Cyber Era Witch
Chapter 507 - 447 Aerial Assault

Chapter 507: Chapter 447 Aerial Assault

Tenjouin Kiriyari watched as one message after another flashed across the screen in front of him. The new Xisheng’s highest command was cloaked in gloom, a night filled with insomnia.

"This is as far as we go, we cannot overstep."

The cybersecurity force’s report summed up to just these few words. Likewise, others remained silent about what they encountered, as if they had seen a ghost.

New Xisheng’s cybersecurity department, Protecra network security, Golden Shield, Symantec, Star Ring Network, Digital Ark... even the most optimistic and loyal among them had to wait until they fully adapted to the Helis Sea System before they could launch an attack.

Nestor Corporation utilized the Helis Sea earlier than the giant corporations, a fact that was a source of embarrassment. If they had known, they would have significantly increased the annual budget for cybersecurity services. But how much money would end up in the hands of managers at all levels, and how much would be spent on engineers? Tenjouin Kiriyari couldn’t figure it out, and it wasn’t his place to.

The lights were forever bright, but the continuous sound of cannon fire came from the outskirts of Shangjing City, sometimes thunderous, sometimes as faint as the beat of a drum.

Tenjouin Kiriyari actually hoped that the sound of cannon fire would continue a bit longer, for once the barrage ended, it meant the positions had changed hands, and the battle was over. From the current reports, it seems that Nestor Corporation’s assault troops often gained the upper hand.

A senior staff officer with a square face reported to Tenjouin Kiriyari. This man, in his forties, knew the ins and outs of the corporate civil wars in the Northern Archipelago and was highly valued.

"Our Combat Witch Brigade," he said, "only half are fit for duty, with the rest confused and babbling incoherently."

"If control chips and thought reports were useful, they wouldn’t be acting so abnormally," Tenjouin Kiriyari replied while issuing circulars to the various units under the new Xisheng Group, declaring the takeover of their command to unify and coordinate them himself.

Kiriyari was tall, lean, and handsome, only twenty-six this year. In times of peace, he should have been a fine young master, but now with war’s inferno flaring up in an instant, he was willing to become a piece of forged steel, ready for tempering.

"Takahashi Kyoko has been called back," said the old staff officer, "She was a former member of the Mobile Riot Squad. Only President Zina could recall her. As part of the cooperation agreement, she had previously participated in the wars in the Eastern Hemisphere, sniping more than seven hundred from Black Fire Innovation, causing a loss of 390 million as a single soldier."

"Where is she now?"

"At Shangjing Bay."

"Have her stand by at the port," Tenjouin Kiriyari ordered.

The frenetic pace of command reminded Tenjouin Kiriyari of the mix of training he had received at the military academy. His schoolmates, all born with silver spoons in their mouths, the elite offspring hoped only to stay away from the Northern Archipelago and enjoy life in the Taixi Continent after graduation.

Time flies, fortunes change, and now they were all captains of their own ships, except that Kiriyari was piloting the Orochi, while they sailed yachts on the blue seas.

"Nestor Corporation must have cultivated witches with exceptional strength," said another staff officer.

"Spies say they’ve taken in many young witches in Anjiu City," the old staff officer reflected, "Could it be that they have all been accelerated to maturity?"

"It’s impossible for them to have risen to high-ranking witches so quickly," said another officer, calling up a list, "They are all neglected children; otherwise, they would have been monopolized by other companies long ago."

"Ancient Witch," Kiriyari put an end to their confusion, "it can only be that highly-contested Ancient Witch."

Upon hearing his words, the staff officers stopped speculating and immersed themselves back into their work; it was a realm beyond human reach. The highest level of witches cultivated by the company were at the Dominator Level, and this era could not withstand a Supreme Witch wreaking havoc upon the world. How many would be enough for her to kill?

If not for Minamoto Makoto, I would have brought my aunt back home earlier, keeping the Tenjouin Family out of the fray, waiting to sell at the highest price, Kiriyari brooded.

Now he found himself tied to the walls of new Xisheng, facing a terrifying war — the NCER Base had lost contact, severing their flame of counterattack.

As long as there is enough time, Tenjouin Kiriyari thought. Kurokawa Kana in Lundinium had noticed the crises back home and began contacting the outside world. Should the war drag on, the Corporate Alliance would consider sending the Skydrive Agreement to intervene, and the Seven Seals would attempt to reclaim the Ancient Witch. Perhaps the victory rate promised by the Hundred-eyes Demon lay in this.

Humans have their own roles to play. Kiriyari stood up and peered over the strategic map, concentrating on the planning. As long as they held Shangjing, there was hope.

"Launch an attack from Mount Daiyue Number," he commanded, "Bomb the White Island Bridge."

The White Island Bridge was a dual-use road and rail bridge that connected Shangjing City to Anjiu City. Should it face bombing, Anjiu City would be severely affected, interrupting citizens’ commutes, logistical transport, and military movements. Destroying the bridge would sever Nestor Corporation’s assault troops from headquarter communications and ultimately lead to their segmented annihilation.

Strike!

Even after the advent of the space mothership, traditional aircraft carriers were still retained, and one such nuclear-powered carrier, Mount Daiyue Number, lay at the military base in Shangjing Bay.

Eight modern fighter jets were catapulted into the air, leaping from the bow to form an aviation squadron en route to bomb the White Island Bridge.

The fighters broke into the clouds, soaring across the sky. Pilots, readying their high-precision aerial bombs, relied on these satellite-guided missiles, using new Xisheng Group’s navigation satellites as auxiliary guidance systems, boasting staggering destructive power.

"Attention to base, this is Military Attendant-1, the formation has entered the target airspace," the squadron leader radioed to the mothership, "Dropping bombs in five minutes."

"Base copies. The target airspace is electromagnetically silent, no anti-aircraft force on the ground. I wish you good luck in battle!"

The fighters continued to advance, trying to lower their altitude.

Shadows. The squadron leader glimpsed a clue hidden deep within the clouds.

"Military Attendant-6, do you see it?" the leader saw a massive creature gliding through the night clouds, seemingly scaled. He glanced at the radar, his heart pounding.

"Military Attendant-1, I can’t see anything," came the reply.

"This is Military Attendant-3, radar shows a huge unidentified object! Something’s coming!"

"Get away from there!"

With a piercing roar, the flight formation scattered quickly. One of the fighters had already been struck hard, emitting the ghastly sound of tearing metal as it plummeted toward the sea, quickly disappearing among the waves.

"Base! Military Attendant-3 has crashed!" the leader’s heart raced, "A large unknown hostile lifeform detected! Formation scatter! Prepare to engage the enemy!"

He pulled the fighter jet higher to gain a better view, slowed down to search for the target, and then he saw with despair the terrifying presence that was attacking the aerial squadron—a dragon!

A massive, strong white dragon emerged from the dark clouds! Just like a giant eagle preying on birds, it pounced on another fighter jet, swooping down from above, grabbing each wing with its claws, and then violently tearing apart, the entire fighter jet emitted a loud disintegrating noise, instantly breaking apart in midair; the dragon spread its claws, letting it fall towards the sea.

Immediately after, the dragon released powerful magic power, and a moon white magic formula appeared in the air like a seal, used by it to conceal itself, vanishing within the radar signals.

"Main formation! We have lost Military Attendants-3 and -8." The squadron leader turned the nose of the aircraft, "We are being attacked by a dragon!"

"Military Attendant-1, main formation orders your unit to complete the mission."

"Full speed ahead!" The leader steeled himself, diving down through the sky, with the remaining six fighter jets swooping over the bridge. Despite the depth of night, traffic was still ceaseless, and they quickly dropped bombs towards the White Island Bridge.

Boom!

Under the succession of bombardments by the six fighter jets, the entire bridge broke with a sound, a massive gap appearing in the center—it hadn’t completely collapsed but was utterly impassable! The vehicles screeched to a halt, trapped and panicking.

Such scale of destruction would require at least two weeks for repairs, and a lot can happen in two weeks; the squadron thus considered the mission accomplished.

They returned to base at high speed at low altitude, with the dragon nowhere to be seen along the way.

"Military Attendants squadron, you are the heroes of this battle."

"Thank you," the squad leader said, still shaken.

After returning to the aircraft carrier "Mount Daiyue," he had hardly settled down when the naval base at Shangjing Bay sounded the alarm.

The dragon! It had come again—and this time it was attacking personally!

The agile white dragon dove from the sky, seemingly infuriated by its failure to stop the squadron’s attack, it was exceptionally fierce!

It opened its gaping maw, diving toward the naval base with agility and firepower far surpassing any combat machinery, moonlight flames howling out of its mouth, launching a massive fiery assault on the military fleet hidden within the port!

"Shangjing Bay is under air raid!"

"An unidentified creature has appeared at Shangjing City Port!"

"The moon white flames are burning again!"

"Dragon’s Breath Burns the Sea!"

"Wei Shiyue?" Shangjing Seaport was a bustling place, teeming with tourists and enterprises, and people were incessantly recording and exaggerating this astonishing scene!

A white dragon! Brutally incinerating the corporate fleet, this news swiftly exploded into a hot topic, prompting the entire world to re-evaluate this war.

Wei Shiyue exerted her full strength, showing her true form, viciously spouting Moonlight Flame, incinerating one military ship after another. The fall of the White Island Bridge filled her with rage, and destroying the Shangjing fleet was her duty!

She flew through the barrage of anti-aircraft fire, with missiles and artillery leaving explosive scorch marks on her dragon scales, but her body was strong, her vitality rapidly surging to heal her wounds. Her dragon breath, inherited from her father, was capable of burning surface ships to cinders in minutes.

"The ’Mount Daiyue’ is on fire!"

"Our ship has been seriously damaged; we must abandon ship and escape!"

"We have failed to penetrate the enemy’s armor!"

"Requesting support!" Shouts for help filled the battle communication channel, the dire situation imaginable.

Wei Shiyue’s nearby fans, upon hearing the news, didn’t think to sleep, braving the risks to rush to the port to support their idol, holding up light sticks and waving glowsticks.

"Cute and mighty Wei Shiyue, the strongest combatant Wei Shiyue!"

"May all your wishes come true, all joy and favor upon you!"

"Wanna be one of your dragon scales, to always protect you~" The fans shouted slogans, cheered in groups, providing support for their idol.

Wei Shiyue also glanced down at the fans at the port, letting out a clear dragon roar in the air, beat her wings forcefully, continuously circling the sky as though responding to the fans, further igniting their enthusiasm. And beneath her, were the ships amidst flames, burning fiercely with white fire that was impossible to extinguish with conventional means; the sea was strewn with sailors swimming away from abandoned ships, and as the fire spread, the port’s onshore auxiliary facilities also caught fire. The damage control personnel struggled to save the oil storage tanks!

Compared to the panic-stricken New Xisheng Group personnel, Wei Shiyue’s fans were even more excited.

"Running her night shift, so spoiling her fans~"

"Moonlight Princess’s true dragon form! Loved, truly loved!"

"For the newbies, let me explain, our little princess has always been a fearless fighter against the corporations~"

"Hehe, Wei Shiyue’s dragon form, hehe..."

"Hope the lovely princess stays happy forever~"

Fans around the world watching the live stream saw the Moonlight Princess perform back and forth in the night sky with her true white flame form, and they were thrilled!

A live streaming sensation!
