Chapter 636: Chapter 537: Mysterious Technology
This is my own armor. The thought made Rinne’s heart surge with quiet joy.
She walked up to it and reached out to touch the metal of the armor.
The armor was cool and firm, deflecting light with the expensive military phantom paint that made it easy to overlook its presence. It was only visible from certain angles, showing mere fragments of its silhouette. No matter the direction one looked from, only parts were seen, and its appearance kept changing with the viewer’s perspective.
Rinne’s emotions soared as she beheld such a lavish and exquisitely crafted piece of equipment.
Eagerly, she set aside her old gear and took the armor off the wall.
As she began to don the armor, it automatically adhered to her body, meticulously adjusting to fit her form without leaving any vulnerable spots, all while allowing her unrestricted movement.
Rinne rotated her legs so as to avoid wear in specific areas, then fell silent, focusing on the sensation of her new armor. It was as thin as a cicada’s wing, classified as Witch Armor, but it felt more like a form-fitting battle suit. As she moved, she felt doubly agile and dexterous as if merging with the armor.
It was marvelous.
Entranced, Rinne nearly didn’t want to take off the armor ever again. She turned her wrist over and, to her delight, found monomolecular wire launchers integrated into it. When she raised her hand, green monomolecular wires shot out swiftly without obstruction, flipping up and down.
Instinctively, she reached to familiar spots on her body and, indeed! The armor had specially included four external sheaths for her to store her four short katanas.
Incredible, without a single flaw to be seen.
"It’s like... it’s like my new skin," Rinne said as she twisted her body and then put on the deep purple helmet.
The helmet seamlessly fit with the cuirass, beautiful in form and flawless in appearance, blending modern Ninja with futuristic Samurai styles. The faceplate on the front could cycle through three modes: transparent, locked, and fully open.
"You might say this armor was specifically designed for you, tailor-made to your measurements," Miyazato Kazama said, seeing Rinne’s satisfied expression, feeling an exceptional sense of accomplishment herself.
"Does it have a name?" Rinne asked as she clenched her fists, feeling the advanced full-cover leather gloves.
"No name, it was specially prepared for you," Miyazato Kazama reveled in the atmosphere, her technology shining on the Witches, "and there’s no possibility of mass production—every part of this armor is custom-built and meticulously tailored, impossible to replicate. There isn’t a second piece like it in the world. And what you’re experiencing now is just its basic physical capabilities."
"There’s more?" Rinne was curious.
"Miss Rinne’s magic is anti-gravity walking," Miyazato Kazama anticipated Rinne’s reaction to the new feature, "On this point, we’ve adapted too. Now, try jumping up... then activate your magic, and forcefully step in the air."
Rinne turned her gaze toward the spacious, open testing area of the laboratory, leaped forward forcefully, then employed her magic in mid-air. The armor’s boots adapted for lift, activating a recoil function—when she stepped in the air, the boots provided leverage for her to jump again, moving as if stepping on an invisible staircase!
Her agility and mobility substantially enhanced as she seemed to ascend stairs in the air, Rinne didn’t land but instead sped up, reaching the lower part of the ceiling in a few steps. Then taking advantage, she made a high-difficulty twisting motion while hopping and landed on the ceiling head-down. Following that, she plummeted straight down, skillfully using the unlocked jumping ability to reduce her landing height, eventually rolling nimbly on the ground to nullify the impact.
"What incredible armor!" Rinne had never imagined it could be used in such harmony.
The entire sequence was fluid like a stream, not the slightest hint of awkwardness.
Miyazato Kazama was dizzy with admiration. She was stunned, having not expected Rinne to master the techniques in such a short time, nor that she’d spontaneously discover the extra uses the Witch Armor provided—her movements far exceeded Miyazato Kazama’s initial designs, learned independently by Rinne in a matter of seconds.
Perhaps she’s a genius in every aspect... Miyazato Kazama pondered internally while subtly turning to glance at Xu Yang.
Rinne’s intelligence, exceptional talent, and extraordinary courage—no wonder she was chosen by Xu Yang as an assistant; it was a fitting match.
Miyazato Kazama tentatively concluded that Xu Yang’s nurturing of Rinne was not focused on her beauty.
"This is armor with infinite growth potential," Miyazato Kazama reminded Rinne, "As you engage in combat, delve into slaughter, the armor will continuously absorb experience and grow. It won’t just assist you in completing certain complex maneuvers or automatically inject combat stimulants under specific conditions—it will also advise you on what kind of accessories to acquire, what skills to train, supporting you in battle over an extended period."
Rinne nodded, her processor connecting to the armor’s control panel. She glanced at the manual inside, then understood the functionalities Kazama had mentioned.
She connected her neural interface with the armor, configuring remote control and inputting codes. The entire armor entered a compact state, leaving only the more concealed bracers, leg guards, and upper body light armor which could be covered by a coat.
Taking a deep breath, Rinne calmed her heart rate after the vigorous activity, savoring the nourishment her magic circuit gleaned during practice, then expressed her gratitude to Miyazato Kazama: "This truly is the most suitable equipment for me. Thank you!"
"There’s more," Miyazato Kazama walked deeper into the weapon technology area, which resembled a white labyrinth, filled with weapon workshops and small manufacturing studios, allowing her to experiment with her terrifying conjectures.
"There’s even more?" Rinne was both surprised and delighted at the news, feeling completely satisfied with the Witch Armor she wore, yet hearing there were additional creations made her turn to Xu Yang, "What other good things does the Nestor Research Department have?"
"Have you ever heard of The Lost Magic Sword? The ultimate murderer A40, Berserker Under the Moon." Xu Yang followed Miyazato Kazama’s pace, "Once, a Witch engraved her Magic Power Imprint onto A40’s sword, and now, with our understanding of mystical studies, we have replicated the technique. However, what we engrave is not disappearance but the Law of Slaughter."
"The Law of Slaughter!" Rinne was eager to try, it sounded incredibly powerful.
With the Nestor Research Department’s technical support, Rinne’s confidence grew stronger. Not only could she get various healing injections, firearms, and auxiliary tools, but she also had all sorts of novel inventions to rely on, which was like playing with a full deck.
Miyazato Kazama led them to the other side of her private laboratory, where magical materials were piled high, all stored in azure pottery.
Rinne spotted the secret labels of Heavenly Cardinal Manufacturing on those azure pots and couldn’t help being secretly amazed. These materials were never sold publicly; she wondered how the Nestor Corporation managed to acquire them.
She looked around and saw the place was filled with ancient book replicas, printed materials, magical materials, smelting cauldrons, and Lunar Fire Calciner, among other mystical side-processing tools, transcending the boundaries of technology and delving into the supernatural realm.
Miyazato Kazama picked up a bullet from the table and carefully presented it to Rinne.
Rinne held her breath, carefully capturing its details with her modified eyes. It was a standard 7mm bullet intricately engraved with ancient text she couldn’t recognize, seemingly capable of storing specific magic power. The engravings were as red as blood, as if cursed.
"This is one of the most dangerous weapons developed by Nestor Corporation up to now," Miyazato Kazama warned, "I’ll transmit real combat footage to you, take a close look."
Rinne focused on the footage.
In the video, a Nestor Legion soldier was advancing with a rifle.
Suddenly, a gang boss burst out of the room in front. Clad in makeshift Powered Armor purchased on the black market, he was formidable like a tower, covering his companions behind him, brandishing a Bomb Cannon, ready to push forward.
The Legion soldier merely raised his hand and fired one shot, and the boss’s charging momentum halted instantly, followed by him crashing heavily to the ground! Following the boss’s back, the gang members assaulting behind him were also covered by an invisible magic wind in an instant, their bodies rapidly cut thousands of times and exploded into chunks and fragments littering the corridor.
"You understand now," Miyazato Kazama said solemnly.
"This is the Law of Slaughter..." Rinne murmured.
She began to grasp the terrifying effect of these bullets.
Carrying potent slaughter magic power, even if they hit armor, the Law of Death would release, instantly reaping lives within a small area.
With this, the bullet’s armor-piercing efficiency became irrelevant, as any living being inside the armor was doomed.
If loaded into machine guns and cannons for bombing and destroying fortifications and buildings... Just thinking of that scene sent shivers down Rinne’s spine. It could probably wipe out all life in an entire area in an instant, without creating pollution like nuclear weapons would.
Turning people into chunks of flesh...
"This technique is called ’Engraved Bullet,’ with the internal code ’Wind of Slaughter.’ Eight days ago, when the Nestor Legion cleared out stamp dealers holed up in the suburban abandoned factory, I gave three of these bullets to a volunteer tester." Miyazato Kazama nodded, "You saw it, the effect is extremely terrifying, so much so that the tester couldn’t forget the scene afterward and suggested that I should not use these magic bullets in large-scale warfare, as they can easily cause friendly fire. I think he’s too timid. I hope you’re braver than he is. I’ll give you a magazine, use the Law of Death to deal with those enemies hiding behind heavy armor."
Miyazato Kazama loaded 30 7mm Engraved Bullets into a magazine and handed it to Rinne.
"I will make good use of them," Rinne felt vigilant just carrying these bullets in her pocket.
"Of course, you should," Miyazato Kazama spoke in a mysterious tone, "...each bullet is equivalent to the blessing of the Witch Goddess. In fact, without her consent and support, we couldn’t possibly be so far ahead of other companies in developing such terrifying weapons."
The Witch Goddess... Rinne put away the magazine. With the Witch Goddess being so powerful, what on earth couldn’t she do?
Rinne gave Miyazato Kazama a slight nod and turned back to hug Xu Yang, kissing his neck.
"I’m setting off right away." She hugged Xu Yang, "The mission will be completed in no time."
"Be careful," Xu Yang advised, "Black Fire Innovation has undoubtedly deployed powerful Witches in that sea area."
"I may need to be more aggressive," Rinne’s fingers trailed up from Xu Yang’s chest to his chin, "I am your assistant, what does that mean? It means I will do the things you can’t do, see the things you can’t see. I am an extension of you. I will go further, until I am omnipotent."
