Chapter 904: Chapter 729: Firing the Lightning Cannon_2

Monopoly, further monopoly. Concentration, even greater concentration.

Perhaps it all ends like this: The Seven Seals unite a handful of top elites, leveraging technology and Magic Power to transform into the Immortal Alliance. Retain a fixed amount of scientifically and artistically trained professionals, then have AI play the part of several billion extras.

They don’t need to entertain the common people anymore; humans lacking outstanding skills only add to the instability risks. The Witch is just a footnote in this blueprint, disposable through brain extraction to build black walls, incapable of stirring any waves.

So, the forces of resistance around the world must be very strong. Farosa hazily conjectured.

There are over nine billion humans here, even nine billion pigs would shout loudly, wouldn’t they?

Thinking this, Farosa found it amusing. She had never considered before those scattered "collective strengths."

Now, perhaps influenced by this individual, she began to ponder what effect it would have if people around the globe united in a counterstrike.

As for herself, she intended to bring all the Witches under her command.

To bring about a brand new future... Is this the darkest hour before dawn?

"The Northern Archipelago is still okay, not like other places with large-scale spreading and full-on militarization," Farosa said.

"Because we gave up the burden right from the start, redistributed the benefits equitably, and burst the bubble. Optimists say we have ample room to grow; pessimists say we will stagnate for thirty years," the Cyber Specter said.

Farosa sorted out her thoughts. For the remainder of the journey, she maintained an eerie silence.

"Still thinking about Xylophia?" the Cyber Specter asked.

"I can’t stop thinking about her, especially the poem ’Daytime’ she wrote for me," Farosa’s voice turned particularly hollow.

—Since you’ve come among us, everything has changed. For you are daytime, extinguishing the Stars.

"Xylophia had great hopes for you," the Cyber Specter knew how important Xylophia was to Farosa.

"But I’m not powerful enough to save her, not by a long shot." Farosa’s tone carried a certain loathing, unsure if it was for her enemies or for herself.

They arrived at the blank salt land left behind after the destruction of Zanges, walking on Zanges’s ashen remains.

The land was flat like the barren soil of an alien world—grey, without any undulation or significant variation in hues, like an oversized absurdism poster that only a few critics could discern rhythm in its monotonous composition.

Locals all said this place was cursed, and avoided it like the plague. Some companies organized scientific research teams and search squads trying to collect relevant data from the ruins of Zanges to reverse-engineer the performance parameters of Destiny.

They probably returned empty-handed, and now the place is completely desolate.

There were three earthquakes ranging from 3 to 5 on the Richter scale in seven days. Experts say it was the attack from orbital weapons that triggered the change in geological structures, while locals say it was the dead screaming.

"The war is still ongoing, as we speak, fierce fighting is taking place in the Taiya Archipelago. Every hour, wars erupt in this era, with not a moment of truce," the Cyber Specter said.

"This is the bloodbath I wished for," Farosa whispered softly, "but now that it’s really here, I feel a shiver and numbness."

"Because you might lose."

"If I am destroyed, noble people will shed tears, successors will take up the cause, fall, and continue. But my downfall would become a noun in history, just like the demise of Empress Shira or the obliteration of Zanges," Farosa looked towards the destroyed city.

Many people and objects were crushed to the atomic level, if one used the Law of Recovery on a pile of ashes, it might sprout a thousand people and a hundred cars right on the spot.

"This is the first time you’ve said something like this," the Cyber Specter said.

"Indeed, I used to feel omnipotent, you know it, everyone understands it, I, Farosa, for a very long time felt like I could do anything in the world, boss everyone around, take whatever I wanted. But I missed Xylophia by a hair’s breadth, I don’t have absolute confidence against the Seven Seals. I... have finally hit the great barrier of Destiny," Farosa murmured softly.

Farosa stood at the crossroads of her life, waiting to make a choice.

After her encounter with Zanges, she reconsidered her life once more.

"We will get across." Cyber Specter confidently said.

"You’re really—your kind of optimism, you never speak of defeat." Farosa said.

"Judge the future with the most positive attitude when planning in the long run, and arrange strategies with the utmost caution when executing."

They walked in silence for about 30 minutes more.

Farosa looked towards the sea, which, at every tide, took tens of tons of ash from Zanges, dying the surface a frost-like greyish-white.

She watched the sea in silence, swallowing many resentments without a word.

"Recently, ’Lunar Fire’ Mond warned of great evil beyond the stars, so I cannot frivolously use the power of the stars. But the Seven Seals can launch advanced weapons without hindrance; perhaps the Seven Seals themselves are in cahoots with that ’Great Evil.’" Farosa said.

"There’s also the ’Giant Tower Project’ that still has no leads to date." Cyber Specter said.

"Only when we conquer the world will these secrets come to light." Farosa sighed.

Destroy the Seven Seals, rescue Xylophia.

They strolled across the ashes of what once seemed to be a harbor, intending to go further, but Farosa stopped in her tracks.

"This avatar has been active for a long time, its power is waning. I’ll find another to come by when the opportunity arises." Farosa looked at her hands.

"Understood." Cyber Specter said.

"It is both a moment and an eternity..." Farosa watched her body become increasingly translucent, then vanish, and eventually dispersed into specks of starlight, leaving no trace.

Cyber Specter watched the sea for a while, then also left.

By the lakeside, Sally directed her Ratmen to receive the goods from Hu’s Descendant, who excavated some Starlight Molybdenite from the seabed to the shore. The Ratmen believed these Magical Materials could activate their advanced technology.

"This metal is a material of the Vigilante Emperor." Cyber Specter observed the large rocks on the shore.

"Yes, so the White Ratmen believe this stone is a powerful energy storage material." Sally stood by, watching her Ratmen automatically start working, swift and fierce, constantly trying new things.

The White Ratmen are mutant variants among the Ratmen; they are tense and paranoid, as if driven by a strong innate impulse. Before they became Ratmen, they seemed to be particularly stubborn and cunning among Humans, possibly what turned scientists and philosophers from the folk into.

"Squeak, squeak!"

"Look at mine!"

"I will prove it—I will prove it to them!" The White Ratmen eagerly presented their designs, each with an ambitious project drawn on it.

If it weren’t for Sally’s coordination, they might have organized Black Rat Warriors to fight each other for the Starlight Molybdenite.

"Yes, yes. Starlight Molybdenite, a top-notch container, a crystallization of power, a treasure of the stars’ power." One of the White Ratmen approached the pile of ores.

Upon arriving at the lake, it noticed the glimmering light on the lake’s surface at night. These stones were miraculous, able to turn all whimsical Ratmen technologies into reality.

The newly mined stones were moist, emitting a soft purple glow.

It commanded burly Black Rat Warriors to load the Starlight Molybdenite into a weapon resembling a short-barreled cannon, the White Ratman’s eyes flickered with maniacal resolve, quickly dragging it into the firing range.

As it turned the handle, an ominous purple electric light rapidly flashed at the muzzle, aiming at the target ahead.

Boom!
