Chapter 460: Chapter 411 Marketing

Du Qianqian rolled back and forth on the sofa, having waited anxiously for two hours for a message from Nanase Kizuna, but it never came.

She felt so anxious that her whole body was uncomfortable, fearing the most that the efforts of Wei Shiyue would be taken as a joke! If that happened, she would definitely seek revenge.

Xu Yang was busy with his own matters, planning a new education system and preparing to secure a piece of land in Anjiu City to build a school.

The new school, in partnership with Nestor Corporation, aimed at teenagers and was set to establish a completely new mode of knowledge delivery. The prevalent educational system promoted corporate ideology, striving to enhance obedience, like a giant sieve fitting people into corporate templates. This was outdated, as progressive times required people to express courage and creativity, not servility.

Little Fool, as usual, stayed motionless, even when Du Qianqian suddenly sprang from the sofa, she just stared blankly.

"The reply came!" Du Qianqian yelled with all her might, "They agreed! It’s a deal! We’re going to Shangjing!"

She slapped her phone down on Xu Yang’s desk and then ran downstairs to share the good news with Wei Shiyue.

"Look at her, she’s a changed person," Xu Yang said as he glanced at Little Fool.

"Silly," Little Fool critically commented on Du Qianqian.

Xu Yang picked up his phone and read the message from Nanase Kizuna, who earnestly invited the singer to the luxurious Junyue Hotel in Shangjing Bay.

She had already booked a room there and prepared a signing fee of up to 10 million. She was eager to meet the singer in person and ready to pour all her efforts into promotion and marketing, promising a win-win endeavor. Everything was within Nidelaide’s plan; the kid indeed knew the ropes of this operation.

Wei Shiyue heard the news with composure.

She first asked Du Qianqian to leave, then began packing up her things, while rubbing the Charm Magic Ring on her finger, a tool left by her mother which truly worked, exerting a dimension-reducing effect on mortals.

Afterward, Wei Shiyue went to the top-floor office.

"Going to Shangjing?" Wei Shiyue looked at the inscrutable Boss Xu sitting behind the office desk.

"Of course," Xu Yang nodded. "A big star has to appear at the forefront of the stage."

"I like it very much," Wei Shiyue heartily agreed.

As soon as she arrived in the mortal realm, she felt the idol industry was her most suitable pursuit. Just like practicing martial arts, it was one of her major hobbies. Now, she was also eager to return to the spotlight, enjoy the adulation of fans, and re-enter the intoxicating corporate ideological world.

A dragon so long-lived should experience all the pleasurable things in the world at least once.

"Hehe, Little Wei, hehe..." Du Qianqian was satisfied. "Me... I will go too."

"Of course, agents should accompany," Wei Shiyue said with a smile. Du Qianqian was a funny unlucky child, and it felt quite nice to be around her. Wei Shiyue just wondered why other witches seemed not to take well to Du Qianqian.

"The signing ceremony and promotional marketing come hand in hand," Xu Yang glanced over the detailed terms. "When you get to the hotel, aside from recording songs, Nanase Kizuna will also shoot a video with you for Kyoto Infinity’s bullet-screen network as part of the marketing, providing the best promotional resources, including front-page newsfeed, top recommendations on the playback page, and splash-screen ads. Everyone will see your video as soon as they unlock their phones, and it won’t be long before you top the charts across all networks."

"I think I’ve heard of something similar before," Du Qianqian, who had been with Kyoto Infinity, was initially scared of going back, but with Wei Shiyue by her side, she was not afraid. "When Kyoto Infinity released popular videos like ’Cheese Snow Leopard’ and ’Eldest Uncle’, they also pushed them out to everyone, and then they just rocketed to fame."

"Users’ attention and time are the most valuable resources," Xu Yang agreed profoundly. "At this rate, it will be hard for Wei Shiyue not to become famous."

"Pushing videos to everyone can be kind of annoying, right?" Du Qianqian speculated. "Some people might find it irritating and then turn into haters."

"Having haters is good," Wei Shiyue knew the secret well and explained with a smile, "Fans may fade over time, but haters will badmouth every now and then. Criticism is itself a form of traffic, which means the hype is working. Controversy breeds attention. In the future, whenever a topic related to me pops up in various chat groups, proponents and opponents will start arguing, and those who didn’t know me will inevitably look me up out of curiosity, thus becoming part of new traffic."

"So that’s how it is..." Du Qianqian nodded repeatedly.

"This is commercial memetics," Wei Shiyue said with ease. "Learn well, my agent."

"News of stars and entertainment dominates modern people’s every day. It’s something one must taste," Xu Yang concluded briefly. "When you go to Shangjing, you need to bring along Nestor Corporation’s guards. Nanase Kizuna herself is unique and won’t say anything about Wei Shiyue’s dragon identity, but Shangjing is the central hub of the Northern Archipelago, a super metropolis with a population exceeding fifty million. Things are very complicated, so you can’t be careless. You must have elite witches accompanying you."

"Call that security guard named Da Pan," Wei Shiyue was intrigued by Pan Ruiyi. "She can really fight."

"She won’t come," Du Qianqian knew Pan Ruiyi would never agree to join the Silla trip—she definitely had her own little schemes, "She’s primarily the boss’s bodyguard."

"Then the boss will come with us too," Wei Shiyue reached out to invite Xu Yang, "Let’s go, all of us, to Shangjing."

Indeed, he had to go to Shangjing. Xu Yang thought. Having been in the Northern Archipelago for so long and not visiting Shangjing would be a waste.

Shangjing was the hub of the entire Northern Archipelago, with every giant corporation maintaining their own branch offices and bureaus there, and the vast and majestic corporate metropolis embodied the essence of modern technology and financial capital.

At this point, if he had never witnessed the grandeur of Shangjing, it would be too regrettable.

"Then I’ll take a trip too," Xu Yang agreed, "The date is two days from now, everyone get ready, let’s not dawdle."

"Okay, Boss," Wei Shiyue nodded.

"Great!" Du Qianqian was overjoyed, happily following Wei Shiyue out. Now she really wanted to go back in time, give herself some hard slaps, and wake herself up, to make sure she would persist, because in the future, she would encounter some very good things.

Xu Yang uploaded the document on the screen in front of him to his Digital Mind, prepared to handle work along the way. Education had laid the foundation of the entire civilization, and its design must be handled with the utmost care.

"Xu Cheng? Can you stay at home quietly?" Xu Yang looked up at Little Fool.

"Guabu." Little Fool feared being left behind; she stared blankly with tears welling in her eyes and a sour nose, feeling an extreme sorrow at the prospect of being separated from the father in her heart.

Xu Yang sighed internally. His parents had never been with him. Seeing Little Fool like this inevitably reminded him of himself. He had also endured difficult times in his childhood, fending for himself in the corporate foster center, never once seeing his parents. They were the crushed foundations, dead from overwork at their stations, fueling Xu Yang’s drive to break away from the corporate system.

Now that he had Little Fool by his side, was he supposed to let her be heartbroken and lonely?

"Forget it, let’s go together," Xu Yang decided to take Little Fool with him, feeling she still needed to grow up more before she could truly be independent.

He went downstairs to find Farosa. Little Fool followed him along the way, not particularly bright but vaguely sensing Xu Yang’s profound commitment, secretly hoping she could grow up quickly and repay his kindness.

"We are going to Shangjing," Xu Yang informed Farosa of the upcoming plan, "to scout ahead for the next phase of our endeavours."

"Shangjing isn’t exactly a safe place, so be careful," Farosa loved the bustle of Shangjing but was aware of the hidden dragons and crouching tigers there, where the core area’s land price was 450,000 per square meter, a place of lavish splendour and hedonistic pleasures.

"I will be fine for sure, and I’ll bring you back some nice things," Xu Yang sat beside Farosa. She made a detailed list for him, asking for rare materials, ancient books, and jewelry. Xu Yang secured the list.

Farosa kissed Xu Yang, then pushed him down on the blanket, feeling their heartbeats deeply.

Love was without question. The only drawback was that both of them had complicated minds, full of strategies and plans, which made their love seem measured.

However, they were both considering each other’s well-being. Up to this point, they could say that they had given each other everything, with no reservations. After all, the world is complex, and it’s hard to predict what might happen, so they needed to look out for each other to avoid falling into peril.

Little Fool looked on blankly but could still feel a unique kind of affection spreading. She knew nothing of the reality, but in her innocence, she understood that this was something beautiful in the world that could only be grasped through personal experience.

Then Little Fool was sent out, not to return for some time.

"Guabu." Little Fool walked down the hallway outside the secret room and saw Kirino Reisei coming out of the elevator. She had never liked Kirino Reisei because her face looked like a monstrous chaos, with no features to speak of.

"Are Mom and Dad here?" Kirino Reisei, carrying two notebooks, walked towards Little Fool and crouched in front of her.

"Guabu."

"Give them these notes," Kirino Reisei said, weighed down with thoughts and also afraid of speaking with Farosa. She had been working for Farosa lately and had developed a strong feeling about her abrasive nature.

Little Fool fumbled with the notebooks, both filled with content.

One was the suggestions, outline planning, and deep appraisals written after reading "Siphon!" fifty times, and the other was her research notes on the management personnel of Kyoto Infinity, detailing their weaknesses, entangled interests, and allegiances. Kirino Reisei sighed quietly.

Kizuna... sorry... this is all the help I can manage to provide.
