Chapter 730: Chapter 608 Revenge
The White Salamander and the Book Page Peacock, two mythical creatures, engaged in a frenzied confrontation by the riverbank.
The salamander and the giant bird tangled wildly, claws and teeth leaving scars on each other’s bodies. Their brawl was earth-shattering and could be heard clearly from afar, as if hammers pounded on the soul, bringing waves of terror. The White Salamander had modified its body, and its scales had become mirror-like. In contrast, the Book Page Peacock had to fold its tail to prevent itself from being driven mad.
"Charge!"
"Take that arm!"
"Quickly reclaim important resources!"
The Intervention Army had completely fractured.
Originally, they had united briefly to obstruct the ritual; now the ritual was thoroughly disrupted, leaving the Great River Goddess’s entire arm on the ground! Under such temptation, their first thought was to plunder the arm, even if it meant cutting it off and stealing a part; the remains of a demigod were, without a doubt, treasures beyond value.
The surviving Great River Followers recovered from their initial shock and reorganized their defense, protecting the remains of their venerated demigod by relying on artillery, cover, and trenches.
Many, in desperation, chose to flee, while the rest, resolved to die if necessary, fought to defend their goddess’s remains even at the cost of their lives.
The battle escalated into its most brutal phase.
"Let’s go!" Rinne pushed forward.
Ratatat—
A succession of bullets swept across the ground in front of Rinne.
Her heart skipped a beat as she turned to see Aiden the Crusher firing at her.
She immediately leaped backward in the air to dodge the bullets, tumbling into a crater nearby.
"I knew you were a son of a bitch—" Rinne gasped for air against a mound of dirt.
The others were too preoccupied with seizing the arm of the Great River Goddess to care about the personal grievance between Aiden and Rinne on the battlefield.
"I remember you, I will take you away, I will reclaim you, I will tear you to pieces!" Aiden the Crusher emitted a cold, merciless electronic sound.
He strode toward the mound where Rinne was hiding and shot a rocket from his Bomb Cannon.
Boom boom!
The rockets exploded beside Rinne, the shockwave, flinging shrapnel and mud, slammed into her forcefully.
She rolled in agony, sprinting across the ground, running between different covers as if executing a massive flanking maneuver.
"You’ll end up like your companions, smashed to pieces!" Aiden flew into the air, pursuing and hunting Rinne with frenzied fire from his heavy machine gun. Her frail body seemed extraordinarily small amid the gunfire and rain of bullets.
Lu Jing was on her way to find the severed arm when she turned and saw this scene, causing her scalp to tingle with fear!
She shouted loudly and released the Cyclone Sword. The sword flew in from behind, instantly hitting Aiden’s back, slicing open his metal casing and leaving a gash.
"Hm?" Aiden the Crusher turned sharply, his eyes glowing red as he focused on Lu Jing. Ignoring her status as a Green-clothed maid, he immediately turned his gun toward her and fired, "You can die too!"
"Hiss—" Lu Jing quickly raced across the damp ground and dove into the trenches that the followers had dug out.
Hiding in the blind spot, she continued to use Digital Mind to remotely control the Cyclone Sword to attack.
The Cyclone Sword sharply hacked at Aiden, an annoyance for him since it wasn’t his first time encountering such a weapon
"Flies!" Aiden the Crusher swung his energy arm blade, the high-temperature plasma blade whizzing past, slicing through the Cyclone Sword. Its metal casing quickly melted, hissing and sizzling, diminished in power.
"Dammit..." Lu Jing’s face was pale with grief from the damage to the Cyclone Sword.
She had never considered Aiden the Crusher to be so powerful! This fully modified artificial monster was indeed a significant force of the Namisis Group.
After fending off the Cyclone Sword, Aiden dove back toward Rinne.
Rinne, on the other hand, moved away from the main battlefield, headed toward the direction where the Book Page Peacock and the White Salamander were fighting fiercely.
"Go join your friends!" Aiden continued to shoot at Rinne.
Her figure was increasingly caught in the bullets’ aim, and her arm and leg were each shot. She suddenly lost strength, pitched forward, and barely crawled into some bushes.
Aiden launched rockets toward her, the horrific bomb exploding beside Rinne, sending her flying high before crashing into the mucky riverbank.
She tumbled several times and lay still.
Meanwhile, the explosion of this rocket also drew the attention of the White Salamander.
It broke off one of the Book Page Peacock’s wings with a swipe of its claw and turned to scream at Aiden the Crusher in the air, spitting out a dazzling flash of Magic Power from its mouth, striking Aiden’s body and igniting it instantly.
Aiden extinguished the fire on his body quickly, realizing that this was Rinne’s tactic, luring him to the site of the mythical creatures’ battle.
The heavy firepower inevitably affected the two monsters, turning himself into a target of their attacks.
Enraged by Rinne’s lowly trick, he immediately swooped down, intending to get past the White Salamander to find Rinne.
Rinne opened her eyes, lying in the damp sludge by the riverbank, the torrential rain lashing down on her.
The moment of revenge had come.
Gathering the last of her strength, Rinne pressed a hand to her forehead, swiftly locked onto Aiden’s position, located the network access point on his body, and sent a targeted hacking packet.
Aiden’s network defense module quickly detected the hacking attempt and executed a disinfection and cleaning procedure.
"Useless!" Aiden punched forward, continuing to bombard Rinne’s direction with a barrage of rockets.
The White Salamander and the Book Page Peacock, mistaking the rockets overhead for attacks against them, immediately roared outrageously in rage.
What does this have to do with mortals!
The White Salamander quickly stepped on the Book Page Peacock’s head and leaped up, wrapping its tail around one of the rockets and then flinging it back. The bomb exploded beside Aiden, the intense flames and heat wave causing his flight angle to steeply tilt.
Aiden the Crusher quickly ascended, soaring into the high skies to avoid being pursued by the mythical creatures below.
Rinne, taking advantage of the mythical creatures’ cover, hid among the reeds on the riverbank, enduring bleeding wounds and burning skin all the while continuing to hack into Aiden’s systems.
For this moment, she had simulated over and over.
Every night... for 1,200 days since her defeat, Rinne replayed that terrible encounter night after night. She repeatedly recalled and deduced, forcing herself to remember those bloody facts: Aiden the Crusher killed all her companions! They were crushed! Their heads blown off!
She was intimately familiar with it now; in those 40 months, she did countless exercises to enhance her hacking skills, and Xu Yang’s teachings filled in the last gaps. Now, her meticulously edited program was enough to find a crack in Aiden’s constantly shifting defense modules.
Rinne’s eyes were bloodshot as she gazed upwards at Aiden the Crusher in the sky.
"What the!" Aiden’s network defense module alarmed, some hacking data packets broke through his top-level defense system and infiltrated into his core system.
Immediately after, Aiden felt the system’s balance was compromised, and the flight power system malfunctioned.
In the process of rapidly flying away, the slightest error could significantly alter his flight posture, and the next second, his body plummeted abruptly in the torrential rain!
Aiden the Crusher, weighing 450 kilograms, was now suffering from insufficient propulsion system power, unable to stabilize his flight direction.
He desperately tried to start the backup engines on his back, repeatedly attempting to ignite, but the moist environment and plummeting heavy rain were affecting the machine’s function, making it impossible for him to save himself!
"Roar!" The White Salamander below had been waiting for a long time, smashing the head of the Book Page Peacock with its tail while seizing the opportunity to leap up and bite Aiden the Crusher, who had fallen!
"Aaaaaahhhhhhhhh——" Aiden let out an enraged roar as the White Salamander’s sharp teeth penetrated his body.
After a series of biting and tearing, the sounds of metal crushing echoed, and the noise of components being smashed resounded again and again! Half of Aiden’s body was being ripped apart!
With a violent shake of its head, the White Salamander flung Aiden’s upper torso away, spitting out large chunks of metal debris, then turned to continue tearing at the scarred Book Page Peacock.
Aiden the Crusher cried out as he crashed onto the muddy ground.
He propped himself up with his two strong arms; from his broken waist sprouted hundreds of wires, metal connectors, and electronic cables, all now soaked in the downpour, worsening the damage.
Mercury, fuel, and chemical supplements poured out in large amounts from his shattered storage tanks, just like a human bleeding.
"I’ll tear you apart!" Stripped of legs and hips, Aiden crawled on the ground using his elbows, desperately moving toward Rinne on the riverbank.
Rinne had already taken several shots from Aiden just now; her complexion was pale, and most of her body felt numb.
Except Lu Jing, who was still trying to come to Rinne’s rescue, nobody else paid attention here. The White Salamander was also roaring as it crawled away. Only she and Aiden were left here.
"Aiden the Crusher..." Rinne gritted her teeth.
"I killed all your comrades! It was just business as usual for me!" Aiden let out a loud roar.
"You bastard!" Rinne cursed loudly.
"I crushed one! I blew the head off another! I chased down another! It’s just you left!"
Rinne’s hands kept shaking, her forearm burned by Blackfire ached faintly, the Butterfly Monomolecular Wire already prepared.
"Did you kill the driver?" Rinne muttered.
"I ripped his head off his neck! You’re the only one to survive till today! Hahahaha! From the West Coast to the Northern Archipelago, running right to my face!" Aiden burst out with a violent laugh.
"Go to hell!" Rinne drew her seven-millimeter pistol and fired at Aiden’s head. The bullet pierced his artificial skin and glanced off his titanium skull.
"You can’t fight at all." Aiden’s arms stretched forward, seemingly unable to move any further.
Rinne dropped her pistol, sprinted forward, and shot the Monomolecular Wire from her arms, aiming for Aiden’s head.
Aiden’s head quickly dodged, avoiding the cut of the Monomolecular Wire.
Subjective Slow-time Implant! Rinne’s heart jolted. He could still use it?
The next second, Aiden raised his arm, and a hidden gun barrel fired a heavy shotgun blast.
The split bullets swiftly tore through Rinne’s body, knocking her back and streaming blood all over, as she fell into her own pool of blood.
"Rinne... Rinne..." Lu Jing stumbled over, having been affected by the battle between the Book Page Peacock and the White Salamander on her way here. It took all her effort to cross the battleground. Now, she witnessed Rinne being executed by Aiden, tears streaming incessantly. Lu Jing quickly maneuvered the Cyclone Sword to behead Aiden from behind.
Aiden’s severed head rolled on the ground. Lu Jing’s mind went blank, rolling and crawling to Rinne’s side. Rinne was soaked in blood, her eyes glassy.
"Help, save her—" Lu Jing’s tears gushed out as she knelt beside Rinne crying to the heavens. She felt terrible, truly terrible.
"Huh..." Blood flowed from Rinne’s mouth.
When Aiden fired, Rinne had also reacted at super-high speed using her Subjective Slow-time Implant, but the large coverage of the heavy shotgun blast still shredded half her body.
Her blood stained her white hair red.
Chiyuki Sajou rushed over with a medical kit and quickly performed the Moonlight Ritual to administer first aid to Rinne. She was horrified to see Rinne’s left side riddled with bullet holes.
Lu Jing initially couldn’t see clearly, but now illuminated by the magic formula’s light, she could see Rinne’s mangled body and cried even louder.
"I don’t want, I don’t want you to die..." Lu Jing lay in agony beside Rinne, tears unending. Who will save her? Who will rescue everyone?
Elsewhere, even louder roars erupted. The White Salamander’s screeching completely overpowered the Book Page Peacock’s laments as it opened its gaping mouth, its sharp teeth biting through the Peacock’s throat, twisting off its head!
Then, the White Salamander crazily crawled towards the severed limb of the Great River Goddess.
