Chapter 960: Chapter 763: Launching Rockets into Space_2

"A dragon flying through space, really? Why not say it’s a cosmic amoeba?" Aledy said.

"Well—this space station could also help us launch more satellites, act as a platform for weaponry and rocket launching, and test deep space exploration technologies. It must also be modular, allowing for future upgrades and modifications." Xu Yang pondered.

"Understood, I’ll make the arrangements." Lila nodded.

"Hey, uncle." Aledy waved, "And that very powerful guy, Maverick ’Titan’, has killed himself."

"Maverick? Hard to believe someone like him would commit suicide." Xu Yang pondered.

"You knew him?"

"Just like many famous hackers, he had a brief period of fame, did a few gigs and then got recruited by a big corporation." Xu Yang shook his head, "I didn’t expect him to be on my opposite side, and now he has killed himself too. Hmm..."

"What?"

"I don’t believe he committed suicide." Xu Yang raised his head.

"You’re pretty good at guessing, huh? Can you figure these things out? I also think so, he hesitated about not wanting to die one second, then shot himself the next, and died like an abscess." Aledy was curious.

Xu Yang closed his eyes to gather information.

"Who do we have in our intelligence department on the West Coast?" Xu Yang asked casually.

He could check himself, but also wanted to test if Aledy was familiar with the records.

"The strongest one is on the West Coast, she’s brave, and her skills are getting better and better." Aledy said.

"...Then I’ll send her to find Maverick’s family, maybe she can find some clues." he said.

"What are you expecting to fish out?" Aledy mocked.

"Don’t be so disrespectful." Lila whisked Aledy away.

With Lila grabbing her armpits, the 1.5 meter-tall Aledy was forced to leave the office with her feet dangling in the air, looking quite happy.

Who is more jovial, Aledy or Laughing Star? Xu Yang mused.

Farosa used to be quite humorous too, but not anymore, for reasons unknown.

However, it’s better if Farosa is not so capricious...

...

Meanwhile, on the West Coast.

Located near the southern beach are a row of upscale residences known as Infiniti Apartments, rented out by the same property company.

Partially burnt and looted during the "Black Current" data attack, half of them exhibit a charred and damaged appearance, while the rest still maintain their exquisite exterior, with the company providing high walls and private courtyards for gardening.

With emergency support from South Harbor New Shield security company, these luxurious high-rise apartments are closely guarded, with military drones hovering overhead to ensure the safety of the residents.

At this moment, in a beautiful apartment room on the 22nd floor, a young woman with short hair is continuously packing her belongings.

She is dressed in a neat and tidy grey business suit, looking like a grey nurse shark.

"We should leave this place as soon as possible, ma’am! It’s not safe here!" a soldier in a South Harbor New Shield uniform gently knocked on the wide-open door.

A vintage nameplate reading "Nakamura" hung on the door.

His hand rested on the trigger, eyes intensely focused on the woman.

"I know—just a minute." She continued rummaging through the room, every so often opening secret compartments in the wall, searching encrypted safes.

She continued to take out electronic devices from the room and stuff them into her handbag, hastily.

Finally, she stopped in one room, the outside soldier having waited too long, eventually walked in.

The apartment was clean and bright, easily offering a view of the famous large beach of the West Coast. It featured a fully equipped kitchen and multiple bedrooms, clearly meant for family living, though most rooms had been empty for years.

From luxurious floor-to-ceiling windows on the other side wall, numerous attractive views could be seen - parks, skyscrapers, and giant commercial buildings forming a lavish and opulent landscape.

The soldier saw her sitting at the base of the wall in the master bedroom, a data cable connecting the back of her right ear to the square interface on the wall.

He pulled out his gun and aimed it at her.

"Obey my commands, little girl, or you—"

She raised her hand, and a silent high-speed bullet shot out from under her sleeve, but it seemed to bounce off the soldier’s armor.

She tried to stand up to dodge, but was hindered by the cable connecting to the back of her ear, making it inconvenient to move.

The soldier moved forward with an aggressive posture and covered her, staring at her with his greedy eyes.

"You are Maverick’s daughter, Rachel." he said.

"That’s just a pseudonym." she hugged her knees, "Is there something about me that interests you?"

"Of course, I want you." He reached out and stroked Rachel’s cheek. "Once you’ve downloaded your father’s legacy, I’ll take you where you belong."

"..." Rachel stared at him.

"Lick my finger." he ordered.

She complied, her tongue passing over the soldier’s glove, her teeth lightly clacking.

Then she closed her eyes, slowly waiting for the information inside the wall to transfer to her mind.

Bang!

As the window shattered, spraying glass, an armored assault trooper burst into the room.

"Get away from her!" the assault trooper shouted.

Rachel raised her hand, and the soldier turned and fired.

A series of bullets hit the assault trooper’s body, riddling him with holes as blood covered him; he fell bloodied.

More drones approached the room.

"It’s over." Rachel unplugged the cable and rushed outside.

The soldier let out a hoarse laugh, taking Rachel down the stairs of the apartment.

Shortly after they left, they heard a lot of noise from the apartment upstairs, as if many people had suddenly entered the room.

"I’m glad you kept your cool; it would have been annoying if you kept shooting at me." The soldier’s appearance kept changing, from male to female, from old to young.

"I know you mean no harm."

"My last name is Du." Du Qianqian said.

"I have many names. Rachel, Nakamura Akina, ’Akira’."

"I just know you’re Maverick’s daughter, and I’m taking you to safety." Du Qianqian walked briskly.

"You are a hopeless and pitiful freak, I don’t like your twisted sense, although your fingers are sweet, soft." Rachel said.

"Hopeless? Many have said that. What’s the use?"

"Based on my knowledge of psychology, I deduce that you had a miserable childhood, never loved by a family."

"If you can’t talk, don’t." Du Qianqian said.

"And I had a great father, a strong and reliable person, who never mistreated me."

"But your great father committed suicide, died like a mad animal." Du Qianqian prepared the vehicle for departure.

"I’m well aware, so I don’t care whether you are from Kyushu High Pavilion, Nestor Corporation, or Rose Medicine; I just know that my father died as you said, like a senseless beast, and now a group of people want to destroy every trace of his existence. Whoever caused it, I will take revenge." Rachel walked downward.

"Even if you must confront the whole world." Du Qianqian said in a deep tone, starting a previously hidden Shuttle Machine.

"We are forced to confront the world the moment we are born; I never complain." Rachel spoke faintly.
