So Xu Qingfan always thought dried noodles were pretty tasty.

After turning on the stove, he put the beef braise to heat up. As for cooking the noodles, he'd wait until Auntie and Yiyi got up, so they'd be ready just as they finished brushing their teeth.

After frying three eggs, Xu Qingfan turned off the stove and left the kitchen.

The house felt a lot cozier compared to when he was a kid. All the trinkets he'd picked up during trips over the years decorated the house, and there were many more plants too.

After trimming and watering every plant, Xu Qingfan stretched and walked to the balcony.

Above him hung the clothes of both of them, swaying gently in the breeze, especially the underwear.

Xu Qingfan took a second glance, remembering how Auntie's lingerie was always black or purple lace with cut-outs. So why was there a new red set?

[Maybe Auntie bought it for last year's zodiac year?]

Xu Qingfan shook his head, quickly dismissing the thought.

He opened the washing machine to check, and sure enough, inside were the clothes they'd washed before bed last night but hadn't hung out.

With nothing better to do, Xu Qingfan casually hung Auntie's clothes to dry.

After hanging the clothes, he went to check the bathroom and found there were no soaked lingerie left unwashed.

He had just wondered why he hadn't seen Auntie's stockings on the balcony, thinking they might be soaking in the bathroom.

But then he thought again, what would Auntie be doing wearing stockings in the middle of winter?

With nothing to do, he left the bathroom feeling slightly at a loss and ran into Zhang Yiyi, who had just come out of the bedroom.

"Morning, brother!" At the sight of Xu Qingfan, the drowsy girl instantly brightened up.

"Did I wake you up? Why are you awake so early?" Xu Qingfan spread his arms, and Zhang Yiyi immediately dashed into his embrace.

"Because I knew my brother was coming this morning, so I got up early." Zhang Yiyi snuggled deeper into his arms, finding the most comfortable position.

When there's something to look forward to, even if you've had a sleepless night, you'll still wake up early the next day.

"Go brush your teeth first—I'll make some noodles for you to eat."

"Noooo, brother, stop it, boohoo~"

Xu Qingfan cupped the girl's cheeks and leaned in for a kiss; although Zhang Yiyi tried to evade by not having brushed her teeth yet, she eventually couldn't escape and found herself pinned against the wall, surrendering to the bad brother's kiss.

Xu Qingfan barely lasted a minute, giving a gentle kiss, then wiped away the saliva from her lips with his hand, "What's there to be shy about? You're still sweet even if you haven't brushed your teeth."

Zhang Yiyi nervously glanced toward her mom's bedroom, but fortunately, the doorway didn't suddenly reveal a mom eating popcorn.

"Mom's still home." She playfully punched Xu Qingfan on the chest before slipping from his hug and heading to the bathroom.

Xu Qingfan leisurely followed behind, with Zhang Yiyi turning back to give him a playful scold, quickening her steps and locking the bathroom door behind her.

Touching his lips, Xu Qingfan wondered if it was just his imagination, but they felt sweeter than sugar water.

Soon, the sound of the toilet flushing came from the bathroom, and then Zhang Yiyi reopened the locked door.

Looking inside, Xu Qingfan saw the bathroom window was open, probably because the girl was worried about any lingering smell.

"For breakfast, we're having beef braised noodles. Do you want fully cooked eggs or soft-boiled ones, Yiyi?"

Zhang Yiyi glanced at him after squeezing her toothpaste, making a half-heart with one hand: "I want a love-heart egg."

"Easy, I'll bite it into a heart shape for you."

Zhang Yiyi gave him a knowing look, then started brushing her teeth on her own.

Even though they weren't face-to-face, the two still exchanged glances and expressions through the mirror. Xu Qingfan grinned, Zhang Yiyi scrunched her nose, Xu Qingfan raised an eyebrow, and Zhang Yiyi did the same.

It felt like a facial expression mimicry contest, where one would make a move and the other would imitate it.

Xu Qingfan took a step to the right, entering the kitchen and wrapping an arm around Zhang Yiyi's slim waist from behind.

The morning was the best time of day. Smelling the unique fragrance of the young girl, the dog man quickly felt a surge of emotions.

But because Zhang Yiyi was wearing a thick padded jacket, she didn't feel like having a gun pressed against her.

Xu Qingfan didn't intend to do anything inappropriate. He could control his desires, after all.

He rested his head on Zhang Yiyi's shoulder, giving her a kiss on the cheek while she brushed her teeth.

Feigning impatience, Zhang Yiyi prodded him with her toothbrush.

Unexpectedly, the dog man opened his mouth wide as if eagerly waiting for a reward.

"Stop it, mom's about to get up." Zhang Yiyi said irritably, gently patting his forehead.

"Our mom doesn't wake up so early on Sundays, plus you can't even hear her footsteps... Ah! Auntie?"

"Ah~ Mom!"

In the mirror, Zhang Chunxue's face appeared, making Xu Qingfan and Zhang Yiyi jump out of their skins.

"Hehe... Auntie, you're up early today, just playing around with Yiyi." Xu Qingfan released his hold on Zhang Yiyi, turning and waving.

Thankfully, he had released his playful tickling just in time and removed his hand from Zhang Yiyi's waist, only resting his head on her shoulder, which wasn't really inappropriate given their relationship.

Zhang Chunxue held back a smile, having just had a heart-to-heart with her daughter last night. Although Zhang Yiyi kept her mouth shut, she still couldn't totally believe it and decided to sneak in for a check.

Looking at her daughter in the mirror, then at Xu Qingfan, Zhang Chunxue said, "Knowing little Fan was coming today to make love noodles, I got up early."

"Mom, brother made beef braised noodles. We're having beef noodles for breakfast!" Zhang Yiyi quickly realized their previous antics were no big deal and regained her poise.

"Is that so? Thank you for the hard work, little Fan. Auntie would love a half-cooked egg." Zhang Chunxue gave Xu Qingfan a meaningful look, then turned back towards her bedroom to brush her teeth and wash up.

A chill ran through Xu Qingfan, feeling as if Auntie saw through him, piercing his body and soul.

"Okay, Auntie, noodles will be ready once you finish washing up."

"Hmm."

Exchanging a glance with Zhang Yiyi, he then enthusiastically dashed off to eat.

...

The teeth-brushing and washing up didn't take long, and just as Xu Qingfan finished cooking the noodles, Zhang Chunxue and Zhang Yiyi caught the aroma and came to the kitchen.

"It smells so good, Xiao Fan's cooking is still this awesome."

"Mhm!"

Zhang Chunxue helped with the bowls, while Zhang Yiyi brought the brewed tea and milk.

"Then I'll help Auntie cook more often." Xu Qingfan grinned, trailing along as Zhang Chunxue and Zhang Yiyi took off their coats that they'd put on when waking up, the living room heater pumping the air with warmth.

Once Zhang Chunxue served the noodles, she didn't sit at the dining table but instead led the way to the sofa, bowl in hand, turning on the TV to find a mealtime show.

Zhang Yiyi and Xu Qingfan sat on either side as Zhang Chunxue tuned into the Jade Channel. Finding it playing Pokémon, she left it on that channel.

It wasn't to cater to Xu Qingfan or Zhang Yiyi, but because Zhang Chunxue genuinely loved watching Pokémon.

Along with other feel-good shows like Crayon Shin-chan, Doraemon, and SpongeBob SquarePants, she was a fan.

Ironically, Xu Qingfan suddenly recalled promising Wanning as a kid that when he grew up, he'd gift her a Pikachu. He wondered if that silly girl still remembered.

"I wish I could have Xiao Fan's breakfast every day." Zhang Chunxue poked her chopsticks into her soft-boiled egg, letting the yolk coat her noodles before taking a big mouthful.

"Yiyi said Xiao Fan used to get up at five every day in school, exercise for an hour, and then start making breakfast for everyone by six?"

Xu Qingfan glanced at Zhang Yiyi, only to quickly notice two evident spots of Auntie's curves rising against her chest.

"Ahem... That's what I boasted last time. How could I get up so early? I usually sleep until six-thirty, and more often than not, Xiao Yu cooks breakfast."

He fixed his gaze on the TV screen, reminding himself, 'See no evil, see no evil.'

Despite a few sneaky glances, Xu Qingfan didn't escape Zhang Chunxue's notice. She initially felt awkward since she'd forgotten she wasn't wearing anything under the coat before taking it off, but seeing Xiao Fan more flustered than her, Auntie couldn't help but giggle.

"When I go to university, I'll make breakfast for Auntie every day." Not hearing a reply from Zhang Chunxue, Xu Qingfan added.

"Yes, Auntie will be waiting for you to go to university." Zhang Chunxue affectionately patted his head.

Although they hadn't discussed studying in Hong Kong, an unspoken understanding seemed mutual.

"Mom, you'll live with us then!" Zhang Yiyi chimed in.

"Sure, Mom will live with everyone then." Zhang Chunxue nodded with a smile.
