows the way, and by around eight o’clock, Xu Shu had successfully arrived at the location of the lighthouse.
The area was identical to one above ground, with an M-shaped forest surrounding it, the lighthouse supply station at the pointed base of the M, a large clearing in front, walls forming the vertical lines of the M, and woods beyond the clearing.
From afar, he saw a crowd outside the woods discussing something, while the gate at (19,19) was tightly shut.
"Hmm, a situation?"
Xu Shu’s mind stirred, and he stealthily moved closer to overhear.
This was the temporary camp that had been overwhelmed with corpses, utterly destroyed.
A dozen vehicles were end-to-end, creating a relatively safe space where they had set up camp.
Among them were only two Transcendents, while the majority were non-Transcendent soldiers, yet each was armed and looked well-trained.
As Xu Shu was pondering how to approach, he heard two people—one with "Tang" on his chest and another with "Song" on his—using binoculars to observe the situation at the distant door of the lighthouse and complaining.
"Alas, even though I’m quite capable, why do we have to stay here guarding the camp, managing logistics, while they get to accompany the elders and gain experience? Look, it seems like a fight has broken out inside," said a Tang Family member.
The other person tried to see the bright side, "Ah, cheer up. After all, frontline warriors only need to listen to commands and commit fully to the battlefield, fighting bravely. But we who manage the rear have a lot to consider. The captain trusts us, that’s why he’s entrusted us with this important task."
"Yeah, you’re right," the Tang Family member nodded, and the two continued to watch from a distance, commenting on the situation.
Of course, with the doors shut, they saw nothing.
Meanwhile, Xu Shu hiding behind a tree was stunned.
Damn it, Heavenly Defiance, what kind of absurd logic is that? This isn’t playing house; it’s a battlefield of life and death, and they’re still putting each other down. Can anyone actually say that?
It really takes one to know one!
Just then, three Nie Qiba suddenly fell from the trees, pouncing on the two from three different directions.
Both were Second Rank Transcendents, but caught up in their heated conversation, they were taken by surprise.
One was sliced in half straight through the middle and died instantly.
The other’s legs were cut off, his lower half remained in the tree, and he fell to the ground, screaming loudly, "Ah, my legs! Legs! My legs!!"
"Just three monsters—they should have been able to hold them off. The tragedy of this camp came from these two’s dereliction of duty..."
Xu Shu was speechless, but nonetheless, he intervened.
The three Nie Qiba were no match for him, especially with at least a Second-order Peak Wuxin on his back.
In just a few moves, he quickly dispatched the three beasts, crushing them into dust.
The others, their nerves still rattled, thanked him and asked who he was. Not wanting to cause trouble, Xu Shu simply said, "I’m from the Gu Family," and then headed straight for the sham (19,19) supply point.
There was still time to spare, but he couldn’t afford to be careless, so without hesitation, Xu Shu kicked the door open.
However, what he saw inside stunned him.
The large hall was in chaos, with members of the Hunter Association scattered and fighting individually, engulfed by a flood of Nie Qiba.
At the front of the hall, the ragged screen that once lay in front of the old projection room had been pulled down.
The once-dormant "cinema" had come to life after eighteen years, displaying a scene of a strange, dark sea.
A giant and a huge Snake-man were shadowed on the screen, engaged in a superficial battle.
And there was even sound.
Below, people were fighting for their lives.
Above, the giant and the Snake-man kept moaning and groaning incessantly.
The scene was surreal and eerie, chilling to the bone.
And Xu Shu’s eyes widened in shock.
"Holy shit, not again?!"
"Damn Tailed Ksitigarbha, spreading racy films everywhere, ruining my reputation, I will be your enemy!"
