Chapter 480: Chapter 428: Moving the Mountains
He has arrived.
In the morning, Farosa opened her eyes in the secret chamber, draped her Rainbow Cloak over her shoulders, fastened the Star Tamer to her belt, and hurried to the glass corridor on the same floor to witness the spectacle unfolding beyond the curtain wall, which illuminated the entire Northern Archipelago even more brightly.
Yan Duo had arrived.
After so many lengthy journeys, jumps, teleportations, and flights, even the sluggish Yan Duo had finally brought the Forest Master to the Northern Archipelago.
"It’s now above the Northern Archipelago, and all the photo satellites will record Yan Duo," Xu Yang said upon hearing the news. He put on a white coat and discussed with Farosa what to do next, while Lila also followed.
"Let Mond take us to the Moonlight Garden," said Farosa, smiling confidently with the majesty of the Witch Goddess.
The moment had finally come. Yan Duo’s return, and bringing the severely injured Forest Master with it, provided a true foundation for the establishment of the Transcendent Alliance.
"I’m coming too," said Lila, who had originally been part of the team of three to save Yan Duo and wanted to learn about its current condition.
Wei Shiyue was practicing her dance when she sensed something quite different was happening—a powerful wave of Zenith’s divine power was spreading as an Ancient Mystic descended above Anjiu City. Nothing could have been more nerve-racking. When she rushed upstairs to look for others, she found that Xu Yang, Farosa, and Lila had already left.
She hoped they knew what they were doing. The arrival of a being from the highest echelons could bring about a catastrophe from the smallest oversight, Wei Shiyue thought to herself.
Mond presided over the meeting. It summoned its avatars on the ground, manipulated its understanding of space-time theory, and used the Teleportation Talisman to transport attendees one after the other to the Moonlight Garden.
Yan Duo was the first to arrive. It instantly disappeared from all the major observation machines’ scans and appeared in the Moonlight Garden.
The instant it appeared, the grass beneath its feet withered and caught fire. The Forest Master, trailing behind, had also endured unspeakable scorching all along the way and now resembled a dry tree stump. When Yan Duo set the Forest Master down, it was thoroughly startled.
"Yan Duo!" It touched the Forest Master’s brittle bark with its fingertips, fearfully.
Encased in dry, cracked bark resembling a giant deer, the Forest Master was awakened by Yan Duo. Struggling to turn over, it stood on its four charred hooves to show it was unharmed.
Mond revealed part of its true form, a Moon-Silver Giant Dragon not much smaller than Yan Duo. It swept a large open space clear with its tail, bringing many ancient trees in the Moonlight Garden to ruin, but it cleared an area for Yan Duo to sit and prevent it from wandering and igniting the whole garden.
When Xu Yang, Farosa, and Lila arrived, they immediately felt the oppressive and terrifying atmosphere.
The colossal deity Yan Duo sat on one side like a mountain clad in red fur; the Giant Dragon "Moonfire" Mond lay on the other, its streamlined, elegant dragon’s head exuding a temperament of grace and intelligence. The scorched Forest Master lay in a third direction, appearing as an imposing giant deer. By comparison, a Mortal and two Witches seemed almost inconsequential.
I am the representative of Humans, Xu Yang thought to himself. As a most ordinary human being, he had come to participate in this Transcendent meeting destined to change history.
"Who is this?" Mond wasn’t familiar with Lila Nestor.
"I am a humble servant, named Lila," Lila introduced herself briefly.
Mond sensed that Lila was a Mechanical Witch and found it peculiar. Her Magic Circuits were structured in the form of electrical circuits throughout her body, connecting her soul to the stars without hindrance. She could be considered one of the most unique beings to describe, perhaps even unprecedented. Maybe she was the true Leader, subtly dominating Xu Yang and Farosa behind the scenes.
"Yan Duo!" Yan Duo was overjoyed to see all three of his friends had arrived.
Cali, the white cat, was hiding inside Yan Duo’s helmet. It was merely an Envoy, with a particularly special identity. Only Mond and Lila could notice Cali’s presence, but they made no further indication. Mond was mentally prepared for this, while Lila remained wary in silence.
"I told you I’d rescue you, didn’t I?" Farosa said to the Forest Master with a smile, gazing at it intently, "A promise made by the Witch Goddess is always kept."
"What a glorious promise," sighed the Forest Master deeply, then fell silent.
"Old friends all gathered together—it’s quite a scene..." Mond’s tail swept impatiently across the ground. Since Xu Yang had fixed the networks on the lunar surface, it often saw videos of the Moonlight Princess Wei Shiyue showing her face among Mortals and participating in performances. The mortals had made much ado about her thighs, which irked Mond deeply.
"Yan Duo? Yan Duo, Yan Duo." Yan Duo turned its head and was very concerned for Mond’s wellbeing, as the Elder Dragon was the most elegant and sensible being Yan Duo had ever met.
"Thank you for your concern," Mond responded succinctly. In its eyes, Yan Duo and the other six extraterrestrial races were just spacefaring beggars who had dropped down to the Ground—large and space-occupying, fit for tedious tasks like maintaining celestial operative.
"Let’s get to the main topic," Farosa raised her hand, "Isolation can get us killed, while unity can lead us to final victory."
"Yan Duo!" Yan Duo wanted to be with its friends.
"Beep beep murmuring..." Cali whispered quietly in its helmet, reminding Yan Duo that its primary goal was to return to its brethren.
"Yan Duo... Yan Duo..." Yan Duo expressed its dejection to Farosa, telling her that its brethren were calling it back, with each colossal extraterrestrial race longing to return to the firmament, to their own stellar civilizations.
So the big guys are making a collective move? Farosa thought to herself. That would be yet another reshuffling of powers.
The simplest point was, if Yan Duo left his position in Zenith, there certainly would be others attempting to snatch the supreme authority of the sun.
"Once you leave," Farosa warned with a patient tone, "this world will fall into eternal strife and collapse, and you will bear the greatest sin ever known in history."
"Yan Duo..." Yan Duo was heartbroken. The few hundred lunatics he had encountered before had scared him badly enough.
"Name your price," Mond turned his massive dragon head towards Farosa, staring at her with his long, sharp eyes. Yan Duo’s departure was inevitable, and Farosa was merely bargaining, Mond understood clearly.
"So," Farosa grasped the Star Tamer tightly, "Yan Duo, you will take five Fragments of the Throne of God."
The white cat Cali whispered a warning behind Yan Duo’s head. The Throne of God’s Fragments were eagerly contested by all Ancient Mystics, and they were all on Farosa, thus attracting the enmity of all neutral Mystics. As soon as Yan Duo took some of these fragments away, all the snooping and attacks would be transferred to Yan Duo.
"Yan Duo!" Yan Duo readily agreed, happy to share the risk for his good friend Farosa. It was huge, and Farosa was tiny.
"Take them, take them," Farosa extended her hand, "Five for you, and one for your kin, the Frost Giant Elride, to thank it for its contribution towards the destruction of Thousand Lakes Electronics."
"Yan Duo..." Yan Duo also bent down, releasing a strand of bright sunlight, taking the full six fragments.
Xu Yang watched carefully from the side and found that the so-called Fragments of the Throne of God resembled the metal remnants of some enormous machine, with faintly discernible etched circuit boards, alloy materials, and shattered coils, created in a form beyond human comprehension.
"I also gift you one, Forest Master," Farosa said with a smile, hiding her malevolence deep within, and handed a Throne of God’s Fragment to the Forest Master. "You wish to transform into a god as well, don’t you? I’m giving you that opportunity."
"I am so deeply grateful to you." The Forest Master bowed his head, swallowing a fragment, then lay on the ground, remaining silent.
Thus, with the two fragments already taken by Mond, Farosa had given out nine fragments, leaving only eleven with her. These fragments could be used to create a new Ascension Machine, thereby coveted by all Ancient Mystics.
"Your presence has greatly warmed this place," Mond turned his enormous dragon head, feeling that it was time for Yan Duo to leave. The Moonlight Garden, a place so secluded, had suffered burns from such a massive and foolish creature, disturbing the peace.
"Yan Duo..." Yan Duo bowed his head, and the white cat Cali had to cling on desperately to avoid falling off during the shaking.
"Keep in touch." Xu Yang presented the amulet Yan Duo had originally given him, waving at him, "How do I get to the Flame Realm space?"
"Yan Duo!" It was pleased to see its small gift still cherished by the other, "Yan Duo..."
It extended its hand, drawing a simple secret script symbol in the air; this was the magic formula, almost like a key, which could reach the barren, arid lands of Yan Duo’s realm. Lila and Xu Yang both committed it to memory.
Oh, these kind friends. Yan Duo squatted on the ground, carefully observing the good souls around it, "Moonfire" Mond, the Forest Master, Farosa, Xu Yang, Lila. They were the kindest beings it had the good fortune to encounter in the world; it was indeed very lucky to meet them.
Yan Duo truly wished to hug its friends, but that was not possible. It was so hot, imposing, dangerous, and had to live in solitude or feel better amongst its brethren. Its existence brought trouble to others; perhaps the most appropriate haven for Yan Duo was above the Galaxy.
"Yan Duo!" The Zenith Yan Duo bid farewell to everyone for the last time and then vanished within the Moonlight Garden, led by the white cat Cali to seek its brother "Dead Earth" Pomorty.
After Yan Duo left, the temperature in the Moonlight Garden rapidly dropped from its previous scorching heat to a slight coolness.
"Now is the time for civilized life to discuss matters properly." Mond walked on the grass, the ground shaking as he cast spells to repair the barren land scorched by Yan Duo.
"Come with us," Farosa turned to the Forest Master, "we will prepare the place for you."
"If the environment could be purified, we would be able to prepare high-quality water and food for trade with the Moon’s surface," Xu Yang said.
"We must heal the Forest Master; standing together in unity is most important," Mond warned, "The reborn Idith has already established its cruel reign in the White Elephant Continent, and we all know how powerful that being is. Even I can’t guarantee I could subdue it while preserving any leverage."
"Idith..." Farosa frowned at the name, which indeed posed her a severe threat. From the beginning, it had tried to snatch the Godslayer Weapon from Farosa’s hands. Should it come hunting, Farosa too had only the path of defeat. Its strength was undoubtedly among the very top of the Ancient Mystics, on the same level as Dilnai and Yan Duo, and in some aspects, even surpassing them.
Farosa pondered matters as Xu Yang went to chat with the Forest Master.
"I am Xu Yang. How may I address you," Xu Yang inquired, "aside from the title ’Forest Master,’ do you have other names?"
"I am the Forest Master," it struggled to prop itself up with its hooves, "Protector of Trees, the Primal Prince of Taixi Continent, Purifier of Civilizations, Creator of Evergreen Forests, Enlightener of the Oathkeepers, Guardian of Hunters, the Sole Leader of the Mountain Spring Spirits... I, now, need a congregation."
"Only by performing a Miracle will people be convinced to follow you," Xu Yang surmised.
"Very clever." The Forest Master stood on the grass, "... I will perform a Miracle, the greatest Miracle to lead the adoration of the most mortals."
"There are many huge Garbage Hills on the western beaches of Anjiu City," Xu Yang reminded.
"I know of them," whispered the Forest Master, "The people who live around them have made many hollow efforts to relocate them... no longer... I will see to the removal of the mountains myself."
