Chapter 180: Chapter 12: Weirdo

Every sport has its unique charm. Some people dream of speed, so they pursue racing, while others dream of flying and choose gliding. Whatever the sport, there’s only one thought on their mind while playing - to experience the thrill to its fullest.

But Xiao Xian can’t pursue that extreme thrill because if she did, she might literally knock several people unconscious. She knows she only needs to jump just a bit higher than three meters and five centimeters—not too high, as there are responsibilities associated with that.

Her skirt flew up, but at this moment, no one on the basketball court was peeking at the upskirt view of a ten-year-old girl. Her ten fingers, almost translucent under the sunlight, were exposed.

Her right hand effortlessly reached for the unruly ball, while the remaining five fingers firmly grasped the basket rim.

As long as the ball went in, that was all that mattered. The male teacher didn’t specify how it needed to go in. The only thought in Xiao Xian’s mind was to firmly hold the ball in her hand, a dash of orange going through the net.

Then, falling from the net, the ball landed perfectly on the sun-soaked cement floor directly beneath the basket.

After making the shot, Xiao Xian let go of her left hand. You wouldn’t believe it, but the iron nails on the basket rim were quite sharp. Xiao Xian disapproved internally as she landed on the ground, as graceful and elastic as a bent bow, the whole process taking only about half a minute.

"It’s in!" Xiao Xian shouted, mimicking a sportscaster she heard on the radio, then turned to see why no one was cheering for her, it being her first time touching a basketball.

On the basketball court floor, aside from the basketball, there were two splashes of drink. Just as Xiao Xian made her jump, a few boys drinking their beverages spit them out in shock.

Zhuo Feng was dumbfounded, and Ni Shahe was even more stupefied.

"There are two more shots," seeing that her first shot was successful, Xiao Xian decided to follow the same method for the remaining two balls. This time, she ensured not to jump too high—exactly three meters and five centimeters, not a bit more or less, which was certainly easier than digging up plants on a cliffside.

"Stop... stop," Ni Shahe stuttered, calling a halt twice. His expression was strange, his lips twitching, as if he wanted to both cry and laugh, "Young lady, from which elementary school are you? How come our school wasn’t notified about your name during the transition from elementary to middle school?" Such a student is not just talented; she is extraordinarily gifted, outjumping even the school team members who are around one ninety to two meters tall, not to mention her nimble posture and composure after scoring.

A real, one-handed slam dunk. With some more training, a two-handed slam dunk wouldn’t be just a dream.

If there weren’t students watching, Ni Shahe would have screamed his lungs out on the field, foreseeing a great future for Sacred Heart Middle School’s basketball team.

"Teacher," Zhuo Feng regained his composure, "She’s my little niece who just arrived from Guizhou yesterday. She’s only ten and hasn’t even finished elementary school. And as far as I know, she’s never learned basketball."

"Ten years old? Never learned basketball?" There was another spray of beverages on the basketball court. To think, dunking on her first try at basketball suggested a future "Female Michael Jordan," when in the year 2000, Michael Jordan was still the dream of many young basketball players.

"Ten years old, hasn’t finished elementary?" Ni Shahe’s heart suffered two vicissitudes in a short period. It was as if he were told he won five million only to be told the next second it was a false ticket.

"However, the child’s academic performance is quite good. The teacher has assessed her, saying she can skip to the eighth grade," Zhuo Feng added, feeling his words were somewhat jumbled, yet all true, as she couldn’t possibly deceive the teachers.

"No worries, I’ll immediately find a teacher to get the entrance exam papers, and we’ll have on-the-spot test. Let’s take the child to the teaching building; it’s too sunny outside," Ni Shahe demonstrated his prowess as a P.E. teacher, sprinting towards the teaching building and not forgetting to shout at the high school students before leaving, "Take all the drink bottles from the field, stop leaving trash everywhere every day."
