Chapter 753: Chapter 626 Moon Separation Mine_2
```
"Move further in!" Xu Yang shouted.
"Whoa..."
"Who is it?"
"Who’s there!"
"Somebody’s coming in!"
```
At the entrance, several anxious miners came running over to see what was going on.
The soldiers and machines had calmed them down somewhat when they entered, but then the Wolf Girl burst into the mine with Little Fool in her huge jaws.
Upon seeing the giant and ferocious Wolf Girl, covered in dark fur, towering in stature, and menacing in posture, with her beastly form clad in specially made, transforming detachable armor, these miners were petrified. Her claws, shoulders, abdomen, and shoulder pads were all fortified with extra alloy.
"Arf, arf!" Snowball came in last, pacing nervously in place as five Frost Giants approached step by step like five Evil Beasts out for blood.
Even more terrifying was the "airborne giant threat" mentioned previously by the scouts on the Shuttle Machine.
Xu Yang looked up and saw a massive creature whizzing by in the snow and ice, completely obscuring the sky! It was like some doomsday monster, its form indiscernible. As it flew over their heads, Xu Yang instantly felt a deadly threat.
It seemed to have no wings, for as it moved, Xu Yang couldn’t hear the sound of flapping wings, or perhaps the storm noise was too loud, mingling all the sounds together.
"Arf!" Snowball barked at the aerial beast, but the sound dissipated into the wind.
"It’s too big," said Xu Yang as he ushered Snowball into the tunnel, then quickly retreated himself.
Thank goodness they had the Shuttle Machine withdraw directly. If they had delayed for reboarding, they all would have been wiped out by this giant creature, Xu Yang thought to himself.
Here, not only were there cold winds, but there were also especially powerful monsters and some kind of floating behemoth. Thankfully, the Shuttle Machine had already taken some of the information back to Shangjing. Next time, they wouldn’t be completely in the dark.
The pressing matter was to figure out a way to get to Yibei City and fix the network station. As long as the network was smooth, information between this place and Shangjing could be synchronized in real time. Now they could only rely on satellite communication to maintain contact with some stations and personnel, largely ignorant of most situations.
Xu Yang returned to the tunnel, where he heard heavy footsteps and turned to see those terrifying Frost Giants slowly approaching the mine entrance. They roared loudly into the mine, their enormous faces blocking the entire entry, their hollow, twisted expressions staring straight at Xu Yang, completely gruesome and ghoulish.
When they exhaled, the cold wind forced Xu Yang to retreat swiftly, and the tunnel between him and the Frost Giants began to sprout large ice formations covered in spikes.
Then, the Frost Giants’ faces moved away from the entrance and they instead stretched their hands in, grasping and searching, trying to pull Xu Yang out of the hole. Their thick arms caused crazy friction on the mine’s framework, making an extremely shrill noise, quite frightening.
Most High-Ranking Witches couldn’t face these creatures alone, Xu Yang mused. Only a Dominator Witch could confidently solo a Frost Giant, but where could they find so many Dominators? So far, only Pan Ruiyi and the newly advanced Takahashi Kyoko were such elites, veterans of many years in the Riot Control Mobile Unit.
The only one with hope of advancing to Dominator now was 102, also with particularly rich combat experience. In fact, she was already in the process of breaking through. In a few more months, she’d become the third Dominator.
Additionally, there was Miss Tenjouin Shino of the Dominator Witches...
Farosa’s current goal was to find The Great Abyss of the Black Fire Innovation and to take the opportunity to eliminate the Netherworld Giant God Elride himself; it would be wasteful to use her immense talents to kill these lesser Frost Giants.
It seemed that Nestor Corporation really lacked "strong central combat forces" capable of resolving situations everywhere. This weakness had to be addressed.
Xu Yang walked down into the mine, where the miners were hiding far off, not daring to come close.
"Why are they hiding so far away?" Xu Yang looked toward the miners in the darkness. They had all fled to the edges of the tunnel, with only about a dozen figures faintly visible.
"As I approached, they ran, and then there’s the Wolf Girl..." Ise Hanabi shook her head. She had little patience for ordinary people. It didn’t matter that they hid in the tunnels for now, as long as they didn’t interfere with the work and rest of Nestor’s personnel.
The Wolf Girl stretched out her long tongue and licked the fluff around her mouth, while Little Fool sat on her back, looking down at everything.
The other soldiers turned to Xu Yang, seeking eyes asking for him to step forward.
"It’s nothing, all a misunderstanding," Xu Yang moved forward,
"You say it’s nothing! You lured the monsters here!" One of the miners panicked.
"Gosh! We were hiding so well here, and now we’ve been discovered!"
"Exactly! Exactly!"
"What are we going to do now!" Standing in the dark, the miners felt uneasy about the soldiers and robots that had just intruded.
The situation was tense; they too had heard the commotion at the mine entrance and knew the mine was no longer safe.
"Don’t worry—we’re from Nestor Corporation." Xu Yang turned on the lights on his armor, bringing light to the pitch-black mine.
People exchanged glances, scrutinizing carefully as the soldiers showed their identification, causing the miners to swallow hard.
"Can you make the decisions?" a miner asked.
"Yes, I can assure you that we’re here to restore order," Xu Yang emphasized, "We’re here to protect Yibei City, we have collaborative relations, and we also have damaged assets here that need maintenance. Besides, as the security contractors of the Northern Archipelago, it’s our duty to drive out any foreign forces that intrude on the islands."
Xu Yang’s words brightened their spirits.
"Oh!"
"That’s great!"
"Finally!"
"Nestor Corporation is here to save us!"
"We’re saved!" The miners were buoyed up, all they needed was a clear promise.
The reputation of Nestor Corporation was well-known, and now they regained confidence in these armed individuals, the Witch with the great sword, and the monstrous giant wolf, who were warmly invited deeper into the living center for the workers within the mine.
Thanks to the advance of technology, even a mine in such a small village was equipped with high-grade alloy materials, more than sufficient for mining operations on extraterrestrial planets. These well-designed and qualified frames solidly supported the dome, tunnels, and all living areas, with no risk of damage or collapse even under the trampling and attacks of Frost Giants.
As soon as they entered, the miners hospitably offered them a place to rest.
These miners were mostly villagers from Tsukubetsu Town who had moved into the mine with their families at the onset of the cold wind. The mine was already prepared with fuel, food, and supplies for winter, which incidentally helped them avoid the Frost Giants wreaking havoc in the snow outside.
"Those monsters appeared with the cold wind... Miki the ronin went out to confront them and never came back. We’ve got over ten workers from our village making a living in Yibei City; they said they’d return two weeks ago, but not one has come back yet..." The miner recounted to Xu Yang and the others the plight of the small village after the disaster in Yibei City, his emotion evident.
Nestor Corporation had initially thought of waiting out the Frost Wind before making plans, but it was clear now that this was untenable. Xu Yang thought to himself.
Even if Yibei City could survive the first wave of cold wind, it would be buried in snow by next winter, and not just Yibei City; the disaster would soon spread south until Shangjing too became a winter wasteland overrun with Frost Giants.
Therefore, they must topple the Netherworld Giant God Elride... but that was an extremely difficult goal. If Farosa’s calculations were correct, Elride would have at least another Netherworld Giant God as an accomplice, and Yan Duo, due to sibling ties, could only watch from the sidelines without intervening.
The current Frost Wind was probably still being held back by Yan Duo’s best efforts. If the Ice Giant were to unleash its full power, the planet might become an entirely frozen world, a hundred times more terrible than now.
For now, they could only start by clearing the immediate disaster, building up their strength, and then looking for a breakthrough from the weakest point.
