Cyber Era Witch -
Chapter 279 - 251: Beloved
Chapter 279: Chapter 251: Beloved
Leaving Farosa to manage her own affairs, Xu Yang went down to the Witches’ activity room.
"Wow, wow!" 102 and Shallow Dream were the most naive and lively, hand in hand they ran around the room now ten times larger, and only when they saw Xu Yang did they calm down a bit.
"This place is really amazing," Shallow Dream couldn’t stop praising, "I never dreamed I would come to such a nice place."
was also happy, finally not having to share a room with her sister, as she could have her own private space.
"Is everything running smoothly?" Xu Yang followed them around the room, "Generally, everything seems perfect during the design phase, but you only run into various problems when you actually start using it."
"I can’t think of anything wrong with it." 102 walked over to the more advanced automatic cooking machine, pressed a button, and after a short operation, vanilla ice cream started to emerge. She immediately leaned under the machine, mouth open, waiting to eat.
"Eating too much will make you fat, right?" Xu Yang wondered, though he had never seen a truly fat Witch before, the plumpest one he had seen was still that Poison Master, but her fat was correctly distributed where it should be.
"Hehe," Shallow Dream pulled 102 out from under the machine.
Looking at 102 again, Xu Yang noticed she had grown a lot since he last saw her, her stature had increased by several centimeters. If she once had the figure of an immature girl, she was now racing towards adolescence, her face transforming from a baby face to something more beautiful, even her freckles had disappeared.
"This is the impressive part." Shallow Dream led them to the activity room’s home cinema. She sat on the spacious bed, which was big enough for more than 10 Witches to romp around on, facing a wide metal screen, with a complete set of speakers placed in every corner of the room, offering an unprecedented audio-visual experience.
Shallow Dream pressed the remote control, starting with an opening ad followed by a promotion for the Colosseum Battle Festival, playing a selection of excellent clips from previous competitions. The intense robot-vs-samurai confrontations, the unleashing of martial arts expertise, and the use of every trick in the book resulted in a dizzyingly close combat.
"Wow..." 102 watched happily, "I want to participate too."
"There are competitions for Battle Witches," Xu Yang said. "But there are none in the Battle Festival, all previous festivals have been contests between humans and robots."
"That’s a shame." 102 shook her body slightly, "If I fought in it, I could definitely make it spectacular!"
Xu Yang looked at 102 and couldn’t help but sense the different paths of destiny.
While previously looking up data on Blackfire Innovation, he read about a Witch from the same series as them, codenamed 99, with Magic Power of bone claws, dispatched to the Colosseum to fight by the Blackfire Innovative Faction until she was exhausted and killed.
However, 101 and 102 ultimately survived, and though they had a limited lifespan, Farosa could constantly reset their physiological conditions, thus avoiding early death. Without Farosa’s Magic Power, they could only live for another 5 years at most.
"I want to watch blockbusters," Shallow Dream said.
"No," 102 grabbed Shallow Dream, holding her in her arms, "let’s watch the Colosseum preselection fights."
Xu Yang switched the large screen to the Colosseum Arena’s combat matches, which were currently in the preselection stage.
There were a total of 64 slots for the main competition, of which 32 had been predetermined, including the New World Mechanism. The remaining 32 slots were left to preselection fights, where companies of smaller scale or weaker connections had to send their warriors to compete fiercely, ultimately deciding who would enter the main event.
Xu Yang glanced at the spot reserved for the New World Mechanism in the main event, which was in the right half of the eighth group, A40. Their opponent would be coming from the preselection fights.
He browsed the schedule and found that this preselection match had already ended, but the information had not yet been updated, so he decided to watch the recording of the match.
The winner of this match would compete against A40.
On an empty battlefield, two "monsters" were confronting each other.
One was a Samurai from The East Industrial Company named Li Si, 25 years old, clad in a custom-made Power Armor, which concealed his features. From official photos without armor, he appeared to be a rough, menacing man.
His Armor was intricately detailed and heavy. Its black armor steel made it robust and thick, and it was built as a seamless integrated unit, leaving no gaps or flaws, making it virtually a humanoid tank. He could even crush his opponents with sheer battering and crushing force. In his hand, he wielded an astonishingly large Ion Axe. The blade flickered with a high-density blue ion beam, giving him a massive advantage in destroying Armor.
The other was a Samurai representing Enomoto Bank, Oshima Saemon, well into his fifties, with a wealth of experience and technical skill. Dressed in black Ninja garb, yet of towering stature, he could be called a giant Ninja, holding a massive Nodachi and carrying a scroll of Ninjutsu as tall as a man on his back. His face was covered with a black cloth, his posture stable, apparently using a mix of Nodachi martial arts and Ninjutsu in combat.
"Watch closely, you can learn a lot," Xu Yang said, turning to 102. Without any reminder from him, 102 was already fully immersed in the battle about to unfold.
She could pick up on many details, the Chainsaw Angel had taught her how to judge the strength of techniques and Power, guiding her on the path to becoming a strong warrior. 102 had no Power to manipulate reality, relying only on her own enhanced body to meet challenges, requiring her to use every muscle, every bone, even every cell to its fullest potential. Gradually, she became deaf to "noise" from the outside world, all her attention focused on the battle at hand.
In the venue, the moment the Electronic Referee gave the signal, Ninja Saemon vanished in a puff of smoke, leaving only a cloud on the Ground; he had appeared behind Li Si in an instant, swinging his Nodachi at Li Si. Li Si hadn’t noticed the strike, but his Power Armor had an adaptive defense system, and a dark blue energy shield suddenly appeared, greatly diminishing the force of the blade’s strike.
Immediately after, Li Si turned and rammed Saemon with a swift blow of his axe handle, hitting Saemon’s upper arm and leaving a bruise. Saemon reacted by horizontally swinging his sword, executing a refined technique, slashing with all his might at Li Si, not at his torso but aiming for his weapon. Li Si instinctively lifted his Ion Axe to block, but the hilt was cut in half, and Saemon followed with a thrust, stabbing heavily into Li Si’s abdomen.
The Power Armor absorbed the majority of the damage, but the cracks on the armor were visible, seeping blood. Li Si stepped back, discarding the broken half of the axe handle and wielded the long-handled axe as if it were a one-handed axe. When Oshima Saemon pressed forward, Li Si struck down fiercely, forcing Oshima Saemon to dodge the sharp edge, and as Li Si pursued the attack, Oshima Saemon shouted, leaving a wooden stump in his place. The axe hit only the wooden decoy, failing to inflict effective damage on Oshima Saemon.
Li Si was furious and spun around subconsciously, just in time to see Oshima Saemon’s strike. They clashed several more times, neither gaining the upper hand.
Even though it was a replayed video, and the outcome was already decided, 102 watched as if she were right there on the spot, repeatedly putting herself in their shoes and gaining detailed feedback from the battle.
If it were her on the Colosseum stage facing opponents like Li Si or Oshima Saemon, what would she do? 102 pondered thoroughly, and when Magic Power entered her brain, she indeed felt smarter than before.
The deciding factor in the battle turned out to be physical stamina. The fight lasted a full 30 minutes, which was considered excessively long in the Colosseum battles. Li Si was young and robust, steadily engaged and the drugs built into his Power Armor continuously provided him new mental encouragement, keeping him from tiring. In contrast, Oshima Saemon was older, and his movements became gradually less vigorous.
——In the end, Oshima Saemon could only announce his surrender, and he quickly retreated.
Li Si swung his Ion Axe vigorously toward the surveillance camera, as if challenging his upcoming opponents in the main competition.
"If it’s not me going," 102 jumped up, "how can we beat the players in the main tournament? Who is our Samurai?"
"It’s a spirited robot," Xu Yang said, "Let it do its thing."
"Time to watch science fiction movies." Shallow Dream tried to break away from 102’s embrace.
"I have to watch too." 102 held onto Shallow Dream and continued to watch other clips from the qualifiers, feeling as if she was the one fighting in each battle, and her consciousness gradually accumulated muscle memory and neural reactions.
"How come you seem to have grown taller all of a sudden." It was only now that Shallow Dream realized 102 had grown faster than ordinary witches. When 102 had joined Nestor Corporation, they were the same height, but now Shallow Dream was noticeably shorter than 102.
"What does that robot we’re sending out fight for?" 102 ignored Shallow Dream and asked while watching.
"For the woman it loves," Xu Yang said, "It has to become stronger."
"Can robots love?" 102 was perplexed.
"In their own way, they can also establish gentle bonds with each other," Xu Yang nodded, "Don’t underestimate them."
Xu Yang checked the updated competition information. Li Si had indeed advanced smoothly and showed up in the eighth group of the eastern division of the main competition, confirming he would be the opponent of A40.
He relayed the information to A40.
At the moment, A40 was tirelessly practicing Martial Arts. Upon receiving the information, it started to train with Li Si as his imaginary enemy, determined to defeat him.
It wasn’t just about proving his combat ability; this grand Colosseum event was tied to too much.
For the company’s interests, it had to win.
For the path of Martial Arts it was pursuing, it had to win even more.
To uphold its own beliefs and the fighting spirit set at the factory, it must win!
A new message suddenly appeared in its inbox. Upon checking, it was from a character named Huang Feng.
Huang Feng?
A40 checked the character profile. Memories related to this individual were missing, suggesting an obsolete and eliminated character connection. A40 truly didn’t have the time to deal with such insignificant information and quickly blacklisted it.
It couldn’t allow irrelevant messages to disrupt the operations of its combat core!
Meanwhile, in Bibo City at the forefront of Black Fire Innovation, Huang Feng stepped back from the table with the terminal, spinning around several times in place. Her guardian Rolo mounted a sniper rifle at the window, targeting the drones sent by the Infinity Frontline Army of Kyoto Infinity, with similar waves of attacks coming constantly.
"They all die, all of them die!" Huang Feng kicked the ground to spin her chair faster, trying to blend her brain together in the whirl.
"Do you think Synthetic Humans can experience love..." Rolo’s hoarse voice said, "You’re wrong..."
"They all die!" Huang Feng yanked the terminal out with force, tearing it along with the cord, and threw it out the window while screaming hysterically. Then she squatted on the ground, hugging her head and crying.
