Chapter 443: Chapter 398 Cat and Mouse Game

The downfall of things takes but an instant.

Xingping North Road, Xin City.

Both 101 and 102 were summoned by Spiritual Fire to discuss matters, with 102 following behind 101. The heating was insufficient, and she worried her sister would get cold.

The Righteous Army was poor in many respects, especially the people in the rear who scrimped and saved to support the front line. This restaurant was specifically used to entertain foreign guests and the conditions were considered decent, but 102 knew she definitely would not miss this kind of place.

Spiritual Fire sat in the office provided by the Righteous Army, the wallpaper grayish-yellow. Going along with the flow of the era, an old intelligent screen had been installed, but it could no longer be turned on. Spiritual Fire was always connected to the large, outdated terminal next to her with a data cable, continuously transmitting data.

"I’ve heard some news that Kyushu High Pavilion’s army might cross the border and interfere with Silla’s affairs," said Spiritual Fire, "Even Xingping North Road is no longer safe."

Kyushu High Pavilion and Silla were neighboring territories on land; when it came to geopolitical relations, whether Silla was chaotic or not ultimately depended on Xia’s say.

"Should any crisis arise," responded 101 cautiously, "we will consider implementing emergency measures to escort all of you to a place of safety as determined by us."

102’s gaze lingered on Spiritual Fire. She stood up, wanting to leave because she couldn’t find Lu Jing and was eager to find out where he might be. Xu Yang’s instruction was to keep a close watch on this delegation and not allow them to act rashly. Those other corporate diplomatic personnel, mere placeholders, didn’t matter, but Lu Jing had to be watched, as well as the black containment device he carried with him.

If what she had said was true, then Mireya was preserved within it. By what means had Heavenly Cardinal Manufacturing ensured Mireya’s loyalty? She had just recently seized the Haiyun.

"Yi Ling’er?" Spiritual Fire noticed 102’s restless demeanor.

"Where is Lu Jing?" 102 couldn’t help asking.

"He took a handwritten list from me to the Righteous Army logistics department to request supplies," explained Spiritual Fire, then showed them the measurement data on the terminal’s visual interface, pointing out that the Jade Automaton’s battery was only at 33%, "Silla has insufficient power supply, and I certainly can’t afford a shortage of energy."

"Oh..." 102 settled back into her seat somewhat.

Unlucky robot, a major power consumer. Without electricity, it could do nothing. She exchanged a look with her sister, feeling the situation to be very troublesome. They were in a foreign land, protecting a diplomatic delegation from a massive corporation, and they had to be meticulous in every aspect as if they were walking on an exceedingly fine thread, with even a slight breeze from all around seeming like a threat.

was very concerned—if there was any problem with this order, Nestor Corporation would suffer substantial losses. Other enterprises in the Eastern Hemisphere were constantly evaluating Nestor Corporation’s business situation, just as a newly opened shop needed a large number of good reviews to maintain its reputation. If there were a flood of bad reviews soon after opening, the company couldn’t expect to last long.

The visual sensors of Spiritual Fire roamed back and forth over the sisters, capturing their movement data. It definitely wanted to keep them here, so as not to disturb the good that Lu Jing was doing, as what Lu Jing was doing now simply could not be discovered by the Witch sisters.

At that moment, Lu Jing was opening the black casket to release Mireya.

She entered the password on both sides, opened the casket, the airtight lock disengaged, releasing a stream of colorless gas, and the containment device slowly unfolded. Mireya stretched out her metallic arm and climbed out of the casket, with Lu Jing helping her to leave.

Mireya’s arms and legs had been replaced with prosthetic limbs, covered with black electroplated armor, seamlessly connected to the black bodysuit on her torso. Every joint of hers was rigged with explosive devices, and a micro poison release device had been implanted in her chest. Now, her life hung on the will of Lu Sizhou, forcing Mireya to behave and complete her mission.

She smiled as if no one else was around, with Lu Jing following, handing Mireya the Heavenly Cardinal Manufacturing diplomat uniform they had prepared in advance for her to wear.

"It’s always such hard work to compose lines," said Lu Jing, "to speak through their tongues, to see through their eyes. It would have been nice if 102 had been willing to see me in the car."

"Well... fortunately, the progress so far is not bad. Let’s hope everything continues to go smoothly," Mireya said, putting her arms into the sleeves of the garment. Her bulging upper body made the entire outfit look awkward,

"Poor me, my little life is in the hands of Lu Sizhou," said Lu Jing, "Perhaps it was my destiny to become a Witch."

Lu Jing and Mireya exchanged a smile.

Mireya connected her Digital Mind to Spiritual Fire and discovered that 101 and 102 were still being held in the restaurant’s office, clearly ordered to monitor the Heavenly Cardinal Manufacturing delegation. She realized she had to take care of the situation quickly. She was well aware of the sisters’ temperaments—101 calm and composed, 102 naive and innocent.

Lu Jing whistled, relocking the casket-like containment device, tidied the room, and then casually left.

Hidden within the containment device, Mireya could still connect to the outside world through her Digital Mind. After days of hiding, she had figured out the basic situation of the Righteous Army.

Mireya and Lu Jing arrived at the Righteous Army’s Supreme Committee headquarters building. As soon as the two Guardsmen at the entrance exchanged glances with Mireya, they lowered their rifles reflectively, nodded thoughtfully, then entered the sentry office, green-lighting their visit all the way, taking the cameras offline, and disabling the automatic security system.

"Alright, the Mind Control show starts now," Mireya said, clasping her hands closely together with a slight smile.

As she moved through the building, all of the Righteous Army officers, clerical workers, service personnel, and working Witches capitulated in the instant they made eye contact with Mireya. They returned to their seats inside the rooms, and while the building had many people bustling about initially, it quickly became a silent edifice. No one could escape unscathed from Mireya’s Mind Control magic power.
