Chapter 255: Chapter 227: Deep Waters
Xu Yang went to visit 102.
"Why didn’t you let Farosa heal you?" he asked upon seeing 102’s pallid face. She had already been treated once by the auto-doc, only emerging after a two-hour surgery. Now she lay wrapped in a white cotton blanket on a hospital bed, equipped with a life sign monitor.
"Because the fight was so exhilarating that a more powerful magic circuit formed within my body," 102 explained, reaching out a hand to invite Xu Yang to sit beside her. "It seems to be within the flesh. If I were healed, the growth on this part of the body would also reverse, and all would be for naught."
"Then rest well," Xu Yang comforted her. "Tell me anything you need, and I’ll take care of it all."
"Look at this," 102 showed him her shoulder, which had been cut open but was now stitched together. "It was the Angel, sawing away. Too powerful. I thought I was truly impervious to swords and spears."
"That’s why you need to eliminate the enemy before they discover you," Xu Yang said. "In an exceptional battle, the advantage of the attacking side and pre-emptive strikes is too great."
"So that’s why Lila is the most formidable Witch," 102 realized with sudden understanding.
"Of course," Xu Yang agreed, "in future battles, like the one we had with Mireya where we have to stake our entire fortune, the combat core around which we must rally is Lila. She can sense and lock onto the enemy, combine it with ultra-long-range attacks, and eradicate them. Close combat always involves risks."
"Then I don’t have to fight anymore," 102 said.
"Even if you do fight, you should be carried into the battlefield by 101, skipping the process of approaching the enemy," Xu Yang contemplated.
"But sister can’t just jump into strange places, it could explode," 102 said worriedly.
"That’s also Lila’s job. If she can detect the target scene in advance and provide real-time feedback, there’s no need to worry about 101’s actions," Xu Yang said.
"Even without Lila, we still won this time," 102 said as she sat up from the bed, her body emitting the smell of blood and disinfectant.
"And you’ve become stronger, having been tested by a tough battle," Xu Yang said, stroking her hair.
"Lady Farosa said I could level up again soon, becoming a Dominator Witch," 102’s eyes sparkled with excitement. "Then I’ll be even more formidable."
"Currently, your limb strengthening is only developed for muscle, skin, and bone hardness," Xu Yang nodded. "If you can learn to temper your internal organs, that would be even more impressive. Once you strengthen your brain, you’ll become super smart."
"I’m so strong," 102 lay back down, content.
"Why isn’t 101 here?" Xu Yang asked, not seeing 101.
"Sister is feeling sad because she couldn’t help enough," said 102. "She always treats me like a child."
"This battle has had many effects..." Xu Yang spoke. "I’ve instructed Asa Katsuragi to seal the area where the Chainsaw Angel was, waiting for us to take over the cleanup and collect key items and information."
"Chainsaw Angel was resurrected by Farosa, and is being tortured now," 102 said.
"This..." Xu Yang doubted that the Chainsaw Angel would end up pleading for life or begging for death at the hands of Farosa. "You rest up here. I’ll go and check the situation."
Meanwhile, as Farosa desired, Miyazato Kazama helped her design a torture device and then left since Farosa wanted to enjoy the fun alone.
She kept the entire area to herself, sitting on a metal chair, dressed in white formal wear with a red tie, leaning forward.
Chunks of flesh and blood from the Chainsaw Angel were placed in a huge glass container, with the intention to resurrect the Chainsaw Angel.
The malicious Dilnai nurtured many angels, of which Chainsaw Angel was undoubtedly one.
It was unknown how much could be extracted from the interrogation of the Chainsaw Angel.
Farosa had prepared many things, such as whips, spiked iron balls, and various torture devices. She had seen other Chaos Witches do similar things, and now it was finally her turn.
She enwrapped the flesh with her magic power before casting the Law of Recovery.
"——All things return, life reverses, the red light flashes."
The Chainsaw Angel appeared instantaneously from within the glass container.
She was utterly terrified.
"Me? Me?" she exclaimed in shock as the Chainsaw Angel vividly remembered being blown to pieces by a gunlance, "How am I... resurrected? What is this? What power?"
The sight of Farosa filled the Chainsaw Angel with even greater dread.
"Hello," Farosa appraised the Chainsaw Angel. "I am the Witch Goddess."
"There’s no such god!" the Chainsaw Angel yelled. "Let me out!"
She flapped her great wings, but the glass container was too small to permit movement. Her halo was also gone, now lying amidst the ruins of the Apple Garden Nutrient Paste Filling Factory.
Without her halo, she couldn’t unleash her full power.
"Now, I ask and you answer," Farosa approached the glass tank, slowly unleashing the divine power of the sea.
The Chainsaw Angel saw vast currents surging from the ground, quickly covering the bottom of the tank, burying her feet, and the level was still rising.
"Go to hell!" The Chainsaw Angel punched the glass, unable to make it budge.
Farosa pressed a button on the device, and high-voltage electricity was released from below, coursing through the water, and even more so through the Chainsaw Angel’s body. She screamed miserably, shaking violently, a burnt scent emanating from her body as she slumped to the floor, wings closed, with many feathers igniting into flames.
So beautiful, so beautiful. Farosa thought to herself.
Watching the Chainsaw Angel shivering in the rising water, the Angel prisoner inside the glass tank brought Farosa a sense of pleasure. Now, with a turn of the knob, the Angel would be electrocuted to death.
Farosa’s toes curled in excitement. So much fun.
The Chainsaw Angel shook, looking at Farosa through the glass with fear as the only thing in her heart. The previous electric shock caused her to convulse continuously; she couldn’t stand up, her head was heavy, and the water continued to rise, now over her calves.
"Kill me, it doesn’t matter," the Chainsaw Angel looked down at the water.
"Dying is very hard," Farosa said, "your memory hasn’t deceived you, you did die, but I can reverse this process. So even if you are tortured to death, you can be restored, and the whole process repeated."
"...So cruel," the Chainsaw Angel looked up in despair.
"Just obey me nicely," Farosa said coldly, seated in her chair.
"How can you assure my safety... Even if I tell you the information you want, you’re going to kill me anyway," the Chainsaw Angel said through gritted teeth.
"Take it easy," Farosa said softly, "No rush."
The water continued to rise, now covering the Chainsaw Angel’s thighs as she struggled to stand within the glass tank.
The Chainsaw Angel silently stared at Farosa. Apart from Lord Dilnai, it was this woman before her who imposed such great pressure, inciting a genuine sense of fear in her.
"First," Farosa launched her initial question, "what is your relationship with Dilnai?"
"I am an Angel under Lord Dilnai," the Chainsaw Angel said softly, sounding weak, "...She created us to be her servants."
"How many such Angels are there?" Farosa mused.
"There are nearly a thousand Angels," the Chainsaw Angel said, "in Lord Dilnai’s plan, we were supposed to spread her gospel. But she completely changed, became very strange... but I am a very young Angel, I don’t know what happened in the past."
"Why did you come here while Dilnai is still in New Taixi State?" Farosa was still wary of Dilnai, who amongst the current Ancient Mystics showed complete hostility with no intention to cooperate. And her power was among the strongest of the Ancient Mystics.
"Because I wanted to do something, do something... different." The Chainsaw Angel looked down at the rising water, a bitter expression on her face, "She was always sullen, and... she treated us harshly, forcing us to overwork to meet her various demands, helping her secretly control every aspect of New Taixi State. So, I fled during an external mission, becoming a renegade Angel."
"I see," Farosa clapped her hands, "so to speak, you’re an enemy of Dilnai, right?"
"Yes! Are you also at odds with her? When I fled, I took quite a few things from Dilnai’s treasury." The Chainsaw Angel’s wings were soaked by the water, which had reached her chest, making breathing difficult, "And I have a lot of her intelligence—"
"Where is it now?" Farosa was curious.
"I can’t say." The Chainsaw Angel’s voice was hoarse, "I still... I still don’t know if you’ll kill me after I tell you."
"Kill? Not kill? Do you think there’s a difference between these two, considering your situation and my abilities? You will be revived, but I’ll have to finish playing this round first," Farosa watched intently how the water rose.
The deep water covered the Chainsaw Angel’s throat, then her chin; she stood on tiptoe in fear, but the water kept rising. She struggled in the water, pushing her head against the top of the glass tank, looking up, trying to breathe as much as possible.
"No... no... gurgle..." The water had covered the Chainsaw Angel’s face, filling the entire glass tank, she flailed painfully and desperately, bobbing in the water-filled tank.
"And then there’s the electric shock." Farosa’s hand hovered over the button, with the Chainsaw Angel’s body entirely submerged, a high-voltage shock would cook her, pressing it would make everything perfect, an absolute piece of art.
Xu Yang walked in and saw the situation, which was quite impactful.
"Stop," he intervened, "we’re not some weird organization, prisoners aren’t for our amusement."
Farosa pressed against the glass tank, watching the Chainsaw Angel’s frightened, suffocating face for a few seconds before slowly receding the water.
As the water level gradually fell, the Chainsaw Angel’s body collapsed downward, crushing her wings beneath her. She laid at the bottom of the tank, vomiting huge gulps of water, having experienced the greatest fright of her life, desperately watching Farosa.
"Are you okay?" Xu Yang observed the Chainsaw Angel, her gaze vacant.
"Her personality is no longer worth being treated normally," Farosa said with ease, "Chainsaw Angel, bark like a dog for me."
"Woof," the Chainsaw Angel said.
