Chapter 727: Chapter 605 Decisive Battle_2

He saw the news and estimated they had already joined the fierce battle.

Then, the lights of the entire hotel flickered, a brief power outage.

"Where’s the electricity?" Hosoda Yoshiyuki felt the lack of a comforting surge of power from the sockets.

Had the Old Poet made his move? Realizing that the time window given to him by Hazuki was short, he made an excuse to Hosoda Yoshiyuki about looking for Snowball and then left the medical ward.

The mission commenced.

Hazuki, from his hidden spot, cast a magic formula and entered the ventilation duct using the Art of Gasification, approaching Kanako’s room as planned to observe the situation within.

There, Kojima Kanako was sitting at the desk, doodling on her terminal.

Seemed like she was practicing sketching? Kanako was drawing a portrait of a man, which was actually a likeness of Xu Yang.

Hazuki did not recognize the man, while Kanako was fascinated by her own drawing of Xu Yang, using this method to dispel her loneliness since she could not gain his full attention.

Shortly after, Kanako got up; she complained about the power outage over communication and began to inquire about vacation information as she walked out of the room, seemingly heading to the hotel’s helipad, preparing to leave Jialong Slope for a while.

Kojima Kanako taking a vacation? Hazuki felt a tinge of surprise. It was understandable, though; after so many events at Jialong Slope, things were stabilizing. Plus, days of heavy rain could easily dampen one’s spirits.

Someone like Kojima Kanako wouldn’t stay in such a place for too long; she would wait for the weather to improve before returning to the Xisheng Hotel.

Regardless, this was an opportunity.

It was at that moment the lights in the hotel flickered again, and the power was restored.

Without a second thought, Hazuki swiftly moved through the corridor in a gaseous state thanks to the Art of Gasification, slipping through the door’s crack into Kanako’s room and reassumed human form.

Kanako’s handheld terminal was still on the desk.

Hazuki immediately inserted the chip given by the Old Poet into the terminal to begin stealing and transferring intelligence.

Unfortunately, it seemed there was some sort of technical malfunction, or perhaps he had encountered an unusually precise defense program, as the anticipated results failed to materialize for quite some time.

Hazuki stared at the portrait, feeling as if the man in it was staring back at him. Who the hell was this guy? Hazuki frowned. The screen suddenly went dark in a flash.

"Woof!" A mechanized dog suddenly burst out from under the bed, ferociously biting Hazuki’s leg.

Snowball!

"...!" With a forceful kick, Hazuki was bitten by Snowball on a piece of flesh from his calf before kicking it onto the bed.

Being mechanical, the fall didn’t bother it; it quickly regained its balance and kept barking incessantly at Hazuki.

Hazuki knew the situation was bad, snatched up the gun given by the Old Poet, and Snowball, afraid of bullets, jumped to the other side of the bed.

He picked up Kanako’s terminal. As long as he took it with him, all was not yet lost.

Hazuki dashed toward the corridor; Kanako, who heard the commotion while on her way back to the room, was startled upon seeing Hazuki and immediately ran outside, seeking support.

"Help!" Kanako cried out.

Hazuki realized that kidnapping Kojima Kanako could also be a winning possibility.

As he ran briskly, he chanted spells to increase his combat strength, and when Kojima’s Ninja appeared, he promptly recited an incantation, transforming into a high-speed electrically-charged gas, zipping through the female ninjas and heading straight for Kojima Kanako.

Elite soldiers of the Nestor Legion rushed to guard the place; they were robust and strong, selected from ordinary soldiers as the elite. Hazuki did not wish to confront them physically, so he continued to soar over their heads, following Kojima Kanako as they shouted commands and fired shots to delay Hazuki’s pace.

Kanako rushed toward the helipad.

The effects of Hazuki’s gasification were about to end, and releasing it again would take time. He transformed back to human form, turned the corner, moved through the corridor, ready to capture Kanako.

Hosoda Yoshiyuki activated the rocket propulsion and burst forth from the slant!

He hovered in the corridor, blocking Masasuke Hazuki’s path.

When Kojima Kanako looked back and saw the tall and swift Hosoda Yoshiyuki blocking Masasuke Hazuki, she quickly seized the moment to retreat.

Hosoda Yoshiyuki felt odd, he was actually helping a businessman’s daughter to escape! This was truly the most counterintuitive thing he had ever done in his life.

"I can’t let you pass, it ends here," Hosoda Yoshiyuki extended his hand.

Due to a shared oath, Hosoda Yoshiyuki couldn’t be rough with Masasuke Hazuki.

Masasuke Hazuki drew his katana quickly.

"You won’t strike me, will you, little brother Hazuki, we are in the same oath," Hosoda Yoshiyuki murmured.

Masasuke Hazuki had already prepared a way to break the oath, the Forest Master tried to capture his spirit, but only met air.

The Shadow Wolf betrayed the oath.

Hosoda Yoshiyuki needed time to enter armed state, Masasuke Hazuki seized this moment and thrust his katana into Hosoda Yoshiyuki’s face, the blade piercing the skin and aimed at his brain.

He pulled the blade out, and blood gushed like a fountain.

Hosoda Yoshiyuki’s head was pierced, but his mechanical body continued to carry out the fixed instructions from the chip, swinging his arm blade forcefully, striking Masasuke Hazuki in the ribs.

Masasuke Hazuki gasped in pain, released lightning with one hand, passing through Hosoda Yoshiyuki’s body, his entire body scorched, his eyes almost exploded, and countless cheap implants overloaded and caught fire.

More Nestor soldiers chased from behind, Masasuke Hazuki saw reinforcements nearing, swung his blade fiercely, cutting off Hosoda Yoshiyuki’s arm to prevent further interference.

The interval between spells had passed, Masasuke Hazuki frowned, recited the magic formula again, and with the terminal device, became a gas and disappeared.

Hosoda Yoshiyuki fell to the ground, his flesh charred, smoke wafting from his body, his severed arm on the ground.

"Woof!" Snowball ran from behind, "Woof woof!"

"..." He was heavily modified, the chip with the damaged brain maintained barely sufficient intellectual functions, playing intermittent synthetic sounds, "How did I... die protecting a businessman’s daughter?"

"Aroo!"

"Why? I’m a poor man, died for a rich person? I..."

Hosoda Yoshiyuki’s face was full of confusion.

Snowball crawled over, circled around the deceased Hosoda Yoshiyuki.

"Woof." It said and then nudged Hosoda Yoshiyuki’s body with its head, "Woof."

Elsewhere, Masasuke Hazuki retreated to their hideout in the heart of Jialong Slope.

As long as they decrypted Kanako’s terminal device, they would be completely victorious.

Rushing to the safe room, Masasuke Hazuki placed Kanako’s terminal on the tabletop.

"I need you to help me crack this... I’ve brought it back," Masasuke Hazuki, holding the terminal device, went to a corner of their hideout.

He pulled back the curtain and saw the Old Poet lying on the hacker chair, bleeding from every orifice.

What happened? Masasuke Hazuki felt the Old Poet’s breath, very faint, the terminal beside him displaying gibberish, the blurry pixels forming images of a Crossed Cross, Seven-pointed Star, and Roaring Evil Spirit.

Masasuke Hazuki knew he had to figure something out, he was now being tracked, and he couldn’t bring the threat back to their hideout. He swiftly walked out, looked at the pouring rain, and felt a bone-chilling cold, now he was alone. Anyway, he had to get Kanako’s terminal device out of Jialong Slope.

He held his breath and disappeared into the endless downpour.
