Chapter 686: Chapter 574: Island Party
After a long journey, effort, conflict, and struggle, Xu Yang finally arrived at his dream destination: a sun-drenched tropical island.
Having sorted out the affairs on Charo Island, everything paused here, as Xu Yang set down both his luggage and burdens.
The island’s name was Kasongti, quite small with an area of only 20 square kilometers. It and the nearby dozen or so uninhabited islets were designated as the assets of Nestor Corporation under a peace agreement.
On both sides of Kasongti were rugged hills covered in dark green vegetation so dense that the mountains’ true faces were obscured.
In the center of the island, the sand was a pale color like pearls, and the waters near the shore were as beautiful as sky-blue jewels, while the deep sea farther out was a profound azure, with gentle waves stirred by the breeze.
Looking out to the horizon, the sea met the equally transparent blue sky, presenting a view of such vastness that it couldn’t help but open one’s spirit, unlike the city’s narrow confines.
If one wished to heal a suppressed mood or improve their physique, such a warmly temperate island was undoubtedly the most ideal place to recuperate.
The sun warmed his shoulders, and the air was slightly hot.
Several exquisite lodges built from glass and steel were air-dropped, standing firm on the newly constructed pier, instantly turning the uninhabited island into a vacation resort. Inside the lodges were complete household appliances, supplies, and smart facilities, lacking nothing related to daily life.
In just one day, Xu Yang had traversed the entire island, feeling like the sole king of this lonely land.
He circled the two hills at either end of the island; on the sunny side, several gigantic sea turtles basked motionlessly, while the shaded areas were overgrown with purple vines. The bases of the hills were piled with massive rocks standing like the foundations of a castle, seemingly washed up over hundreds of years by the waves.
Whenever the tide rose, the sea would flood over these giant rocks, leaving only the largest few poking out of the water. Unsightly barnacles clung to the sides and bottoms of the rocks, which Xu Yang pried off and shattered with an iron rod.
Every morning and afternoon, he would stroll alone along the frost-white beach, feeling the searing touch of the sea as it bathed his feet.
Xu Yang walked toward the water, which grew deeper until it reached his knees, with big waves surging from time to time to his chest. He always felt that with one misstep, he would fall from the sandy shore into an abyss, disappearing into the depths of the sea.
Inside the neighboring lodge, Rosa and the other 20 or so women leaned against the railing. These top-tier beauties, dressed in eye-catching swimwear, were resplendently colorful, beyond description, at just a glance.
This row of women was not only extremely young and vibrant but also masterful in over a hundred ways to please the opposite sex. They were all meticulously selected from the Jinyue Hotel Group and trained to the strict standards of the industry: height, appearance, and figure were impeccable, their skin was cared for until soft and pale, every movement was full of charm, and they were even cultivated with a good education. They could hold their own in conversations about mathematics, philosophy, and history with the clients.
They all hailed from Taiya Archipelago, where the prevailing view was that the best outcome for men was to enlist in Black Fire Innovation or join the military industrial complex, while for women, it was to beautify themselves to be pledged to wealthy merchants, power-wielders, or work in the service industry. Women’s status in Taiya Archipelago was extremely low, with no sense of security. Rather than vanishing in a large-scale robbery, feud or kidnapping, it was better to proactively sell their youth.
They, along with Rosa, were sent to Kasongti Island by Aledy, specifically to serve in the household.
They had thought they were headed to dirty, cold factories and the company of hundreds of wolf-like Nestor soldiers, but to their surprise, they were met by an ordinary person, someone who was very friendly on all accounts.
Rosa was undoubtedly the most astonished.
Compared to the boastful and aggressive Aledy, this man—known as Mr. Web Monitor—was surprisingly friendly. Not only was he easy-going, but also cordial to everyone. From any perspective, he was a likable guy, except that sometimes he liked to digress and daydream, he hardly had any faults.
These talented Taiya women and Xu Yang spent carefree days on the island, where the boundaries between day and night no longer seemed clear.
Xu Yang led them in expanding the resort’s buildings, constructing floating bridges, fishing docks, and fish ponds. He also revved up the chainsaw, chopping down two trees from the surrounding hills.
Together, they hollowed out the tree trunks, crafting two canoes just as they had seen the village elders do in their childhood. Then they sat in the canoes and paddled around the island. When they realized the canoes were actually floating on the sea, they couldn’t help but shout for joy—everything was like a dream.
The happy times on Kasongti Island were important memories in their lives.
Rosa had her own account on the social media "Myriad Dreams Entertainment," where she frequently took selfies and posted videos online.
She started a series called "20 Women and 1 Man," which included over 20 episodes featuring activities like grilling fish, chopping wood, building constructions, fish farming, beach strolls, and making fruit salads.
No matter how she filmed, Mr. Web Monitor’s face was always blurred, as if shrouded by some kind of technological treatment.
Rosa’s diary series quickly surpassed 500,000 likes and favorites, with a total viewership of over 6 million. Her fan count even doubled, which was a substantial gain for her.
Flipping through the comments, she was invariably amused by the rich imagination of the netizens.
Their most frequent question was... just who was that enviable man?
A man enjoying life on this dreamlike island in the middle of the ocean, accompanied by so many beautiful women.
Rosa wanted to know who he was too, but it was a question that would remain unanswered.
Everything was incredibly wonderful, and she chose to keep the secret. Xu Yang took this opportunity to craft his persona, weaving his own story through his experiences on Kasongti Island.
Sometimes, Rosa imitated his behavior, walking alone on the beach, pondering things, and looking out at the distant ocean, as if waiting for something important.
Xu Yang sat on the remains of a tree stump, creating fire by friction, with a terminal in front of him. Little Fool kept waving in the video, as if wanting to reach through the screen and come straight to her dad miles away.
"Guabu," Little Fool urged.
After about 20 attempts, Xu Yang found fire!
He held the smoking stick up to the camera, where a spark was shimmering at the tip.
Little Fool had only ever seen such a scenario in children’s books, but now she finally saw the truth in reality and immediately became happy.
"Who is she?" Rosa leaned in to see Little Fool in the camera.
"Guabu?" Little Fool was also curious about who this incredibly beautiful aunt might be.
"You will get to know her soon," Xu Yang counted the days, feeling that the time was coming.
He said goodbye to Little Fool and turned off the video.
"Have you heard about the Dark Isle of Blackfire Innovation?" Xu Yang inquired.
"Ysiguu," Rosa instinctively uttered its Secret Script name, "Blackfire Innovation is cultivating Blackfire there, feeding living people to it. Everyone in Taiya knows that Blackfire Innovation values that island greatly."
"What is on the island?"
"No one has ever been there, there are few survivors—Blackfire Innovation uses a mass of mechanical soldiers to guard it, ruthlessly killing anyone who approaches the island," Rosa thought of many terrifying rumors.
"Do they send people there periodically?" Xu Yang pressed.
Rosa repeatedly searched through her past experiences for snippets of conversation, those officers, and soldiers, those IDs and documents.
"Yes, for sacrifices," Rosa only knew this much.
Xu Yang pondered.
He put Rosa and over twenty other women on a ship and sent them back to the Northern Archipelago.
Soon, only Xu Yang was left on the sunny Kasongti Island.
Xu Yang waited another day for Clares the Second to come.
Clares the Second swam through the waves, and as it crawled onto the sandy shore, the giant Ocean Descendant with crimson skin appeared, as fearsome as a world-ending beast.
From its head, A40 removed the waterproof cloak and jumped down.
"Boss!" A40 said.
"You’ve been gathering information about the Island of Darkness, have you found any leads?" Xu Yang asked.
"Nothing," A40 said, "I only know that they’re still reinforcing the island, sending more combat robots there."
"...Then we’ll have to resort to a more direct method," Xu Yang contemplated.
He looked towards the great Ocean Descendant.
Clares the Second had been personally selected by Farosa, empowered by Mouse Witch Sally with the growth Divine Power, and was now terrifyingly strong.
As long as it didn’t encounter an enemy like the Storm Princess, it could provide very effective combat support at sea.
"Clares the Second, attack the Island of Darkness with all your might, no avoiding battle," Xu Yang reminded. Previously scared off by the Storm Princess, it needed encouragement to fight with all its strength.
Clares the Second roared, and the surrounding waters immediately surged, as the descendants of the gods, the Ocean Descendants, could summon the power of the ocean when they exerted their full strength.
Xu Yang slowly nodded.
This top-secret mission was known to very few, ensuring that Blackfire Innovation would not be on guard in advance.
"Once we lose Huang Feng, Blackfire Innovation’s power will be reduced by two or three tenths, which is vital for us to defeat Blackfire Innovation in the future," Xu Yang told A40.
"I must rescue Huang Feng," A40 declared.
"At any cost?"
"Yes."
Xu Yang slowly nodded.
"This is no joke. The Island of Darkness is filled with mechanical soldiers and with Blackfire itself. Suppose... you can rescue Huang Feng, but the cost is your destruction? The cost is you being turned to dust? Being torn apart? Being unrecognizable? Would you still be willing to break into the encirclement to rescue Huang Feng?" Xu Yang further questioned.
A40 knelt on the ground, respectfully bowing to Xu Yang.
"My life to this day has been for a reunion with Huang Feng. Honestly, I don’t know if there would be any meaning to my existence without her. To rescue Huang Feng, to make her safe and carefree, I am willing to be turned to dust, I am willing to be torn apart, I am willing to be unrecognizable," it said.
"According to the intelligence we’ve previously gathered, there are only 5 days left before Huang Feng is burned for Blackfire. Prepare yourself for the sacrifice," Xu Yang turned around. "Although it’s regrettable, Huang Feng’s happiness must be predicated on your demise."
A40 bowed to Xu Yang again, then got up, prepared to face destruction.
