Chapter 659 - 552: The Final Battle Storm

Chapter 659: Chapter 552: The Final Battle Storm

Rinne used the remaining gateway resources and internet devices at hand to create a simple real-time base map, facilitating the squad’s pathfinding for their retreat.

Following this raid, not only had they stolen a large amount of top-secret intelligence, but also captured a live one, reaping great rewards. Now, it was all about making a full retreat unscathed.

Four Invisible Imperial Guards had already landed; if they swarmed, the squad might kill one Imperial Guard, but two working together could wipe out the entire Disciple Squad right there.

These monstrous soldiers possessed extraordinary physical strength, endurance, and destructive power, far beyond what was normally conceivable.

"We treated Hosoda Yoshiyuki in the woods to the south yesterday; let’s head there," Seeking Shadow planned the route. "We can’t venture into open areas. First, we’ll move along the corridor to the dormitory area, then exit through the Southern Hub Gate. The Sajou Siblings will cover our retreat. Move fast, no engaging the enemy, if we get caught inside the base, everything we’ve gained will be lost."

Seeking Shadow’s arrangements were orderly, and the others accepted the commands with caution.

Rinne continued to load her pistol with bullets imprinted with the Magic Power of the Law of Slaughter.

At that moment, she felt as though she had become a summoner or retainer of some great and noble entity, killing in its name upon the earth and glorifying its reputation.

War, this sensation, was very different for Rinne.

In the Asahara Sea Territory and Sato City, tens of thousands were caught in a struggle between life and death, with the outcome impacting the fate of half the world. No mercenary activity could compare.

At the very least, she’d have stories to tell for the next ten years... She had taken part in the battle of the Asahara Sea. Rinne thought to herself with satisfaction at her own thoughts.

As long as she could escape alive!

No time to lose, the squad rose in force and headed southward, aiming to break out.

The soldiers that came to investigate along the way were eliminated by them through covert means, ensuring these searchers did not slow their retreat.

The battlefield was in chaos, and by the time the Black Fire Assault Squad realized that the information control room was the key point, the Disciple Squad had already maneuvered to the southern dormitory area of the barracks.

"Originally, they had stationed a large force here, but they’ve all been pulled to join the battle in Xia," noted Seeking Shadow upon seeing the stacked barracks along the way.

The barracks covered over a thousand square meters, made up of temporary makeshift bunks, two-thirds of which had been abandoned, their entrances locked with heavy iron chains.

They broke the locks and entered to find outdated restrooms, cramped bedrooms, and rudimentary conditions—almost like those prepared for college students, with no sign of a digital footprint.

In the dormitory area, they occasionally found personal items left by the soldiers—pinned-up drawings and water cups, much like what any ordinary person would have. The soldiers were treated like trash, left to live in these conditions.

Rinne looked around and thought of traditional propaganda about the Taiya Archipelago—hot and humid, with indigenous people and warlords running rampant.

Black Fire Innovation armed a bunch of poor people and pushed them to kill another bunch of poor people, creating chaos and slaughter.

Since Black Fire Innovation manufactured weapons, then war was undoubtedly their export, Rinne thought silently. The people of the Taiya Archipelago had become soldiers and butchers; that land could no longer raise normal people, with no need for scholars or artists.

She was lucky not to have been born in the Taiya Archipelago, Rinne sighed to herself. There, all the settlements, cities, and factories were ready for nothing but fighting and war; the world probably had no place bloodier than the Taiya Archipelago.

They left the dormitory area and continued southward. A team of Black Fire Soldiers coming to recapture the military base noticed their trail and immediately charged over, climbing the watchtowers and lookout posts to set up a temporary defensive position to intercept the Disciple Squad before they reached the main gate.

"I’ll lead the way!" Masasuke Hazuki charged forward, killing an oncoming Black Fire Soldier with a confiscated military saber. The soldier’s face was painted with tribal patterns similar to those on the Wolf Girl, likely both natives of the island.

A999 picked up the fallen soldier’s gun and bayonet, immediately opening fire to cover Hazuski.

Rinne aimed at the dense crowd of Black Fire Soldiers ahead and fired a shot. The Law of Slaughter engraved bullet exploded among them, causing a swift death storm. One could almost see the ashen color of the murderous Magic Power release—expanding like a sphere—turning anyone in contact with the edge of the Magic Power to dust, thus resolving their gravest crisis.

Seeking Shadow carried the Wolf Girl to the outside, aiming to place the captive at a distance so the noisy battlefield wouldn’t alarm her.

"We’re almost breaking out!" Lu Jing shouted while becoming alert, turning to look to the side.

An Invisible Imperial Guard was striding towards them, aiming his heavy rifle in their direction.

"Finally caught you... everybody, come here! The real enemy is just these few!" ordered the Invisible Imperial Guard in a hoarse voice.

He pulled the trigger.

Bang!

The grenade exploded on the ground. Lu Jing immediately rolled backward to avoid its force.

"Together, attack!" Lu Jing glanced at Rinne, then raised his submachine gun and fired at the Invisible Imperial Guard.

Rinne’s heart skipped a beat.

Finally, she was no longer seen just as a support staff member.

Then she would fight alongside Lu Jing!

The Invisible Imperial Guard bore the gunfire with his thick armor, then raised his hand to launch a burst of fire at them.

Lu Jing couldn’t dodge in time and was hit by two shots, screaming as he fell to the ground.

Rinne activated her Magic Power, leaped onto the wall, kicked off and propelled herself into the air. As the Invisible Imperial Guard raised his gun upward, she jumped again, soaring over his head. At the same time, she shot out a monomolecular wire!

Rip!

The sharp wire wrapped around the guard’s helmet, quickly tearing it off. However, it didn’t manage to kill him!

At the seam between the helmet and armor, a burst of Blackfire erupted. Since Rinne had cut off the helmet, it completely abandoned the guard’s armor, transforming into a burning black fire figure.

Rinne shuddered all over as a human-shaped flame burst from the armor. It was one of the most dreadful things she had ever seen in her life.

"Is this still human?" A999 turned to see the Blackfire monster and immediately categorized it as a new threat.

Rinne saw the Blackfire charging at her and subconsciously used the monomolecular wire to attack, but as soon as the metallic thread touched the black flames, it was instantly burnt to ashes. The Blackfire voraciously exploded and even began to burn up along the thread toward Rinne’s arms!

She immediately retracted the monomolecular wire, and as the flames roasted inside her implants, she felt a burning pain in her arms. The fire, following the thread, returned to her hands! It immediately robbed Rinne of her ability to fight, leaving her no choice but to wait for the black inferno to die out on its own.

She gritted her teeth and glanced at Lu Jing, who had been shot and was lying on the ground. Instead of retreating, she attempted to continue fighting with the Blackfire apparition.

It was just as sinister as a shadow, savage as a beast—an entity of power they had never seen before. No wonder the Imperial Guard were given the name "Invisible"; this amorphous black flame was their true form!

The Blackfire apparition did not speak but merely accelerated its burning charge towards them, spreading the flames across the ground’s grass, thereby enlarging its area of spread until it resembled a giant made of fire!

If not stopped, the Blackfire apparition could potentially burn everything at the scene to ashes.

Without the need for communication, they each knew what to do. Rinne dashed to the side, painfully using her scorching hands to lift Lu Jing and retreat from the battle, while A999 dealt with the other incoming regular soldiers.

Masasuke Hazuki was in charge of intercepting the Blackfire apparition.

He was expressionless. Seeing that physical attacks were ineffective against the Blackfire apparition, he sheathed his military sword behind him, uttered an incantation, and instantly turned into a cloud of gas.

The Blackfire apparition, not recognizing the spell at first, attacked the gaseous form of Masasuke Hazuki fiercely, trying to grab him, but only managed to disperse him.

The rising hot air actually pushed Masasuke Hazuki higher, allowing him to avoid injury.

Rinne carried away the injured Lu Jing, Seeking Shadow and A999 left the military camp, and finally, it was the gaseous form of Masasuke Hazuki’s turn to escape.

As they fled the military camp and approached the Sajou siblings in the woods for backup, they realized the Blackfire apparition was persistently chasing after them, gliding through the air!

It was like a vengeful fireball, refusing to let them escape.

Sajou Jiro stepped forward and quickly began casting a spell.

He paid his respects and loyalty to Mond, the King of the Moon, reciting incantations and summoning the Moonlight Ritual. Upon completion of his chanting, a bright moonlight symbol appeared in the sky and pale Moonfire surged from the center of the symbol, continuously burning the Blackfire.

The Moonfire, borrowed from Mond, violently entwined with the True Blackfire of the Invisible Imperial Guard!

The two vortexes of flames furiously intertwined and rapidly tumbled, consuming each other.

Sajou Jiro raised his voice again, chanting incantations after incantations, striving to amplify the power of the Moonfire.

After a while, all that could be seen was the retreating Blackfire hurrying back towards the direction of the military camp. Although it wasn’t completely destroyed by the Moonfire, it suffered losses in the confrontation and was forced to retreat.

"We did it—" Chiyuki Sajou saw her brother successfully execute the offensive spell he had been practicing and couldn’t help but feel elated. However, upon seeing the faint dragon scales behind Jiro’s ear, a tinge of anxiety washed over her.

Using spells borrowed from the Mystics too often could turn oneself into one of their kin.

"We won!" Sajou Jiro couldn’t help but yell out. It was the first time he had put the Moonlight Ritual he learned into real combat, "There are no longer monsters in the modern world, so the Exorcists must destroy the evildoers of the Black Fire Innovation!"

"We have to go!" Chiyuki Sajou’s face darkened upon seeing the gunshot wound on Lu Jing, "Quick, we must join Hosoda Yoshiyuki, we can’t delay any longer."

After the Blackfire flew back, it returned to its armor, filling the armor suit, then put the helmet back on.

"Hisss..." The Invisible Imperial Guard was severely injured, moving slowly, while the other three Imperial Guards had already arrived.

"You were repelled?" His comrade was shocked.

"Moonfire spells... the Mystics’ secret rituals... records from lost spellbooks. Nestor Corporation... it seems to have everything," the Invisible Imperial Guard murmured.

"With us here... the attackers won’t dare to come back to the military base. So, the outcome of the entire battle depends on the sequence of the warships and the Battle Witch..." Another Imperial Guard looked into the distance.

...

The battle at the Asahara Sea escalated to a fever pitch.

The nearly destroyed Yokozuna was still charging forward; half of the crew had been burnt to death and the entire warship was decrepit beyond recognition. Only the dark red layer of Yan Duo metal cladding over the ship’s framework provided the last defense, outlining its rough shape.

In the sky, the duel between the Storm Princess and Pan Ruiyi had been decided, even though their battle had only lasted for 10 seconds.

"Get lost!" The Storm Princess violently waved her hand, sending a fierce gust towards Pan Ruiyi.

Pan Ruiyi couldn’t fly on her own; she relied on the Iron Wings on her back for propulsion. Now facing the ultimate Aeromancer Witch specialized in aerial combat, Pan Ruiyi was suffering! She was blown away by the wind!

The wind roared!

Pan Ruiyi was swept away by the tempest; she only felt the surrounding scenery rapidly changing. After finally regaining her balance within the Black Storm, she could no longer see the Storm Princess’s figure.

"Hmph..." The Storm Princess coldly watched Pan Ruiyi disappear into the distance.

The Storm Princess moved swiftly through the air, ready to make her move on the warships, destroying aircraft as she went.

Hiding amidst the clouds, 101 furrowed her brow as she tried to aim at the coordinates, but it was extremely difficult to keep up with the Storm Princess’s swift movements.

However, there was a slim chance.

After making a careful prediction, 101 spent her magic power to teleport behind the Storm Princess, and with all her might, she brought down Shilou Maru towards her!

As soon as the blade touched the Storm Princess’s body, it was blown away by the fierce wind, and 101’s body was flung backwards.

The Storm Princess turned around with a mocking smirk. Apart from the few straps tightly wound around her, all her clothes and swords were blown away by the wind.

In this ultimate battlefield of tempest and downpour, the Storm Princess stood invincible.
