Cyber Era Witch
Chapter 450 - 402

Chapter 450: 402

Wei Shiyue was in turmoil, not knowing how to deal with her maniacal father.

At that moment, she thought of Du Qianqian again.

Bravery was Wei Shiyue’s specialty. She was not lacking in fame or beauty either. At the company, she was a rising supernova idol. After joining the banner of rebellion, she transformed into the White Dragon dominating the battlefield.

But she had always lacked a friend, and Du Qianqian seemed capable of filling that gap.

She lay down to sleep next to Du Qianqian, and when Du Qianqian awoke and saw Wei Shiyue’s sleeping posture, it was like that of a carefree girl next door, with her hands resting behind her head, her right leg bent, and her left leg straight.

When Du Qianqian’s gaze moved to Wei Shiyue’s thighs, she instantly understood why she had become an idol. The claim of having the world’s most beautiful legs was not without merit: long and well-proportioned, healthy and plump, fair and delicate, they should never be wrapped in stockings, as that would undoubtedly diminish their natural beauty.

Du Qianqian swallowed hard, feeling that merely looking was a sin.

She tiptoed away from the bed, and waking up in the morning to such a stunning pair of legs sobered her up quite a bit, prompting her to quickly think things through.

Finally, Du Qianqian realized she had to get in touch with 101 and 102 as soon as possible.

"How’s Xin City doing?" Du Qianqian hurriedly asked.

"You’re already the fifth person to ask," came the despondent voice of 102 on the other end, "After much difficulty, we managed to calm down those residents controlled by Mireya, knocking them out with anesthesia bombs. Now we’re chasing her as she’s running north, and it looks like she’s trying to make it to the border!"

"Just across the border lies Kyushu High Pavilion," Du Qianqian’s heart skipped a beat, but to avoid waking up Wei Shiyue, she chose to speak softly, "... If she makes it in there, then she’ll be beyond reach everywhere under the heavens..."

"I want to chase her too, but she’s using those mechanoids to block me, and I can’t harm them," 102 was upset, "I have to ask my sister for help, otherwise I’d have captured Mireya by now! Ah, it’s all her fault for causing trouble at the command center in Xin City. This is why the situation with the Righteous Army suddenly worsened and turned out like this today."

"... So... is Mireya now fleeing into the mountains at the border of the Xingping North Road?" Du Qianqian inquired.

She had never clashed with Mireya, but knew she possessed terrifying mind control abilities and was cunning and despicable.

If it could be said that the chaos in Silla was caused by her, it was entirely reasonable. Due to Mireya’s sole effort, the forceful advance of the Righteous Army instantly turned into a dispersed and reversed retreat, squandering a great opportunity.

"If only we had helicopters and shuttle machines," 102 sighed, "then we could search the mountains from the sky."

Searching from the sky...

Du Qianqian glanced at Wei Shiyue, who was resting in the room.

"Erm, I can find someone who can fly..." she said softly, "and it’s much more powerful than any helicopter or shuttle machine."

"Can you bring it here?" 102 inquired, "Don’t want to let Mireya escape again! Mireya, Spiritual Fire, and the one backing them, Lu Sizhou... This delegation from Heavenly Cardinal Manufacturing is too difficult to handle! If we can’t capture Mireya, it feels like all our efforts are wasted! This Mireya person will definitely cause delays somewhere else in the future!"

Lu Sizhou... Du Qianqian pondered.

Inside the room, Wei Shiyue had already been woken by the communication and came out wearing plastic slippers.

"Need help?" Wei Shiyue asked.

"Yes," Du Qianqian nodded vigorously, feeling for the first time that she spoke with such authority, "... Come with me! Let’s go sort out the one who’s causing all the chaos!"

Elsewhere, Mireya was on the run.

She initially thought she could easily control the Twin Witches, but found that she couldn’t withstand their coordinated assault. The pressure from the twins was too great, with just one teleportation enough to catch Mireya off-guard.

Mireya had no choice but to flee, using those mind-controlled mechanoids as her meat shields to buy time.

Although 102 was unexpectedly smart, she naturally did not want to harm them, so 101 had to assist 102 in dealing with them, gathering soldiers and switching to anesthesia bombs to put those controlled poor souls to sleep instead of sending them to their deaths.

Using this time, Mireya took the chance to escape before 101 could come after her.

The road to escape was long.

From city to suburbs, then to dense forests and deep mountains, Mireya kept moving further away. Fortunately, she had a clear destination in mind for her escape.

That was Xia.

With Miss Lu’s guarantee, the vast Xia would become a safe haven for Mireya. Heading northwest, just over the Boundary River.

A great river divided Xia and Silla, and once Mireya stood on its banks, she would be victorious, as the giant enterprise Kyushu High Pavilion awaited her there.

Digital Mind alerted her that she was about to enter the signal-less wilderness. Mireya, gauging the signal strength, communicated with Lu Sizhou for the last time.

"Miss Lu..." Mireya sent the message, "I’ve been driven out of Xin City. The Twin Witches currently serving with Nestor Corporation, Yi Lingyi and Yi Ling’er, one possesses teleportation, and the other immense strength. They’ve had a grudge against me since Aizu City. I believe they have always remained loyal to Nestor Corporation after leaving a major company, and they have discovered and are pursuing me. But my mission in Silla is complete... it will never unite now... I have faith in my abilities... Spiritual Fire has already written a report."

"Spiritual Fire and I have lost contact," Lu Sizhou replied, "Did you abandon it and leave on your own?"

"Going to pick up Spiritual Fire... is very troublesome," Mireya could not retreat carrying the cumbersome Jade Automaton.

"It’s more expensive than you," said Lu Sizhou.

That hurt Mireya profoundly.

"Sorry," Mireya sighed.

"And to not have encountered Wei Shiyue, that’s like losing the biggest fish," Lu Sizhou sent the last message, "I’ll have Qing Yao protect you. There’s an abandoned watch station 25 miles to your north, on a mountaintop, equipped with a shortwave radio."

Mireya could no longer contact Lu Sizhou, Miss Lu’s indifference sending shivers through her.

Lu Sizhou mentioned "Qing Yao," and Mireya recognized her as a powerful Battle Witch under the Kyushu High Pavilion, stationed at the northern border for years.

Among the recorded rankings of corporate witch combat power, Qing Yao held the 26th place, one of the powerful among the High-Ranking Witches, below the top 20 renowned Dominator Witches, with a rich combat history and classified magic power.

She should be able to kill the pair of sisters. Mireya thought to herself. Qing Yao was a powerful Battle Witch meticulously cultivated by a giant corporation, with top-notch equipment, combat skills, and other auxiliary abilities.

Mireya sighed. But when would it end?

By late night, she finally saw the mountaintop outpost Lu Sizhou had described, and as she trekked alone through the deep mountains in the moonlit night, drenched in sweat, she couldn’t help feeling a touch of bleakness.

When Mireya still had consciousness, Lu Sizhou had amputated her arms and legs to replace them with mechanical prosthetics. Before this dreadful surgery, Lu Jing was the only one to object.

However, Lu Jing’s concern made Lu Sizhou deem her untrustworthy, forcing Lu Jing to become Mireya’s puppet and collaborate with her work in Silla.

Lu Jing... Why was she so kind to me?

Mireya found it incredible.

There was such a kind and gentle witch in the world, more just and merciful than the other witches, full of profound sympathy for others.

She checked her mental link; the connection with Lu Jing had been severed, probably due to distance.

That was for the best...

Mireya hoped that Lu Jing would be free; the company didn’t deserve her.

Mireya lowered her head and climbed the slope, knowing she would be safe once she reached that outpost.

The further she went, the more exhausted she became.

She felt dizzy and disoriented, the sensation of moving her prosthetic limbs felt very different, and Mireya could never get used to it, as if they were not her own limbs but four iron rods welded to her bones.

It seemed that things always went awry when she opposed "them" — the pair of sisters, Farosa, Nestor Corporation. Mireya’s thoughts were in disarray.

She had finally arrived.

Mireya reached the summit of the hill, looking back at the desolate jungle she had come through, unable to imagine she had walked such a long distance on foot.

She was exhausted, pushing open the rusted iron door of the abandoned outpost, which had belonged to the Modern Entertainment Company for eavesdropping on the secret signals of the northern part of Xia, left unused as the influence of the Xingping North Road Righteous Army rose.

There was plenty of functioning equipment, but unfortunately, no canned food or coffee.

Mireya dragged a black metal-backed chair over and slumped into it, her phantom limbs aching as non-existent muscles complained of their weariness, and she used her new iron hands to switch on the radio, quickly locating Kyushu High Pavilion’s signal station.

She sent out a distress signal.

Qing Yao, carrying the Iron Wings, received Mireya’s signal and flew swiftly to the abandoned outpost above.

She pushed open the door and entered, making eye contact with Mireya, who dared not use magic on Qing Yao, as that would diminish her combat power, putting herself at a disadvantage. Instead, she simply bowed to Qing Yao.

"Miss Lu..." Mireya said softly, "Miss Lu wants me alive."

"I’ve received Miss Lu’s message; I will protect you," Qing Yao said. "I was supposed to escort you across the river directly, but with the enemy already on our heels, rest assured, stay here, and no one will harm you while I am here."

"I need a weapon for self-defense!" Mireya had fled too hastily, without taking anything.

"Take this." Qing Yao pulled out a large-caliber handgun from her military carrying gear and handed it over to Mireya.

Receiving the gun, Mireya felt slightly reassured.

She couldn’t see what Qing Yao looked like. The other was dressed in a full set of alloy steel heavy Witch Armor, with fully extended Iron Wings on her back, with a red two-headed spear made of Yan Duo Metal in her right hand, radiating heat from its glowing embers, fully armed.

Such a senior Battle Witch cost an enormous amount to train and equip and was part of Kyushu High Pavilion’s core elite forces.

If it weren’t for the Eastern Hemisphere mired in civil strife, Qing Yao would have certainly replaced Pan Ruiyi to join the Riot Control Mobile Unit, co-defending the Eastern Hemisphere’s order and combating the anti-corporate forces.

With her presence, Mireya thought to herself, she could also be at ease. She hoped that this nightmare would soon end, and that Qing Yao would kill all her enemies.

Mireya had never exerted her own will; she had always controlled others with mind control, while her own will was negligible, constantly used as a tool by other, more powerful forces.

From the Lighthouse Core to Dilnai, then to Heavenly Cardinal Manufacturing and Lu Sizhou, Mireya was passed around among various powers, with even the strongest of individuals unable to bear such prolonged homelessness and turmoil.

She closed her eyes, simply wishing to rest well and have a beautiful dream.

In her next life, she resolved not to be a witch.

— The roar of a dragon resounded from afar, shaking the earth and nearly breaking the trees. Mireya woke with a start from her seat, leaning on the window to look outside.

Qing Yao grabbed her double-headed spear.

"Don’t come out no matter what happens," Qing Yao said as she walked outside the abandoned outpost, "I can kill Wei Shiyue; you will only be in the way during the battle!"

"Okay," Mireya nodded weakly. In truth, after using mind control so much in Xin City, she had little magic power left.

Qing Yao set out to begin her dragon slaying.
