Chapter 572: Chapter 488: Three Principles

Rinne and Seeking Shadow packed their things, ready to leave.

They resupplied the Anonymous with fuel rods, batteries, fresh water, food, and weapon ammunition, fully prepared for everything.

Seeking Shadow suddenly detected an object rapidly approaching. She climbed onto the cabin cover to look into the distance and saw an expensive red sports-type shuttle machine speeding toward them. It landed after passing through security verification with an encryption key.

A stylish woman dressed in a brown canvas denim jacket and wearing dark sunglasses got off and headed straight for the office.

"Stranger," Seeking Shadow couldn’t tell.

"Anyone you can’t scan is to be identified as Du Qianqian," Rinne watched her leave.

"Why do you suspect her private life?" Seeking Shadow read the initial record.

"She bled, she was hurt, that lover must be very vile," Rinne said.

"I didn’t detect that detail."

"Your attention was all on weapons and implants." Rinne slid open the cabin door, secured her dagger, and then took out a 7mm handgun "Nail Shooter" from the weapon cabinet, "Sometimes you have to break the usual procedures."

Seeking Shadow observed Du Qianqian entering the room, where she sat down by the office desk and spoke with Xu Yang in a stern tone as Xu Yang tried to calm her emotions, which might have had an effect.

The woman would change her shape when agitated, alternating her appearance now shapely, now scrawny and withered, now a man, now a beautiful young boy, thereby confirming the identity of Du Qianqian.

Seeking Shadow forcefully pulled the cabin door shut.

"You’re not concerned?" Rinne observed.

"If it’s him, he should be able to calm Du Qianqian’s emotions properly," Seeking Shadow said.

"Everyone trusts Mr. Web Monitor that much," Rinne smiled slightly.

"He led us out of a desperate situation," Seeking Shadow said, "since then, he’s earned our support."

Their destination was Xijin Town on the western edge of the Archipelago, located at the southern foothills of Mingge Mountain, where the colonel would arrive on a small passenger ship along the complex coastline.

Rinne read the report; the ship was named "Crimson Life."

The ship’s captain was named Febus, a descendant of the colonel’s troops. He was well aware of his forebears’ past. After the colonel left, local entrepreneurs reached an agreement with the Lighthouse Core. They brought an advanced military from the north, New Taixi State, consisting of drones, space motherships, Battle Witches, and Killing Machines.

With support from the people of New Taixi State, the remnants of the colonels’ troops were wiped out. The corporate troops occupied every piece of land the colonel had conquered, the colonels’ flags were taken down, and corporate logos were hoisted. Publications, publishing, and media came under complete control. The public utilities established by the colonel, such as water treatment, electricity, hospitals, and education, were sold off to intercontinental capital and quickly turned into profitable industries accessible only to the wealthy. Agave Continent thus entered a dark age, providing food, minerals, labor, and cheap products to other enterprises to this day.

Upon hearing that the colonel had escaped, Captain Febus dug out the epaulettes that his grandfather had buried in the ground and continued the fight with the colonel, taking the small boat through the great rivers of Agave Continent, delivering the news to the jungle inhabitants.

After successfully calling for reinforcements from Nestor Corporation, Febus confirmed the route and decided to personally pilot the ship, crossing the Great Ocean, determined to escort the weakened colonel to the Northern Archipelago to meet with like-minded individuals.

After reviewing the landing plan and due to the impact of the storm, it would be at least 40 hours before Febus could dock. They still had time to rest, clear the landing site, and eliminate potential enemies.

Rinne leaned against the Anonymous, smoking.

"We can’t contact Lu Jing about this because she’s a company witch," Rinne felt a sense of strangeness, unable to interact with Lu Jing as before. "Do you have any reinforcements on your side?"

"I’ve called for reinforcements from the ’Disciples’, everyone reliable: Nidelaide, Popping Man Hoseda, and the healer Qianxue. Qianxue’s younger brother also wanted to come but couldn’t make it in time; the other three are on their way," Seeking Shadow responded.

"Let’s see who we have in this team," Rinne counted, "Axe-wielder Seeking Shadow, homebody technician, gunman, healer, Hacker Witch. We’re still missing a jack-of-all-trades who can come up with ideas, has courage, is well-rounded, can shoot and drive."

"Yes, we need to find one more," Seeking Shadow also felt the squad had weaknesses. "Recruit someone trustworthy to help."

The Nestor Corporation Witch Department was devoted to the frontlines, but as the Secret Front, they needed to be constantly careful, uniting comrades to accomplish the mission and guard Nestor Corporation’s flanks and rear.

Rinne piloted the Anonymous, the Northern Archipelago was narrow, swiftly maneuvered from the air, and soon they reached their destination.

She lowered the Anonymous, parking it in a dense forest.

"These woods are really strange," Rinne stepped out of the shuttle machine.

The surrounding large trees were lush, and the woodland thrived from this point all the way to Mingge Mountain.

"The forest needs to be protected and respected, so don’t litter, don’t play with fire, and if someone calls out to you, don’t look back," Seeking Shadow repeated from the guidebook.

Seeking Shadow looked around, the forest was deep, as if specters roamed. Nature on the Northern Archipelago was entering a long recovery period, and though it resorted to frightening methods, this was a necessary strategy, given how severely humans had previously damaged the environment.

"It’s like a ghost story," Rinne unconcerned.

It seemed like she was not afraid, but once she reached the edge of the forest, Rinne heard someone softly calling her name from behind; indeed, she dared not look back.
