Chapter 747 - 621: New Game
Chapter 747: Chapter 621: New Game
Somewhat melancholic,
after speaking with Xu Yang, Kanako walked to the mirror and observed her slender figure.
Outwardly, it was not apparent, but she knew that within her, a small life that Xu Yang had left behind was taking shape.
This child was bound to be extraordinary, with a father like Xu Yang, the most mysterious man in the world, and a mother like Kojima Kanako, who hailed from a noble family prestigious enough to be recorded in history.
Kanako hoped that the ideas of bloodline determinism would come into play at times like this, allowing the child to also become a remarkable individual, to establish their reputation and enterprise throughout the entire world.
Becoming a mother filled Kanako’s soul with pride, giving her endless courage and confidence.
She was determined to give birth to this child, to carry on her and Xu Yang’s bloodline.
This child also had a unique characteristic, Xu Yang may have dallied with various Witches, and he had Lila, a foster daughter he greatly valued, but only this one, only the one in Kanako’s womb was his offspring, his human offspring.
Kanako was unsure if Xu Yang had ever been with any monsters or mythical creatures, given that he was a mysterious and capricious man, nothing he did would be surprising.
She turned her head to look at the shadows at the end of the room, where Kanako’s ninja emerged from the darkness.
"Rinrin," the tall and full-figured female ninja greeted Kanako.
Jialong Slope was too hot, so the ninja changed their attire, wearing just a black chest wrap and thin black silk leggings, with a large scroll and ninja sword bound to her body, along with a light sniper rifle and various technical ninja tools, all highly conspicuous.
Kanako was very satisfied; she needed ninjas who kept up with the times. She had already formed a solid cooperative relationship with Shinobi Village. Nowadays, the ninjas needed Kanako’s financial support to continue passing down their ancient skills, and Kanako needed the ninjas to better expand her influence.
"How’s the security in Jialong Slope now?" Kanako asked.
"Rin. Last night’s ’cleanup operation’ took out seven filthy cargo holds in the dock area. Desperados really are endless," the female ninja replied.
"Sentence the captives, then select some to send to the studio," Kanako nodded.
"Rin. What about the plan to return to the Northern Archipelago?"
"Scrap it," Kanako looked out the window to the thriving scene of Jialong Slope. This corporate city was precisely the place where she could unfold her plan; she would become the City Queen of Jialong Slope.
It was not just for herself, but also for the child in her womb. She wanted to leave a substantial inheritance for her child, ensuring it would never wander the world alone. The child of Xu Yang and her was destined to have the best treatment and conditions for growth.
The most important thing was that she must stay away from Lady Farosa.
The jealous Lady Farosa could kill the child at any moment, Lady Farosa could tolerate Lila, but not Kanako. Therefore, Kanako must hide, stay away from Lady Farosa, and avoid contact with her to the greatest extent possible, to ensure the child wouldn’t face any threats and could grow up safely until it was capable of protecting itself. Kanako could only stay in Jialong Slope and might never return to the Northern Archipelago to avoid encountering Lady Farosa.
On the other hand, the delinquents caught in last night’s incident were downcast, dozens of them sentenced to fixed-term imprisonments ranging from 3 months to 5 years. They knew that Nestor Corporation’s involvement had turned Jialong Slope into a city with legal order, but they kept dreaming of striking one last score before escaping. Now they faced a stint behind bars.
A ninja appeared before them, leaving behind several electronic documents requiring fingerprint confirmation.
"Wow..."
"Ninja!"
"... The shadow army of the City Queen!"
They exchanged glances, then checked the documents with confusion, to their surprise, they found them to be a series of contracts. They could avoid jail time by playing a game, invited to participate in testing an under-development game world, doing their best to find bugs. The time spent game testing could be used to offset their sentences, and after the test, they could choose to stay in the game world or return to real life.
Out of the 40 people, 30 chose to accept the deal. Molding away or operating a sewing machine in jail wasn’t appealing, so they figured they might as well try out this agreement. How hard could playing a game be?
The personnel separated them and brought them from the corporate court to a unique integrated network center, each placed into a different gaming pod. After donning gaming helmets, they were loaded into the virtual game, quickly adapting to the mode just as they had in virtual game halls.
In an instant, they were each tossed into different units within the vast gaming space.
A man named Yamik was thrown into the wilderness, and, following his habit from playing other virtual online games, he first warmed up his fists and took a breath of the surrounding air.
It was a moderate climate on the plains, with dense forests covering the slopes around him, with no villages or monsters in sight for the moment.
"The realism is about 90%," he muttered to himself, then looked up to call out his panel.
The information panel included his physiological state, digitized attribute values, and other heads-up display systems, giving him a preliminary understanding of his situation.
Yamik then carefully checked his attributes, which seemed to have been converted based on his real-life conditions.
——Attributes——
Physique: 7
Agility: 7
Precision: 6
Awareness: 6
Intelligence: 3
Willpower: 5
Negotiation: 5
...
——
Since he didn’t know the attributes of an average person in this world, he couldn’t compare, and his equipment was nothing but rags that came with his origin, starting from scratch.
Following the usual patterns of playing games, Yamik started by gathering nearby, especially picking up a stick to serve as a weapon, which at least gave him the ability to bully the weak and infirm. He turned to look at a nearby settlement and finally found a cottage.
After surveying for a while, he discovered that the only person in the house was a young farmwoman with a good figure and charm, and he saw no trace of a man. Yamik realized this was a good opportunity to vent his frustration, and the house definitely had other food and tools for him to collect.
So, he followed her into the woods and when she was gathering mushrooms, Yamik pounced on her from behind, ready to violently defile the farmwoman in the bushes.
Yamik looked down and saw her gazing back at him with an especially plaintive look in her eyes.
That look gave him a strong sense of weirdness.
"Are you a robber?" she asked in a low voice.
"I’m a player," Yamik emphasized.
"What’s a player?"
"Idiot," Yamik scoffed.
As he was disturbed in this way and lost his mood, Yamik then dragged her back to the farmhouse and ate up all her bread, mushrooms, and wild fruits.
He tied her hands to the railing with a rope to prevent her from escaping.
On the third day in the game, Yamik found there wasn’t much left in the farmhouse. Worse, the house had attracted the attention of monsters, and he saw several goblins lurking nearby.
He could leave this deserted house and the tied-up woman for the goblins, but her warm presence and increasingly submissive nature made Yamik reluctant to give her up. So, he went out to drive away the two goblins and finally caught up with and killed one of them.
Yamik hung the goblin’s corpse on the farmhouse wall, believing it would keep other monsters at bay.
"They will come back, it’s not safe here," the woman bound to the bed reminded him.
"I’ll have to take you with me," Yamik said hesitantly after a long while.
"I knew there was a good side to you," she said with a smile.
"Stop talking nonsense," Yamik retorted.
"There might be an ancient Knights Guild to the north, we can only seek their assistance," she said.
"What’s your name?"
"Amy."
Believing he needed a woman like Amy for his long gaming journey, Yamik took her on the road. They spent several perilous nights, and Yamik found comfort in her company, further discovering that her presence helped him to adapt to the game world.
At the Knights Guild, he passed the tests with his initial physical capabilities and became an apprentice knight. After a series of battles, he rediscovered the Guild’s ancient treasure and was promoted because of it. He revived the Knight Orders and united all the nearby Humans, crushing the Goblin Kingdom in the dense forest. Amy bore him a child, but died in childbirth.
Her death left him feeling an immense loss. To acquire Power, Yamik turned to the dark side by holding a ritual to corrupt the entire Knight Orders, thus attaining otherworldly Power, then embarked on campaigns without turning back, gradually establishing his own power. He also used his foresight and knowledge to help his people climb the technology tree, inventing guns that held an advantage in war, becoming an existence worthy of historical note.
After 50 years of campaigning, Yamik established his own Empire and dynasty, with the son Amy gave him before her death becoming a qualified successor. He mobilized the nation’s entire might to find the source of Eternal Life, drank from the spring in the Holy Grail, and attained the path to immortality, which could track Divine Power.
After 1500 years of explorations, he became an immortal who traversed history, secretly guiding his descendants to continue expanding power. His blood spread among the world’s powers, and with such resources, he found all the conditions necessary to ascend to godhood. When civilizations under his surveillance just began to launch satellites on a few continents, Yamik also Ascended to godhood, obtaining Eternal Life and might that covered the entire world.
He overlooked all beings, controlling his endless authority and bloodline with confidence and a perfect divine nature, ready to continue pressing forward.
"Your 100-day testing period is now over."
Suddenly, a prompt popped up before him, saying his "sentence" was over and he should leave the game world.
Yamik was startled and immediately applied for an extension of the testing. Fortunately, there was this opportunity; when prompted to enter the desired extension time, he chose the maximum 200 years without hesitation.
The prompt disappeared, and Yamik steadied himself and used his immense power to delete his knowledge related to these annoying memories.
After another 170 years of effort, Yamik retrieved Amy’s lost soul. Although he had no feelings for Amy after such a long struggle, he still wanted to fulfill that initial, vague obsession.
"There’s good in you," Amy’s soul said, smiling at Yamik.
"I know," Yamik nodded slowly, cherishing Amy’s soul with a trace of longing. Next, he was to establish a cosmic Empire, with the whole star domain waiting for great men like him to dominate.
...
Outside, the staff collected detailed test records.
"They’ve helped optimize 19.8 million lines of dialogue, over 20,000 character models," they said, pleased.
"And these optimized emotional artificial intelligence... The companion-type AI finally has a chance, and there’s a trillion-dollar market waiting for us to explore!"
"We’re going to strike it rich now; with the latest AI models processed by us, Lord Kanako will be very pleased."
"They’re already sunken into our servers and harder to separate. We can consider saving on storage costs..." the staff checked their status.
"Our game is no less than ’Eternal Dimension’; it’s bound to sweep the world," another designer nodded, "Our philosophy is different, allowing them to do as they please in their isolated cells seems to have an advantage over those forced-socializing MMOs. After so many tests, the real launch isn’t far away."
Thinking of the Funds and fame they would earn from the game in the future, the developers couldn’t wait to push it out to the world.
Meanwhile, in a secret chamber in the Northern Archipelago, the Seven Witches gathered to hold a ritual.
"Awaken, most honorable Lady Farosa..." they convened their belief, pursuing that ample possibility.
The Witch Goddess, reborn among humans.
