Chapter 690 - 577: Dead End
Chapter 690: Chapter 577: Dead End
raised the gunlance, firing at the spearmen, and with a massive gunshot, a huge blast of flames erupted amidst them, one spearman was hit directly by the shell, instantly suffering severe damage, the entire mech body losing 50% of its mass in the super-heated meltdown.
The shockwave tore through its arms, and blasted its comrades into disarray.
blocked the dock’s entrance, while 101 quickly teleported above to the fixing arm that locked the submarine in place, drew the Shilou Maru from behind, and with a swing, severed the chains.
The submarine quickly tilted downward, and if they continued to cut off the restraints, it would fall into the water, becoming an escape tool!
"Ah!" A40 shouted, its frontal bulletproof armor already riddled with numerous bullet holes, its mobility greatly reduced.
With the support of 101 and 102, A40 quickly moved to the crouching Huang Feng’s side, struggling to kneel down, and held her tight once again. Huang Feng stopped drawing circles, startled out of her illusions, crying and screaming.
"What’s wrong with her! Now is not the time to scream!" 101 scolded while chopping the chains.
"Huang Feng has gone mad! Take her and leave! Forget the submarine!" A40 yelled.
"You’re too heavy, I can’t teleport far if I carry you!" said 101, cutting another chain with the Shilou Maru.
Losing its balance, the massive submarine began to emit a piercing hum, tilting half its body downwards, soon to fall into the water.
A40 knew its metallic body weighed 780 kilograms, immediately shouted, "I don’t need to go! I’ll stay here! Take Huang Feng away!"
"Shut up! You go take care of her yourself for the rest of her life!" 101 said, swinging his blade forcefully, the Shilou Maru, an invincible divine weapon, cutting through the last alloy steel cable.
The massive submarine, free from its metal suspension, quickly fell towards the dock’s water channel, like a bomb hitting the water.
Boom!
The submarine caused a huge splash, sending seawater flying everywhere, first sinking then automatically resurfacing. 101 jumped down, opened the hatch, and ordered A40 to squeeze in with Huang Feng. Next, all they had to do was open the sea gates, and they could escape by submarine.
was hammering the spearmen with her gunlance at the front, fully unleashing her firepower and magic power, her rigid and robust body hidden under tightly fitted armor, her expression cold and indifferent behind the sealed visor.
She skillfully blasted the spearmen, their huge wreckage conveniently blocking the path, preventing other spearman robots from reinforcing, they could only keep firing without daring to use grenades that would cause the tunnel to collapse, making the road impassable.
Then, a deadly black fire rapidly crawled over.
It mercilessly corroded the spearmen along the way, melting the metal husks of the robots amidst piercing sizzling sounds, illuminating the entire underground passage with burning flames.
"Blackfire is here!" 102 backed away.
She had 101 climb into the submarine, shut the hatch, then aimed the gunlance toward the sea gate, activating the magic runes on it, pulling the trigger.
Bang! Bang!
Supercharged balls of energy, composed of magic, were released; upon contact with physical structures, they instantly began tearing apart their foundational existence, squeezing, distorting, and reconstructing them on a particle level.
After a piercing hum, light warped suddenly and the thick sea gate was torn apart, creating two massive holes! The water pressure immediately shattered the rest of the gate structure, and seawater roared in.
"Go! Start the engines!" 102 shouted.
"It’s locked! It won’t move!" 101 yelled over the communications channel.
fumbled for the interface inside, inserting the hacking disk provided by Xu Yang, attempting to crack the code as he was taught. But without a hacker present, the efficiency was very low.
Bulky and cumbersome, A40 alone took up the entire internal cabin, making movements highly inconvenient.
Huang Feng’s face bore an ugly smile as if mocking their every effort, her expression flickered between light and dark.
saw that the black fire had consumed all the debris and was still crawling towards her.
She turned to look at the flood pouring in, and simply dived into the waterway, activating the thrusters on the Witch Armor, using herself as a power source to push the submarine out of the gate.
Rumbling—
The submarine was thrusted into the dark sea outside!
exerted herself to thrust from behind, the engine of the submarine silent.
She knew her sister probably wouldn’t have the chance to hack the ship, and at this moment, she could only swim hard, setting her armor’s engine to maximum power, operating it at overcapacity, pushing it to slowly move forward in the deep sea.
The black fire mixed with the seawater to form an oily, polluted current, quickly spewing out along the water channel like a huge mass of tentacle-like lifeform, ferociously lunging towards them.
"...There’s no way..." 102 thought to herself, "At this rate, the black fire will burn me."
Seeing she couldn’t escape the dark current’s pursuit, 102 pushed the submarine another 300 meters into the depths of the sea then abandoned it, quickly seeking a way out.
Once no longer pushing the cumbersome behemoth, 102’s body burst with incredible speed underwater, shooting out like a cannonball, with her completely enhanced body, a single push in the water could propel her hundreds of meters backwards.
The dark current enveloped the submarine stranded on the seabed, rapidly eroding and burning its hull.
The submarine remained uncracked, completely powerless, motionless.
And soon... it was damaged...
In the deep sea, several other submarines, already prepared, swiftly moved in, ready to hunt down and retrieve Huang Feng and A40.
"I see the target!"
"It is being devoured by the black flame!"
"Any sign of the Bee?" The submarine soldiers closed in on their ship, but found it eroded to near oblivion, completely empty, with its passengers all transferred away.
Their emotions rapidly turned to anxiety. If they lost the Bee, the Black Fire Innovation would suffer the worst loss since its inception.
"It’s 101 who took them away again!"
"Pursue!"
"We’ve scanned their real ship!" The entire fortress’s garrison had assembled, with 30 lurking submarines sprung into action, all drones launched to blockade the sea surface, and the Dark Flame Witches began pursuit in the direction of the signal.
On the other side, 101, having drained her magic power, transferred both A40 and the Bee onto the submarine they had arrived in.
"This ship has been dragging behind Clares the Second, we were the contingency plan," said 101, piloting her own "Auspicious Water" class submarine to escape at full speed.
A40 noticed that this ship was somewhat larger than the previous Blackfire submarine—at least it didn’t hit the hull when standing up. It was a product of the Xisheng shipyards, looking at the black seawater flying past the submarine windows, continually touching the Bee gently with its mechanical arm in a rhythmic fashion, as if to soothe her and rebuild an understandable world; the Bee sat in her seat in silence.
"Why is she so quiet all of a sudden? Has she returned to normal?" 101 drove the submarine at top speed, turning to see the Bee without a word.
The answer was self-evident as, after a few seconds of silence, the Bee suddenly began to scream hysterically, crying out to leave this place and go to the surface.
"I’ll take good care of her! I will!" cried A40, frightened that the Bee would be killed or thrown off the submarine.
"Without the Bee, we can deal with Black Fire Innovation better, we don’t care about the rest," 101 said coldly.
"I know! Ah! I know! I know! I know!" A40 said in anguish. It was the only one in the world concerned about the Bee! Why did the Bee have to be so unlucky?
To distract the pursuers, 102 swam in the sea, drawing the attention of some of the submarines, while the other 20 submarines continued the relentless chase.
felt the pressure mounting. With the vast ocean all around, there was nowhere to jump to—a landing spot was absent. Previously, it was only by opening the data packet that A40 gave 101 the location to lock onto and jump into the fortress.
In the end, the Island of Darkness was truly a gamble of life and death.
"Torpedoes!" 101 saw the red alert on the radar.
Bang!
A torpedo exploded next to the submarine, its shockwaves quickly tipping the vessel at a sharp angle. 101 was thrown from her seat against the interior wall, but immediately sat back down, clenched her teeth, and drove the submarine to regain power.
As the 20 pursuing submarines surrounded them in a tactical formation like a pack of wolves, the depths of the sea suddenly stirred violently.
"Roar—" A weak but majestic roar resounded, Clares the Second!
The great red Ocean Descendant was severely wounded and on the run, its last bit of energy disrupting the currents with a roar.
An opportunity!
pushed the submarine’s power to the limit, its speed surging again, even as the engine reached its breaking point.
Escape the vortex!
"Damn—"
"Watch out for the vortex!"
"It’s appeared again!" The chasing submarines rapidly exchanged information in the deep sea, briefly navigating around the sea path, avoiding the last vortex created by Clares the Second, and still pursuing them from a different direction, doggedly!
looked at the maritime chart, furrowing her brow.
"They are too close. We can only surface in the nearest shallow water and then escape to shore," 101 gritted her teeth. In this situation, they couldn’t make it to a safe area and had to take the risk of going ashore.
"The shore? The Taiya Archipelago?" A40 asked.
"The nearest coast is within the reach of Jialong Slope! You can lay low there for a while." With that, 101 turned the submarine toward Jialong Slope, the giant free trade port that is the largest commercial city of the Southern Region and where the territories of the large corporate powers intersect, epitomizing utmost chaos.
"Yes!" A40 was now carefully following orders but felt compelled to ask, "What about you and your sister?"
"I’m going to find her!" 101 knew 102 was currently swimming in the deep sea, taking some of the pressure of the pursuers off them. "Then we’ll head back to a safe area and figure out a way to return to the Northern Archipelago."
The raid on Dark Isle had left 101 filled with anxiety. The defensive power of Black Fire Innovation was so strong that now, not only were she and her sister separated, but Clares the Second was also on the brink of death. The last thing they could do was to send A40 and the Bee to the neutral city of Jialong Slope for a temporary stay, hoping they could survive there until Nestor Corporation could send support.
"I understand..." A40 nodded.
As the ship’s engine reached its limits, 101 set it to automatic cruise and then took out some supplies from a cabinet below, stuffing them into the storage boxes of A40’s Gunlance body. "Stay hidden in Jialong Slope, don’t let our efforts be in vain," 101 emphasized.
Turning to observe the Bee, she noticed the Bee’s chest was still impaled with a dark gold Restrictor. 101 couldn’t be more familiar with it; it was bound to biological features, and only a designated person was qualified to remove it—Rolo, the Bee’s guardian.
That meant, aside from Blackfire, there was no other way to remove the Restrictor. With it in place, the Bee could not access a drop of magic power.
"A40..." 101 sighed, "do you understand? She won’t be able to use any magic power anymore. The Bee will ultimately be a normal woman, unable to ’Command Reality.’"
"There’s such a good thing?" A40 said.
