Chapter 827: Chapter 679: Punishment_2
The remaining Ratmen hiding in the suburbs saw their companions being killed, resurrected, and returning with their souls incomplete. They squeaked in alarm, confused and unsure how to treat these resurrected fellows.
"They need Sally’s guidance. If you say you want to send Ratmen on an expedition, only Sally can be their leader," Mizuiro Yoshioka said.
"Very soon," Farosa acknowledged.
In the suburbs of Shangjing, the elite agents of the Bureau of Secrets, after much hardship, rescued Xu Cheng and her animal friends from the laboratory.
"Huff, huff..." Xu Cheng learned her lesson and resolved to become a better Witch.
"Where do we go next?" They turned their gazes toward the Chief, Seeking Shadow.
"If we’re lucky, Mizuiro Yoshioka has already found us help within the Witch Division. Possibly a Dominator Level powerhouse. With such a Witch on our side, we will have the power to fight the darkness within the corporation," Seeking Shadow said gravely.
Unbeknownst to them, they suddenly spotted a figure appearing amidst the trees.
"Ah—" Xu Cheng was startled when she saw Farosa approaching.
"Come with me, Xu Cheng," Farosa reached out her hand to Xu Cheng.
"I’m scared!" Xu Cheng was afraid of Farosa.
"Have you forgotten who just lent you a helping hand? Xu Cheng really has a poor memory," Farosa smiled.
"Goodbye everyone... I will miss you..." Left with no choice, Xu Cheng reluctantly agreed, thinking she was going to be consumed by Farosa, and bid a mournful farewell to the others.
Farosa took Xu Cheng’s hand and looked towards Seeking Shadow.
"Once you were just an insignificant Synthetic Human woman, but now you can stand on your own. I am very much looking forward to seeing how far the Bureau of Secrets will develop, and how great mysteries you can guard," Farosa said.
"We will not disappoint," Seeking Shadow said lightly.
A40 quickly looked towards Farosa.
Finally! The time has come! If he could compete with her, wouldn’t he gain the most precious combat experience in history?
A40 reached for his weapon.
In the next second, he was blasted away by a powerful repelling force, his body hurtling through the air like a cannonball launched into the other end of the forest, where Saiguchi Ryuuken and Ziyang Kui hurriedly ran to rescue A40.
Farosa then disappeared from the spot.
That night, Farosa appeared in the office of the Nestor Research Department.
Miyazato Kazama assumed a kneeling posture, with bent knees, body prostrated, head touching the ground, upper body arched, hands patting on the carpet beside her forehead.
"It’s really unfortunate that such a big incident happened in the Research Department!" She apologized loudly to Farosa, not daring to look up.
"Summon all the Witches you suspect," Farosa stood by the office desk, rubbing her fingers.
Miyazato Kazama, filled with trepidation, raised her head slightly and quickly contacted at least 20 Witch Researchers, ordering them into the office; they were all employed at various positions along this "industry chain."
When these 20 people arrived, they were frightened to see Miyazato Kazama, once so powerful, now kneeling beside another, more powerful Witch, seemingly with no dignity left.
They lined up, hardly daring to breathe.
"There is a dark chain within the Nestor Research Department, selling human parts, and perhaps... Witches’? Maybe... you’ve acted against civilians too?" Farosa walked in front of them with her hands behind her back.
They were silent, their expressions tense, each harboring their own thoughts, sweating, their skin cold.
Farosa closed her eyes and walked in front of them twice, while they had already prepared their defenses, thinking of what to say, and exchanged glances to judge each other’s stance.
But Farosa didn’t give them a chance to explain. She simply stopped walking, opened her eyes, turned around, and looked at them.
"You, you, you, you, the death penalty will be executed immediately," Farosa pointed at four of the Witches.
"What!"
"Ah—"
"How can you..."
"On what basis!"
Their expressions changed dramatically, and six Battle Witches immediately entered from outside, twisting the women away.
One of the Witch Researchers resisted fiercely and was struck by a weapon, turning into a corpse and dragged away.
The remaining sixteen Witch Researchers looked at the pool of fresh blood on the ground, their faces deathly pale.
"Their death penalty is not because their crimes are great, but because they are filthy, profane, and have low taste," Farosa said as she watched them being dragged away.
Farosa’s gaze returned to the sixteen bewildered witches who stood frozen in place.
She pointed to five of them.
"You five, imprisoned for 200 years," Farosa said.
Then she pointed to another two.
"You two, imprisoned for 100 years."
She pointed to three more.
"You three, imprisoned for 10 years."
After these ten witches were dragged away, the last remaining six Witch Researchers were scared and anxious; they were all Science Officers of different ranks, with the lowest being a laboratory assistant.
"Don’t worry, I know you resisted the temptation and even tried to report the situation to your superiors. You’ve kept your integrity in these chaotic times. Quite commendable. Your ranks are all promoted one level," Farosa said gently.
Overjoyed and in tears, they rapidly calmed down and began to praise Farosa on the spot.
After so many tough trials, they finally saw their wicked colleagues punished, and their own doubts cleansed.
"Many humans have also joined in these affairs—we must deal with them thoroughly!" a Witch Researcher exclaimed loudly.
"Let the president send them to destruction, her methods of punishment are only harsher, not lighter than mine," Farosa said with a smile.
After sending them away, Farosa’s gaze returned to the frightened Miyazato Kazama.
"I don’t know..." Miyazato Kazama stammered.
"You truly don’t know because you are absorbed in your own research. You want to create more powerful weapons. I like the new blueprints you’ve designed. I think all you lack are some of the rarest magical materials, some of the most important ancient knowledge," Farosa said.
"Yes! How did you know? If I could develop the ultimate weapon I’ve planned, we might even be able to truly annihilate all the mysteries of this world, just as powerful as your Godslayer Weapon," Miyazato Kazama now again fascinated by the technology, as if she had forgotten the fate of the twenty Witch Researchers just moments ago.
"Your subordinates gave in to the temptation of money, to some terrible influence. I have an idea of the kind of forces that are stirring behind the scenes. It’s not entirely their fault because the enemy watches us day and night, always finding a weakness," Farosa murmured.
"I really don’t know what happened," Miyazato Kazama said dejectedly.
"It’s a subtle and unconscious influence, first in dreams where the desire for money arises, followed by encountering psychological suggestions in reality, deciding to make a quick buck with peers, and then arriving are the ’overseas contacts’ to deal with, leading them to tarnish Nestor Corporation’s reputation, weakening our cohesion,"
"I heard it had something to do with the Ratmen?"
"Yes, but not entirely. The Ratmen are just one of the many beings who are fooled. Let me deal with it. I will give everything a proper conclusion," Farosa said gently to Miyazato Kazama.
"You are truly great," Miyazato Kazama praised.
Farosa stepped over the pool of blood on the ground, leaving the Research Department with light steps.
In the old sewer pipe facilities in the Suburbs of Shangjing, Farosa held Xu Cheng’s hand, navigating through the sewer pipes, with Tsuchigumo propping itself with its massive spider limbs to avoid falling into the sewage.
"Uh, why have you brought me here!" Xu Cheng was afraid, thinking Farosa might be planning to secretly devour her underground with Tsuchigumo as the accompanying sacrifice.
"Are you afraid of the dark?" Farosa asked.
"Of course," Xu Cheng shivered.
"Look," Farosa pointed forward.
The indicator lights along the tunnel flickered slightly, as if secretly guiding them on their way, making it easier for them to discern directions in the dark shadows underground.
Xu Cheng gaped, looking around at the numerous pipelines, signals, and electrical equipment. In the face of them, she felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity.
"I’m not afraid anymore," Xu Cheng said, her heart surging, as she quickened her steps to follow Farosa.
