Chapter 278: Chapter 54: The Holy Water Sword Emerges, Demons Beheaded (4K Votes for Monthly Pass)_2
He then wiped the blood off the blade onto the skirt of the sleeping girl’s nightgown and took out a Holy Water Bottle from his bag, pouring out a conservative amount before anointing the pristine blade once more for the "enchantment."
Killing these vampires was a troublesome ordeal, each beheading would significantly deplete the holy water on the blade, rendering it ineffective and necessitating a fresh application of the secret Holy Water prepared by the nuns of the Starry Church. This is why Xu Shu was quite frugal.
When his cold blade touched her skin, the girl who had been feigning death in front of him could no longer hold the act and opened her eyes.
With tears brimming in her eyes, she looked upon Xu Shu with gratitude, "Big brother, thank you for saving me."
Xu Shu held up a finger, "Don’t thank me, thank your own strength. But you need to be stronger still, for you must see to your parents’ bodies now."
The expression on the girl’s face immediately stiffened, "..."
Then, with a complex gaze toward the corpses of her parents, she could no longer hold back and burst into tears.
Nothing could be done if she wanted to cry; they were able to afford an expensive room on the second floor, so they were most likely merchants from the city.
As merchants, there were certainly other survivors who would naturally take the girl back to the city.
"It’s so dangerous on the Wasteland, yet they still travel with their daughter for business, I can’t understand their thinking. Perhaps it was the child herself insisting on coming? The parents have no backbone at all, tsk tsk. But life and death are predestined, and wealth is in heaven’s hands. Another orphan in this world, how pitiful."
However, Xu Shu didn’t have the luxury to ponder her future. Everyone has to pay the price for their choices.
He stood up and left the room, his vigilance heightened as he continued the search. Not a moment to spare to mourn the dead parents of the girl.
The first to respond to the battlefield was the grim-faced Xu Shu, wielding the blade of temptation.
Along the corridor, limbs were strewn about, most of the room doors were intact, but a few were broken open.
With each shattered door he pushed open, Xu Shu was on high alert, always ready to draw his blade.
Open one door, a floor full of corpses.
Open another, and again, a floor full of corpses.
Today, the second floor of the inn was a purgatory on earth.
Xu Shu also came upon the second victim, a female vampire greedily feasting on the bodies of four people.
It was extremely vigilant and noticed Xu Shu. But it was too late; it was slow to rise.
That split-second pause allowed it to be decapitated by a swift cut from his flying blade.
Skill: Throwing!
It must be said, this skill was extremely useful. Within a few breaths, the vampire too melted into a black, pus-like substance.
The four victims in this room were three men and one woman. Two had been drained into mummies and were beyond saving.
The remaining two survivors, a man and a woman, naturally kowtowed and wept with gratitude to Xu Shu.
Xu Shu found the woman somewhat familiar. Suddenly it came to him, wasn’t she the same person he’d glimpsed through a crack on his first day here, the one involved in a 1V3?
Hardly recognizable clothed.
What a small world, bumping into her again today. This sister must be a professional, doing business all the way from the thirteenth floor to the second, covering all bases.
Naturally, Xu Shu had no time to concern himself with others’ lifestyles; he more pressing matters to attend to.
Step out, hunt ghosts.
No more than five minutes.
The third vampire also fell victim to the relentless Xu Shu.
It had just finished devouring the occupants of a room and walked out, running straight into Xu Shu at the moment he was killing its companion. They stood staring at each other for a good three seconds.
In that brief period, the vampire’s mind seemed to have lived a whole lifetime.
The fight erupted in an instant.
Only three moves were needed for it to be brought down by Xu Shu, beheaded in execution.
The last vampire was the fastest of them all.
The second floor could not satiate its desires; it aimed to head up to the third when it encountered Xu Shu annihilating one of its kindreds at the stairwell.
When a narrow path meets bravery prevails. It was quick, and Xu Shu was fierce, each with their own merits, rendering him unable to pin it down for a while.
However, Xu Shu discerned from its large grapefruits that it was a female vampire and thus immediately used the Charm skill.
Even though the vampire was a seasoned killer, after falling under the spell, she became languidly charmed, her tender, bloodstained lips gaping wide, as she began to seductively entreat him for affection.
"Buzz off!" (Note 1)
Xu Shu didn’t indulge it; instead, he split its legs down the middle and, with an upward strike, cleaved it in two.
Its voluptuousness scattered across the floor in a spectacularly lurid display.
After such a campaign, taking less than half an hour, he managed to slay all four vampires.
The silver lining amongst the tragedy was that their havoc was confined to the second floor.
If Xu Shu had arrived even slightly later, the casualty figures would likely have doubled.
The vampires had voracious appetites, truly excelling at draining their prey.
Of them, besides the last vampire which was of the thirteenth rank, the other three were ninth rank.
However, no white crystals; they all possessed green Erosion Crystals, indicative of "Fine" quality monsters.
After collecting all the Erosion Crystals, a hint of contemplation flickered in Xu Shu’s eyes.
Once upon a time, faced with these entities, he would have had to flee alongside other refugees. Now, he had the power to easily hunt them down.
This is the might of a sixteenth-rank Legendary Warrior; on the Wasteland, one could nearly walk unopposed.
Of course, this was far from enough strength. The Wasteland was too small, and the monster ranks merely first.
