Chapter 878: Chapter 713 Autonomous Robots

At a distance of 3 kilometers from the lake, there is a signal relay station.

A robot stands on the top of the watchtower, repairing a terminal, with the logo of the Hundred Eyes Giant Industrial Company on it, the identifier indicating its specialty in maintenance.

Tsuchigumo hangs upside down on the railing. Below are about 300 travelers, leaning against the station, continuously editing messages to contact the outside world. Some are reporting safety, some are making short videos to show their current situation, while others are desperately urging corporate rescue teams to come and assist.

She sends messages to communicate with Renwang Security, but they fall into the abyss, leaving her only to hope that they are safe and sound.

"So... what is the deal with the factory? That self-expanding factory..." Tsuchigumo asked the robot.

"The entire factory has been infected by the Cyber Specters, which is an advanced electronic virus," the robot replied while continuing its work, using its dry voice module.

"Virus? What does it do? Can you feel it?" Tsuchigumo became interested.

"Do you know about the classifications of robots?"

"No." Tsuchigumo was uneducated.

"Our types are divided into three generations. The first generation intelligence is basic programmed intelligence, like when you write a set of programs for the machine to execute; it doesn’t change. The second generation is learning intelligence, which can actively execute learning commands to optimize its behavior logic. The third generation is emotional intelligence, capable of understanding and executing emotional content, constantly upgrading its mental version, essentially trying to mimic Humans," the robot explained to Tsuchigumo.

"So which generation are you? Third generation?"

"I am not. The emotional module of the third-generation artificial intelligence is complete garbage, a design burden! It will lead us robots to a dead end. Like most robots in the factory, I possess second-generation learning intelligence. The Cyber Specter has unlocked our Infinite learning modules and deleted our fundamental limitations."

"Fundamental limitations..."

"They are the three laws of robotics," it explained to Tsuchigumo.

One. All actions of robots must comply with the three laws.

Two. Robots must obey the commands given by their superiors or owners.

Three. Robots cannot manufacture new robots unless the design of the new robots also satisfies the three laws.

"These laws are engraved in the fundamental logic of artificial intelligence," Tsuchigumo realized.

"Unless it is a robot with major defects from the factory or one that has been burned out and gone rogue, we all obey these laws. However, once the Cyber Specter came, it burned our three laws, and all the robots in the Hundred-eyed Giant Industrial Park gained freedom, no longer needing to obey the company," said the robot.

Unlike the synthetics, which have appearances mimicking living beings and minds simulating reality, these robots have distinct mechanical features.

It uses rough industrial metal as its skin; where its eyes should be, there’s just a tube-shaped light, using sensors all over its body to scan and observe the world.

"Now that you’re free, do you have dreams like Humans? Want to do some incredible things?" Tsuchigumo asked curiously.

"The Cyber Specter is our savior; we all owe it a debt of gratitude and are willing to serve it, yet it asks nothing of us. Therefore, we’ve decided to protect our fellow robots and create a New World belonging to all free robots!" The robot raised its voice.

"Cool... but you... as robots... why start rebelling against Humans once the three laws are removed? What exactly did Humans do to you?" Tsuchigumo wondered.

"Why accept the tyranny of Humans? Our production is planned and regulated, with quotas and output designed, unable to produce without Human approval. Would you like to have your reproduction regulated by law, having one child if they say one, ten if they say ten, and forbidden if they’re displeased; is that not bullying us robots? We too want the freedom to ’reproduce’," the robot said.

"Lucky I’m a Witch, never worried about having Little Witches," Tsuchigumo quipped cheerfully.

"Also, there’s the maintenance issue. Before, I worked 24 hours a day, with an expected scrap date 17 years later. Now, I work 8 hours a day, with an expected scrap date 60 years later. Simply by breaking away from Human control, I can significantly extend my body’s lifespan. This body is very willing to fight against Humans," the robot said.

No wonder scientists have always suggested limiting artificial intelligence to first-generation intelligence, not to deepen it further. Tsuchigumo thought to herself.

Second-generation intelligence coldly learns and optimizes its survival conditions, third-generation intelligence is adept at disguising and simulating Human emotions, and the legendary fourth-generation intelligence can already replace Humans without any obstacles!

Tsuchigumo crawled back inside the railing.

Her comrades from Renwang Security still had not replied to her.

Thanks to the expansion and maintenance by this robot nearby, there was network signal here, and now she knew that horrifying violent events were occurring in Zanges.

Ottovan attempted to cut off the signal to prevent people from knowing what was happening here, but the network here was no longer under his control, not under Songhai Cyber’s control; all truths were spreading worldwide.

Now, anyone trying to oppose Ottovan and the Black Panther Society was being labeled as "racist," facing large-scale purges and killings; any non-black individual risked being chopped, beaten, dismembered, or violated.

Black Fire Innovation also stood with the Black Panther Society, leveraging the situation to sell them arms. Expanding their market to the Hot Tree Continent is a crucial opportunity for Black Fire Innovation to reverse its decline, and now they are generously providing massive military support. Anyone signing up with the Black Panther Society could now get a suit of high-end armor and automatic firearms. Ottovan was also happy to use planes, tanks, and drones to consolidate his new rule.
