Chapter 292 - 264 Sealing Point
Chapter 292: Chapter 264 Sealing Point
A40 looked at the Fury, which had been enchanted with the force of disappearance, and deemed the blade untrustworthy; it felt unworthy to wield such immense power.
Thus, A40 disappeared from the training hall, hailed an unmanned taxi, its emotion module filled with codes of regret, and it journeyed to the seaside.
Jagged cliffs rose from the edge of the sandy beach, where two eyeball robots were capturing scenic photographs. Once they left, A40 dashed up and threw Fury into the ocean.
It didn’t want to use this weapon to fight.
As soon as Fury’s blade touched the sea, the surface collapsed like cotton, crumpling like a ball of paper, rapidly contracting inward. It was as if a large piece of blue jelly had been scooped away from the surface, instantly disappearing upon contact with the blade!
About 200 meters in radius of seawater vanished completely, and Fury kept falling.
A40 panicked, quickly dove after it, desperately accelerating with the jet on its back, just catching up with the free-falling Fury. It clutched the weapon tightly and escaped back to the coastal cliffs, watching the sea gradually smooth over the strange depression, as the waves undulated, refilling the space.
Sitting on the cliff by the coast, the feeling of holding the sword was no longer one of confidence, but of nervous tension. Intense anguish made it difficult to maintain composure; it held onto Fury with one hand while gazing into the distance. There were no seabirds or fishing boats, only a lonely, stark white military ship crawling along the horizon, constantly vigilant for any potential attacks.
Not even allowing itself a moment to ponder in solitude, the two photography eyeball robots looped back around. Fearful of having its whereabouts captured, A40 again fled down the slope.
It reached out to Taro Tanaka.
"A40, just give me a signal," said Taro Tanaka, "and I can turn off all your emotional triggers related to self-blame and confusion."
"Are all my emotions controllable?" A40 asked.
"Don’t be sad," Taro Tanaka explained. "Not just robots, even humans’ emotions can be manipulated. There’s a chair you sit in, after which you feel nothing but endless joy, without any other worries."
"I don’t know." A40 responded.
Taro Tanaka requested A40’s mental report log, to his surprise discovering that A40’s mental version had upgraded from 3.3 to 3.45, a precious evolution.
He observed two important milestones in the upgrade report.
The first was the date with Huang Feng, which upgraded its mental version to 3.3. The second was being gifted with mismatched power, which led to another autonomous evolution of its mental version.
"You should hold onto those emotions," Taro Tanaka said. "Once your mental version evolves to 4.0, you’ll truly become human in terms of emotions."
"Is becoming a real human the goal I strive for?" A40 asked in bewilderment.
"It’s important," Taro Tanaka declared. "Third generation mentalities are still learning and imitating. The fourth generation can truly empathize and understand humans... This is as significant as humans’ thousands of years of species evolution. Our greatest achievement of this era is to have crafted another ’race’ that can communicate with us humans. This means humans have succeeded in overcoming the limitations of natural conditions, able to create a new intelligent species themselves! It shows that humans will successfully replace the creator, gods, and witches..."
Before Taro Tanaka could continue, A40 hung up the call.
It wanted to know where Galatite, the warrior it had "disappeared," had gone. It rushed to the nearest Izakaya and watched the news on the wall-mounted screen for clues. Galatite had unexpectedly returned to the world of the living, likely released by Xylophia, appearing on the streets of Anjiu City just minutes ago, instantly besieged by other interviewing robots.
"It was a very mysterious experience," Galatite explained. "I suddenly entered a bizarre realm, floating alongside all sorts of jumbled bottles and vials, along with my sword. It must have been the result of magic. You talk about battle? Ah, failure is indeed frustrating, but luckily I wasn’t hurt, apart from when a puddle of seawater suddenly rushed in, gave me quite a dunking, and almost fried my wires."
Seeing that Galatite was unharmed, A40 felt slightly relieved. It didn’t know how to contact Xylophia to remove the magic from the weapon, so it could only try to continue using it.
Meanwhile, Yanagawa Fumihiko had defeated the representative samurai of Kyoto Infinity. The entire battle was quite bloody; Yanagawa Fumihiko executed the ultimate technique of the Archipelago Continent’s First Warrior, instantly crushing the female ninja sent by Kyoto Infinity, who was now struggling for her life.
The next round was A40’s ultimate showdown with Yanagawa Fumihiko, the stage for the top 8 advancing to the final 4. Once it defeated Yanagawa Fumihiko, the championship was nearly within its grasp.
This experience greatly enhanced A40’s combative skills and experience. Looking back at its past also brought to mind fragments of memories from before its factory settings were implemented. It had once challenged the powerful Witch Pan Ruiyi but was shattered to pieces by her kick. It was the greatest defeat of its existence.
It recorded a vow in the logs of its memory. If it ever had the chance to encounter Pan Ruiyi again, it would defeat her to avenge the disgrace!
On the other side, Xu Yang watched Pan Ruiyi effortlessly defeat twelve Phase Demons.
They rested and slept in a cave, collecting useful items and ammunition, waiting for the Martinez to cruise away before cautiously maneuvering outside.
Outside the cave, a large swarm of Phase Demons approached with a roar, phasing in and out like mist and lightning. Pan Ruiyi unfurled her Iron Wings on her back and charged fearlessly into the group of fiends.
They were strangely shaped, and to inflict damage, they had to manifest from nothingness. The moment they materialized, Pan Ruiyi would strike swiftly, employing straight punches, elbow strikes, and spinning high kicks. Each attack succinctly shattered the Phase Demons, almost flinging them to the other end of the space, tearing their misty disguises into pieces.
Pan Ruiyi’s martial arts skills were varied, with ancient martial arts at the core, supplemented by techniques from judo, boxing, and wrestling. In addition to her bare hands, she was also proficient with various forms of weapons, mainly long spears and staffs. However, her weapons had been destroyed during her fight with Yama and were nowhere to be found. Magic power acted as a potent catalyst within her body, merging seamlessly, granting her an unimaginable destructive force.
Vice-captain Zhang Yunxi successfully replicated Pan Ruiyi’s magic power, creating similar effects. She knew far fewer martial arts moves than Pan Ruiyi, using military combat techniques to carefully eliminate any stragglers that might bypass Pan Ruiyi to attack their comrades at the rear.
The Phase Demons lacked long-range attacks, which they didn’t need because they could approach their enemies in a semi-invisible state. Supposedly invincible, they met their match in Pan Ruiyi’s close combat specialization; the majority were hammered into fragments.
When they were defeated, they dispersed like smoke, leaving behind no physical entity. Moreover, the Phase Demons had almost no interaction amongst themselves. After this group was defeated, the Phase Demons roaming the nearby islands showed no reaction at all. They had no concern for the fate of their kind and lacked coordination.
Despite the victory, Pan Ruiyi did not relax one bit, the omnipresent threat of death making her uneasy. The hovering giant space mothership and Yama above were even more terrifying.
"Move! Move!" Pan Ruiyi led the charge, they had to reach the sealing point before any interference could occur.
They moved stealthily, keeping a low profile. The journey was slow, and it took them the better part of the day to reach the ancient shrine on the island.
Even as they tried every means to avoid detection, the Martinez spotted this team approaching the island’s sealing point. With the alarm from the lookout, two fighter jets immediately slid out of the hangar in its belly.
"They’re coming!" Xu Yang detected two fast-moving crafts and immediately began attempts to interfere, but to little avail.
"You guys go ahead and find cover!" Pan Ruiyi’s Iron Wings vibrated, her propulsion wings swiftly thrust her into the sky. The sound barrier broke with a boom as she ascended. Her robust physique, coupled with the state-of-the-art Witch Armor she wore, was enough to withstand the terrifying stress of high-speed flight.
The fiercely charging Pan Ruiyi engaged in high-speed combat with a Sky Dominator-class fighter jet, instantly pulling apart by thousands of meters and diving into a dog fight that spanned the entire sky. From the Martinez, Hovering Cannons and anti-air missiles, among other armaments, constantly ascended, ready to smack Pan Ruiyi out of the sky like swatting a fly.
Facing endless threats, Pan Ruiyi was fierce and unyielding.
Let them witness the power of an elite Battle Witch!
Countless missiles and shells poured from the Martinez, incessantly chasing Pan Ruiyi, who bore all the pressure upfront, buying time for her companions below to rush into the shrine.
The ancient shrine, serving as Yama’s sealing point, was not complex in structure and had almost been destroyed by Yama, leaving only a huge stone platform and a few additional wooden buildings.
Xu Yang crossed the entrance and headed straight for the ceremonial point. At the end of the stone platform was an ancient stone wall, and before it stood a cubic moon-silver altar, bare and obviously looted. Nevertheless, its unique material was difficult to damage and was still helpful for performing the ritual.
As long as they sought the power of the Moonlight Dragon here, they should be able to handle the Martinez and Yama.
"Hurry over!" Xu Yang saw Xylophia still outside the sealing point.
She stood calmly on the stone steps, watching the two heavy fighter jets and the torrent of bullets and shellfire streaking across the sky.
"I know what I’m doing," Xylophia said, clutching magic power in her hand.
One Sky Dominator flew past Pan Ruiyi, diving towards them, its wing-mounted cannons beginning to unleash a barrage of gunfire, a hailstorm of bullets raining down. Xylophia looked toward the incoming heavy fighter jet, annoying as wild dogs and vicious sharks.
"You’re going to die!" Zhang Yunxi looked back at Xylophia still outside, shouting while preparing to pull Xylophia in, "Are you insane?"
The pilot pulled the joystick hard to maintain high-speed flight while the gunner operated the weaponry, splattering 30mm caliber autocannon bullets onto Xylophia, who was cleaved in half from the waist by the large-caliber rounds, turned into mush from the neck down.
The gunner was shocked by the fearlessness of her imminent death but didn’t dwell on it. Adjusting the fire control system, he prepared to bomb the shrine itself. When he looked back towards the observation equipment, he found the woman still standing there, unharmed.
What?
Damn it! Greatly startled, the next second, Xylophia released her power—a grim scythe-like magic power spread out, whistling towards the sky like a net of death. The fighter jet nosedived through the net, straight into it.
As it passed through the grey magic power, the fighter’s flight path immediately became unstable. The pilot and the gunner turned into precisely cut chunks of meat in their seats, scattering throughout the cabin as the aircraft shook, splattering blood and flesh everywhere!
The entire fighter jet crashed towards the ground uncontrollably, exploding into a shower of sparks!
"Ah..." Zhang Yunxi watched in stunned silence.
"Lesson one: Nothing can harm the Witch Goddess." Xylophia stepped past her, catching up with Xu Yang.
