Chapter 205: Chapter 181 Reunion
After signing the contract, Asa Katsuragi’s expression was solemn.
She left the hotel with a heavy heart, her men waiting outside to provide quick support, swiftly relocating to avoid being ambushed by the Chainsaw Angel Gang.
The Chainsaw Angel Gang was extremely irritated and if they took a desperate risk to launch a frenzied attack, it would be difficult to get out unharmed.
In addition to the contract signing, Asa Katsuragi also received a secret message from Kanako, just like before, she had to deliver the message to Xu Yang and discuss it with him in person without any room for turning back.
Seeing how serious Asa Katsuragi was, Kong Tai did not dare to ask more. He called a taxi and went back to Katagi District with Asa Katsuragi. Without his armor, he felt just as vulnerable as any mortal, which was a non too pleasant feeling. Any sniper could take his life with a single shot, so he immediately put the taxi in security mode, with bulletproof armor coming up to protect the glass.
The meeting was also attended by many businessmen and entrepreneurs from Anjiu City, whose security personnel were still maintaining order around the hotel. Asa Katsuragi listened carefully to the sounds around her, distinguishing between gunfire, footsteps, and electronic communication, not getting a whiff of threat but still on high alert. The taxi started, left Hui City District, reached Number 26 Highland, and only when they entered the Katsuragi Gang’s protected area did she finally settle down.
Standing at No. 1 Junction, she looked back at the bright lights of Hui City District and then hastily left, showing no interest in talking to anyone. Kong Tai couldn’t help but wonder what kind of message Asa Katsuragi had heard, but he couldn’t detect any clue.
After much deliberation, this message involved significant matters, and she had sworn never to disclose it to anyone. The whole process was agonizing, she had to keep completely silent. At her strictest, she now looked even more unapproachable.
The vagrants of Number 26 Highland, seeing her fierce and terrible form, consciously gave way, scurrying into arcades and bars, watching as she mounted a motorcycle and headed back to Suzuki Springs.
Xu Yang’s interest was piqued upon receiving a communication from Asa Katsuragi. She said she had top-secret information for him that related to the future of Nestor Corporation, like a ticket to a higher level that Xu Yang couldn’t afford to miss.
"Someone requests a meeting with you today at 4 P.M. in this place in Hui City District," Asa Katsuragi said with a tense face as soon as she saw Xu Yang, then handed him a small card.
The card carried an address written in handwriting, a mundane small park with nothing particular about it.
Xu Yang subconsciously searched for information on the park, Zomu Park, one square kilometer in area, tending to fall into disrepair due to lack of municipal maintenance, a playground for nearby children, the handwritten note offering no clues.
"What’s the purpose of going there? Today? Why the rush?" Xu Yang was immensely curious; Asa Katsuragi couldn’t have become like this without reason. She was like a kettle filled with steam, keeping all the pressure inside, but the lid was rattling, clearly indicating something was hidden within.
"I can’t say," Asa Katsuragi clenched her teeth, "I have taken an oath to invite you there. There are no threats, no dangers, just someone who wants to meet you, and you must go alone. I can’t say more. Every time I’m tested like this, I fail."
"It’s someone from Anjiu City, right?" Xu Yang guessed, "Did you win in the security contract tender?"
"I won," Asa Katsuragi nodded vigorously, "Now, please allow me to take my leave."
"Is it related to the person who previously offered gold?"
"I don’t know," Asa Katsuragi sighed.
Then it probably was.
"Go ahead," Xu Yang said, noticing her state, realizing that she wouldn’t be able to handle more questions.
Asa Katsuragi turned her back and left as if escaping, swiftly disappearing down the white corridor. She had never been scared by any enemy she faced in her life—only when delivering this particular message did she look utterly panicked.
Zomu Park...
Xu Yang repeatedly examined the handwritten address on the paper; although Asa Katsuragi had said there was no danger and that he must go alone, the situation was full of suspicions.
He did not doubt Asa Katsuragi’s loyalty, but he did suspect that she was being used by someone else.
Landing the position of a security contractor was undoubtedly advantageous, signifying logical control and development of Aizu City, further reducing crime rates as if sweeping away the bugs that corrupted the social foundation and caused disorder. However, it also meant further association with Anjiu City, and inevitably more dealings with the upper echelons in the future.
The problem was, with the "Century Pure Land" system overseeing, it was challenging for him to show up in Anjiu City. Once monitored by the system, one had to display a credibility code, which had to be tied to a legal identity, exactly what Xu Yang and his people lacked.
The more prosperous Anjiu City lay above, unattainable, and now becoming a major concern.
Xu Yang still decided to make the trip; Asa Katsuragi had conveyed the message through great risks, and he owed her a response.
He donned a cyber ronin outfit: the outermost layer was a black hooded plastic raincoat, his face hidden behind a red and black phantom-patterned mask. Beneath it, he wore a cultural T-shirt with a skull design, concealing nano armor that otherwise appeared simply as a vest. The "Well Tiger" pistol was tucked in his pocket, covered by black trousers. He wore black sneakers, his movements unassuming, nothing that would attract undue attention on the street.
Leaving Suzuki Springs, he sat in a taxi and headed straight for Zomu Park, all the while surveying the view outside the window.
Unlike when he first arrived, Aizu City had completely changed. The crisscrossed streets and alleys had become particularly peaceful, the number of pedestrians had doubled, and the gangs, once like packs of dogs chasing and biting people everywhere, had vanished. In their place were white banners inscribed with "Protecting Territory, Ensuring Peace" erected along the roads like the unique street trees of Katagi District, providing shade overhead.
The war had led to the relocation of industries, which in turn brought a great deal of investment to the infrastructure of Aizu City. Many districts were being renovated. Music could be heard everywhere, and the lighting was brighter than before. Previously damaged passages and circuits had now been repaired. With a service sector accounting for over 80% of the economy, most people in Aizu City lived off the food, retail, gaming, and entertainment industries. The frequent violence in the past had rendered economic activities meaningless. However, as order gradually returned, Aizu City saw a widespread recovery of production and consumption.
As the mastermind behind all this, the Nestor Corporation’s business prospects were getting better and better.
Xu Yang was preparing a series of investment plans.
He had his sights set on a large number of industries with a public service nature, including affordable healthcare, education, and welfare facilities, aiming to cater to patients, children, and the elderly and lonely.
In the plan for the next few years, his intention was to lay a solid foundation for this chaotic, deficient underground metropolis. Once the gangs were completely eradicated, the focus would be on reducing the environment conducive to the growth of crime, working on social transformation and repair.
And Aizu City was just the beginning. After that, the goal was to change the entire world, striving for comprehensive innovation and freedom. If his visit this time didn’t bring meaningful change to the entire world, then all the effort would have been in vain. He had to aim for the entire world as the target.
The taxi arrived at Zomu Park, and Xu Yang got out, silently observing from a distance.
The park was very tranquil at that moment, with only Senzoune there.
Compared to when she came to Suzuki Springs to deliver gold, Senzoune had hardly changed, only her attire, now clad in a tight black ninja suit with a full set of ninja tools on her back.
She was playing a catching game with her shadow clone, forcefully throwing a baseball which the shadow, acting as a catcher, would catch.
Ninjutsu... Xu Yang knew that Shinobi Village had inherited some mystical techniques.
Senzoune had high-grade implants installed, her upper arm muscles strengthened, allowing her to throw baseballs with speed and precision almost akin to a combat weapon.
On the other side of the park, Senzoune’s shadow clone replicated the abilities of the original, with a substitute organism in its brain that enhanced its reaction speed, enabling it to instantly predict and judge the trajectory of the baseball and catch it with its hand.
"Rinrin, don’t catch it so accurately," Senzoune complained.
"I already know how you will throw it," the shadow clone retorted, tossing the baseball back.
What was this game about? Xu Yang moved to a corner of the street, closed his eyes, and began to slowly check the surroundings, hacking into various cameras to scout the area. The park was quite deserted except for Senzoune playing catch with herself; not even a dog could be seen.
The canopy device simulated the light of dusk, empty cans escaped with the wind, rolling along the streets, and in the unmanned arcade, several terminal machines blinked hollowly, awaiting any customers.
The appointed time had arrived.
A black luxury sedan approached, and from it descended a noblewoman in a high-end tailored suit and high heels.
She was medium-built with light makeup, her black mid-length hair tied into a ponytail, and her expression calm, exuding an aura of inaccessibility. Her watch and tie were exceptional in design and exorbitantly priced.
"Has the guest arrived?" she inquired of Senzoune.
"Rin. I’m not sure, probably observing nearby, reluctant to show himself," Senzoune said, recalling her shadow clone, which disappeared like lightning.
"Xu Yang, don’t be shy to meet me," Kanako Kojima looked around with a light tone, "Let’s talk business, don’t you miss me?"
