Chapter 707 - 593: The Crack

Chapter 707: Chapter 593: The Crack

Seeking Shadow’s artificial eyes took in the sight of the man’s sweat-soaked shirt and the piles of stamp packaging bags inside the room, feeling overwhelmed.

"Scram!" the jittery man jabbed his gun forward.

Seeking Shadow felt a tug, and Masasuke Hazuki had already pulled her quickly through the area. As they left, the man’s hostility gradually subsided. He cursed loudly for a while, then turned and went back inside the house.

"I could hardly speak, I was so close to snapping. This place is a mess," Seeking Shadow sprinted away.

"Negotiation is not your strong suit," Hazuki said as he forcefully leapt over the 2.5-meter gap between two houses.

Below were sprawling stalls selling fruits and food, bananas, Dragon Fruit, pineapples, and various bizarre synthetic fruits laid side by side, sewage flowing everywhere, with wild dogs and carrion-eating monsters crawling around.

The indigenous drifters looked on, pointing and commenting. Their expressions cold and cruel, they were tormented by various diseases. Even if hunger and sewage had not claimed their lives, the aging of poor-quality implants would make them suffer immensely.

Seeking Shadow extended her hand, firing a grappling hook that secured onto a metal water pipe protruding from the opposite rooftop. Then she triggered the device, and the rope began to retract quickly, pulling Seeking Shadow towards the opposite building.

Clang—

While the pipe was sturdy, the cement on the wall where it was fixed cracked unexpectedly. The pivot point that Seeking Shadow relied on for maneuvering became deformed in an instant, and she started to fall!

Hazuki immediately reached out to grab the line she used for high-speed movement, yanking her up from below.

Seeking Shadow’s figure swept over hundreds of heads below her. Her legs involuntarily stretched out, nearly kicking all of them to pieces. Thanks to Hazuki’s vigorous pull on the rope, she was hauled to a higher place.

"Die!"

"Woah!" The people in the market below yelled upwards.

Rushing, Seeking Shadow climbed atop the opposite building, continuing her pursuit of Cold Bay’s Thugs.

"Thank you." Seeking Shadow turned to see that Hazuki’s hand was cut by the sharp rope, blood gushing out, "Your hand..."

"I’m tough," Hazuki said.

He crossed the metallic roof beneath him and stopped at the edge. From this vantage point, Seeking Shadow could see that the modified cars they were chasing had stopped next to a narrow street, with one thug after another jumping off, apparently their lair was a factory.

Seeking Shadow immediately signaled for backup.

Hazuki crouched down, watching them, then murmured a spell, his body rapidly transforming into a mist. As the wind howled, he soared towards the ground, using the strength of the wind.

When he neared the ground, the strong winds around him were gradually blocked by the surrounding complex buildings, allowing him to move better without being dispersed.

Seeking Shadow waited in silence.

She heard the whirring of an engine approaching from afar, realizing ally reinforcements had arrived. Only then did she leap from the rooftop, landing amidst the vicious thugs.

"Enemies incoming!"

"Attack!" They shouted and hollered.

A large, modified brute charged at Seeking Shadow, roaring. His skin was rough, almost like a steel bull.

Seeking Shadow picked up her Flame Tide and pulled the trigger.

Boom!

A barrage of red energy blocks blasted from the barrel, instantly blowing apart the brute’s body!

He didn’t even have time to scream, the center of his body was instantly burned to energetic dust, leaving behind bloody fingertips, feet, and the upper half of a burning head.

"Hiss—"

"Help!"

"Damn it—" The other thugs, upon seeing this terrifying sight, were instantly filled with terror.

Seeking Shadow then aimed her gun at another thug close to her, pulling the trigger. Scattershot high-temperature energy blocks instantly pierced his body.

"Arrgh!" A more piercing scream followed; tiny energy particles dispersed through the thug’s body, puncturing most of his organs, arms, and legs, as if several circular cracks were carved into his body, opening seven or eight fist-sized holes, his clothes instantly igniting and sticking to his skin.

He screamed miserably in place until his entire body collapsed with the widening cracks.

Wow. Seeking Shadow, holding her Flame Tide shotgun, immediately aimed at others. Their morale plummeted, stumbling and staggering deeper inside.

"How did they find this place?"

"Go!"

"Company security!"

"Robots!"

"Big companies are here!" They screamed and shouted to each other, preparing to organize a defense or retreat.

Feeling like a hitman sent by a super corporation, Seeking Shadow mused. Sort of a Scavenger, with a sense of being slightly naughty.

After locking onto the location, ally Shuttle Machines had also arrived.

"Where are the enemies!"

"Where are the enemies!!" Elite Soldier Robots descended from above, following in, wreaking havoc and slaughter.

"We still have hostages—" The thugs rushed towards the room where they kept hostages, but found that Hazuki had somehow already arrived.

He stood alone at the doorway, spells already recited, his body glowing with the protection of various enchantments.

Silently, he raised the knife in his hand.

Fight then, the answers will come. With this thought, Hazuki charged into the crowd of thugs.

...

By the time Seeking Shadow and the others arrived, the corridor was already a bloody river, and Hazuki walked away with his blood-stained knife. Seeking Shadow opened the door to the back room, where a dozen or so agitated company employees cried out in extreme joy, screaming loudly, completely overwhelmed by the joy of being saved.

"We’ve been saved!"

"Thank you! Thank you!"

"We’re finally alive!" They clambered toward their rescuers, expressing their deepest gratitude, their joy evident.
