Chapter 260: Chapter 260 Weekend
During the weekend, Shen Yiguang came over to pick up his wife.
Yang PeiMin just said she wasn’t going back, for one, she still had things to discuss with Sister Liu, and for another, she wanted to take the two little ones to enjoy themselves in the downtown area, having heard that there was a lakeside park here where they could go boating and fishing, as well as bring some food for an outing, as if having a picnic. She hadn’t walked through a park or seen a movie with Shen Yiguang since they’d gotten married more than half a year ago.
If she didn’t make up for that time now, she would end up forgetting all about it, becoming assimilated by him, devoid of any romantic inclinations.
Shen Yiguang hadn’t expected her to come up with such ideas on the spur of the moment, but luckily, he had time as well.
That night, they opened another room at the guesthouse.
After putting the two little ones to bed, Shen Yiguang also took a shower and came out, chatting with her.
"You’ve got two letters sent to the base, but since I didn’t know if you had matters to attend to, I didn’t bring them over."
Yang PeiMin smiled and asked, "Who sent them?"
"Yiyue, Qiao Ying."
Yang PeiMin just nodded her head; they normally exchanged letters, so it was normal.
"That includes Yiyue’s for you, right?"
Shen Yiguang said, "Yes, she mentioned she’s started her classes and everything is going well. Yixiang also found a job. She’s been hired as a teacher at the primary school where you used to substitute. Dad and Mom are really happy about it."
"That’s great news. Yixiang was quite down for several days since she didn’t pass her exams. Now that she is able to work, Dad and Mom can rest easy. Plus, with the school being close to home and her coming back every day, there is someone to keep Dad and Mom company, so we don’t have to worry too much."
Shen Yiguang nodded, "It does seem like she’s become sensible."
"Now that it’s getting colder, I’m not sure how things are over there. One sister got into university, and the other found a job. We, as their brother and sister-in-law, should do something to show our support. I’m actually making some clothes and planning to send them back to them."
Shen Yiguang smiled as he looked at her, "You’re the boss."
Then he glanced over at the two children on the bed, "Both little ones asleep?"
"Asleep. They keep to the same schedule every night. They probably get some exercise at the daycare, so when it’s time, they just climb into bed and fall asleep obediently."
Yang PeiMin spoke with a smile, feeling that Luo Dahua’s two girls were really easy to take care of, both sweet and sensible, soft and adorable. Ah, she really hoped to have a heartwarming daughter of her own in the future.
As she was thinking, Shen Yiguang had already pulled her into his arms and whispered into her ear, "Wife, let’s go to my room."
Catching his drift, Yang PeiMin playfully pushed him away, "What if the kids wake up looking for me?"
"Wife?" Shen Yiguang’s voice was rich and husky, enticing, "We’ll come back after a while."
This guy was really holding back hard.
Half coaxing, half compelling, the two went to another room.
In the middle of the night, after he was finished, Yang PeiMin strongly objected to continuing, "Xiao Niu might need to get up to pee, I need to go check on her and make sure she didn’t kick off her blankets."
Shen Yiguang lay on his back in bed, savoring the pleasure of a moment ago, still wanting more, he said to her, "Mr. Lu and his wife have been gone for almost ten days now, I’ll send a telegram tomorrow to ask if everything’s been taken care of."
Yang PeiMin was somewhat speechless.
Where was the leadership demeanor now?
Shen Yiguang walked her back to her room, and on leaving, he kissed her forehead, "Go to sleep early."
The next day, with Shen Yiguang looking after the child, Yang PeiMin went to the sewing society.
Upon arrival, her first impression was that there were more people, some inquiring about clothes, and others among the female workers who aspired to be famous dressmakers, along with several sewing machines; Sister Liu really went all out, the investment was made swiftly.
"You’re here, come on in, have you had breakfast?" Sister Liu came out to welcome her and took her to the office inside.
"The shopping mall increased their orders, and our veteran workers are overwhelmed, so I thought about it and bought four more sewing machines, hired six more female workers, and cleared out some space on the side. I’ve worked in a tailor shop before, so I know their way of doing things..." As soon as they sat down, Sister Liu began talking about the recent affairs of the sewing society, also showing her determination.
Yang PeiMin listened with a smile and nodded, "I don’t really understand these things, sister, whatever you say goes. But it all looks good to me. People’s lives have improved in the last couple of years, work has become more relaxed, and young women and brides are willing to spend money on a couple of new outfits. I think it won’t be long before everyone can open their own clothing stores."
Sister Liu’s eyes lit up as she listened, familiar as she was with Yang PeiMin after having had many contacts. She knew some of her background, that her husband was a soldier in the local unit, and that she herself was an aspiring college graduate. She had insights and analysis on current events that were far stronger than her own circle.
Moreover, as someone who had managed sewing workers, she had come to feel just as Yang PeiMin had said, that people really were buying more clothes now than in previous years; from clothes, one could glimpse the economic situation of a family, and maybe this trend was slowly changing too.
"Alright, I got it, girl, you are capable. You don’t know how hesitated I was recently, due to some distressing family matters, I was so angry that I wanted to jump into the river. But then I thought about it, it couldn’t get worse than it was now, it was better to try and fight my way out. The accounts we settled recently helped me out a lot... As for these sewing machines, I had to swallow my pride and borrow money from the community to order them..."
The sewing society was still state-owned for now, and Yang PeiMin remembered that new policies would be coming out at the end of the year, meaning the society wouldn’t last much longer. She had been working with Sister Liu for a while and found her to be a very decent and honest partner. She thought that when the sewing society was dissolved, she could take over with Sister Liu and privatize it, aiming to grow the industry.
Regardless, both were very satisfied and hopeful about their prospects.
With the future cooperation in mind, they signed the contract again.
In her free moments, Yang PeiMin sketched out two designs. Winter was coming, and she knew how cold it was here. As someone who disliked the cold, she was very inspired while drawing winter wear. Of the two designs, one was for a trench coat and the other was for a cotton-padded coat, both with a lot of thought put into keeping warm.
Sister Liu looked at them and offered some minor suggestions. Yang PeiMin listened and agreed they were good. She made some small changes right in front of her, and both were satisfied, so they began preparations.
Yang PeiMin and Sister Liu discussed that they also needed to think about the fabric supply as some colors or materials were hard or impossible to find. They discussed whether it would be possible to place a custom order with the textile factory.
By the time Yang PeiMin left the tailoring society, it was already time for lunch. She hadn’t noticed it while she was inside, but time had flown by so quickly.
