Cyber Era Witch
Chapter 597 - 508

Chapter 597: 508

The Dragonkin Blacksmith had finished reforging Rinne’s weapons, and upon their return, they saw four blades, each about 80 centimeters long, lying horizontally on a diamond-shaped display stand.

The blacksmith’s assistants were two deeply blue scaled Dragonkin skilled in enhancing damage. They gave the blades a final polish before sheathing them in new metal scabbards, ensuring they were sleek and symmetrical.

The Dragon Clan took great pride in their traditional craftsmanship, reluctant to lose face in front of outsiders, and thus they dedicated themselves to the task. Once everything was finished, the Dragonkin let out a chorus of pleased muttering, wrapped the weapons in golden-edged crimson silk, and handed them over to Rinne with solemnity.

Grasping the four heavy and sharp weapons, Rinne held her breath; even through the scabbards, she could feel their warmth.

She hung the four blades back onto her body, took one out slightly, and toyed with it in her hands.

What fine weapons! Similar in design to the ones before, these thick-backed, sharp katanas were especially suited for slashing and stabbing. The blades had been reforged, freshly sharpened, mixed with Mythical Metal, rendering them invincible. Armed with these, Rinne could easily cut through and destroy alloy armor.

"These are amazing," Rinne loved her new set of treasures.

"Thank you all for your hard work," Xu Yang expressed his gratitude to the Dragonkin blacksmiths.

They nodded solemnly. The Dragonkin had served here for lengthy centuries, eager to see new things. They muttered for a while and then reached out to Xu Yang, asking for something interesting in exchange for their work. Xu Yang patted his pockets, but apart from Wei Shiyue’s personal items, he had nothing.

Rinne still had some trinkets she had collected from the last comic convention on her, so she took a fist-sized black Dragonkin figurine off her keychain and handed it to them, which immediately sparked their interest. They played with it, swishing their enormous tails as they headed back to the furnace area, preparing to replicate the model.

"Dragons seem to be quite perverted," Rinne whispered to Xu Yang after they had walked a distance.

"It’s a long story. The master of this place is called ’Lunar Fire’ Mond," Xu Yang began as they walked back, "it has a penchant for angular companions and, over its long life, has collected many wives and concubines, conceiving children with them using spells. Hmm... all the Dragons you’ve seen here are Mond’s offspring, from the flying dragons, Dragonkin, to the Dragon Beasts."

"Terrifying," The whole scenario seemed maniacal to Rinne, making her wary of visiting Moonlight again.

When they reached the mine above, three colorful Drakes, known as brothers, rose from the top.

"That impudent woman, showing us disdain...!"

"She should learn some manners."

"Fresh meat!" The three Drakes perched on the mountain began to chatter at Rinne. One of them swiftly climbed down with its gaping maw ready to snatch Rinne away, but she quickly grabbed Xu Yang’s hand and ran back through the portal, returning to the Black Gate Base on the Ground.

Once back on the planet, Rinne lost her balance and tumbled toward the ground, forcing Xu Yang to catch her firmly.

"I’ve become so heavy," Rinne complained as Xu Yang held her shoulder with his left hand and supported her thigh with his right, walking step by step outward.

"You must be packed with a lot of implants," Xu Yang thought Rinne was quite heavy, but didn’t want to say it.

As the morning light filtered in, Rinne, who had played all night, now felt tired. She closed her eyes to sleep as Xu Yang put her back on the Anonymous and boarded the Shuttle Machine, taking Rinne back to Shijin Mansion.

Rinne slept for at least a day and a night.

When she woke up again, she felt energetic and clear-headed. Xu Yang was not there; he had left a message saying he was off to meet with Du Qianqian and Wei Shiyue, and he also left a discount code for a cheaper visit to Old Cui Prosthesis Treatment Center.

She rummaged through the house for some instant food, mixed a few boxes of tomatoes, beef, kelp, and shrimp, and cooked a super lavish deluxe Udon noodle dish.

Rinne slurped her noodles while turning on the smart screen hanging on the wall. Noticing new messages, she used gestures to remotely swipe the screen and saw an encrypted point-to-point email sent to the office.

There was no subject, seemingly like advertising. She clicked to open it.

"Dear boss,

I’ve been on the Taiya Archipelago for some time now; the recent events are as complicated as those on the Agave Continent.

Following your orders, I boarded a copper ore ship and arrived near the Taiya Archipelago, then docked at a large island called Charo Island. That was at the beginning of the year.

When I came here, the locals were resisting Black Fire Innovation’s conscription efforts. Many people fled by boats or even maimed themselves to escape the draft, thinking it absurd to die for a corporate war.

After docking, I worked at a fish shop where the family provided a place for me to charge. My fish slicing skills were unmatched, everyone said I was a master chef. When the recruiting officers came to draft young men, I had nothing better to do, so I took the place of the family’s son. At the local military office, during the registration and medical check-up, they asked if I was A40. I said yes, then they started making calls in a hurry. I felt something was off and told them to wait, but they were anxious. I sensed their strangeness, so I fought with them.

After killing everyone in the military office, I gathered some guns and missile launchers, took down an air transport unit, and many local troops came after me. For six days, I roamed across Charo Island. Enclosed are photos I took; it’s a picturesque place with beautiful oceans and forests everywhere. I could fight every day, which suits me well. Yet the locals kept asking me to leave, so I did.
