Chapter 309: Chapter 309 Clear Understanding

Yang Peimin looked at her, smiled, and shook her head, "I don’t know about that, you’ll have to ask them. I don’t handle these matters, and it’s actually what I’m most afraid of. Don’t scare me. I can’t even manage my own little affairs, let alone make decisions about big ones."

She hurriedly closed off that avenue of conversation.

It was a joke, how could she meddle in Yang Peiying’s marriage affairs? Even subtle hints or jokes wouldn’t be appropriate.

Mo Xin looked at her and shook his head as well, smiling, "Forget it, I was just mentioning it offhand."

Luo Dahua glanced at the two of them and guessed a little, then changed the topic with a smile, "Speaking of which, the world is getting more stable now. These matters still depend on what the young people think. We aren’t even their parents, and even if we were, we shouldn’t interfere too much. Look at our decisive sister Yixiang, she’s certainly not in the minority."

She deftly moved the conversation along, and Yang Peimin called them to serve themselves some dishes, especially putting extra pieces of meat on the plates of the children around. The children didn’t join the main table due to lack of space, so they took their plates and sat at a small table nearby to eat. Originally, Mo Xin had suggested, considering the limited space, that the women might not join the dining table and could just eat in the kitchen.

Yang Peimin firmly disagreed, asking what kind of rule that was. How could women not sit at the dining table to eat? Fortunately, none of the men had this idea.

The men had their conversations, and the women shared some intimate words among themselves. The topic mostly revolved around the children.

Those childcare experiences, it seemed they could never finish discussing them.

Especially since Yang Peimin was an expectant mother, they bombarded her from the perspective of those who had gone through it all before, imparting a full set of precautions. Anyway, she didn’t need to bother responding, just nodding was enough.

The dinner didn’t last very long, considering Yang Peimin’s health, knowing that her pregnancy had just stabilized, they knew she needed more rest.

Some of the younger folks stayed behind to help clean up the tables, chairs, and flooring while some of the sisters-in-law helped clean the kitchenware before leaving.

Yang Peimin felt a bit embarrassed, since it was originally her responsibility, but Luo Dahua pressed her hand and said, "What’s there to be embarrassed about? We should be thanking your family for the hospitality. We had a feast! You just sit down; you didn’t eat much earlier, probably disturbed by the hustle. Rest now, and eat something later when everyone has left..."

By the time everyone had left, it was nearly nine o’clock. Shen Yiguang came over and bent down to ask Yang Peimin if she felt unwell, to which Yang Peimin shook her head, "I’m a bit sleepy."

Shen Yiguang then suggested she sit for a while, and went to prepare some hot water for her to bathe and soak her feet, "It’s cold today, maybe we should bathe tomorrow?" he advised.

Yang Peimin shook her head, "A bath before sleep is comfortable." She hadn’t napped today and was feeling incredibly sleepy now, not even having the appetite to eat. She took a pillow to support her back, sitting on the sofa covered by a thin blanket over her legs, and she started to feel drowsy as she spoke.

Shen Yiguang, looking at her, became worried, "Let me help you wash; I’m afraid you might fall asleep halfway through. In this weather, a little carelessness could easily make you catch a cold, which the baby cannot handle."

Shen Yixiang, coming in from outside and hearing this, looked over in surprise, observing her brother’s tender and affectionate gaze, felt somewhat stunned. She sat down beside them, curiously observing them for a while, her face also turning contemplative.

Yang Peimin noticed her and stealthily chastised Shen Yiguang with a look. She didn’t know if it was because she had been living in the countryside for too long, things seemed to assimilate, and now when outside, she remembered to keep a distance from Shen Yiguang, not saying overly casual words. Even now, with Shen Yixiang present, she felt uncomfortable, especially with Shen Yixiang’s surprised expression.

Shen Yiguang glanced at Shen Yixiang, then said, "Yixiang, didn’t you say you finished knitting the sweater for mother? There isn’t much time left before we go back; you better hurry up and finish it. You could go to your room and knit under the blankets where it’s warm; if you’re tired, rest right away."

Shen Yixiang raised her head, "When did I say I knitted for mother? Sister-in-law had already made her one, she has a sweater."

"Not mom, then is it dad?"

"No, I was just practicing on my own."

"Oh, then go practice."

"You just hate having me around."

"What are you talking about, girl."

"Alright, don’t pretend I don’t know. Sister-in-law, hurry up, you really shouldn’t be washing alone in this weather. My brother is good at this, he used to catch pigs, cats, and rats for bathing experiments when he was little."

Shen Yiguang glared, and Shen Yixiang quickly slipped into the room.

"This girl!"

After Shen Yiguang finished speaking, he noticed his wife staring intently at him and couldn’t help but cough lightly, "Don’t listen to her nonsense. I never had such leisure when I was young. I was too busy looking for food."

Yang Peimin shook her head, "No, I was talking about Yixiang, how did she become so insightful?"

It was as if her chakras had been opened; she had never seen that her brother disliked her being a third wheel.

"People grow up eventually."

Shen Yiguang didn’t take it to heart, entering the room to get clothes for Yang Peimin, "The water’s getting cold, we need to hurry up."

Yang Peimin felt awkward as he helped her into the shower.

The shower was not large, just about four square meters, barely enough room for two people. Although Yang Peimin had let him help scrub her back in a bath barrel back at their old home and wiped her down at the hospital, things were different now. Her lower abdomen was slightly bulging, and she felt her skin and body shape were not as good as before, making her somewhat reluctant to be so open with Shen Yiguang.

"I can wash myself. The space here is small, and no help is needed. If you worry about me falling asleep, just wait outside the door and talk to me."

Shen Yiguang disagreed and noticed her slight awkwardness, shaking his head inwardly, not knowing she looked more beautiful in pregnancy than before, her face softer. He tapped her nose, "Silly girl, don’t you dare lack confidence because you are always the most beautiful."

Ah, such a reassuring affirmation.

Yang Peimin looked at him, nodded, and chuckled, "Okay, I’ll take that for now. But if you dare show any signs of disgust, I’ll kick you out of the house."

Shen Yiguang shook his head helplessly.

After the shower, while still dressing, Yang Peimin felt extremely tired and had fallen asleep before even making it to the room. Shen Yiguang looked at her with a heavy heart, worried about what would have happened if she were outside, the way she could just fall asleep instantly.
