Chapter 123 - 123 106 Ratfolk Embark on the Righteous Path

123: Chapter 106: Ratfolk Embark on the Righteous Path 123: Chapter 106: Ratfolk Embark on the Righteous Path Seeing Sally’s listless appearance, Xu Yang only felt that saying more was futile.

In his opinion, if a person’s true heart isn’t willing to save themselves, external force is hardly effective.

They would curl up into a ball, rejecting any advice.

However, if a person is determined to change, they need no reminders from others and will act with urgency on their own.

Xu Yang’s gaze swept around the interior walls of the room and landed on a map on the wall, which instantly captivated him.

It was a layout map of Yongsen Technology’s Underwater Mining Industrial Park.

The geothermal power station left by this company became Rat Village’s energy supply.

According to the map, the power station was originally meant to supply beyond the cavern to the other side of the industrial park.

This industrial park was not small in scale.

Yongsen Technology had invested in building a huge park at the bottom of the sea, which included not only the outmost geothermal power station but also an in-house research development lab, factory production lines, staff dormitories, robot repair stations, submarine mining fields, and garages.

They were ambitious, planning to carve out a career in the nearby seabed.

Just not far from this Ratman settlement, there was a complete underwater operational base!

If it could become ours, it would be the first asset of the new company.

Seeing Xu Yang staring intently at the map, Sally let out a snort of disdain.

“What are you thinking?” Sally sprawled on the sofa, rubbing her hair with her hand, enjoying the sensation of dizziness, “You…

staring at it, what are you thinking?”

“Yongsen’s Underwater Industrial Park is nearby?” Xu Yang pointed to the map.

“Have you put it to use?

It’s not a small scale.”

“Of course, I wish…” Sally got up, dragging a dirty blanket from under the sofa to wrap around herself and walked over to the map, “Why else would I bring this map back from outside the park?

Sometimes I fantasize about whether we could take over that place…

but we can’t.”

“Is it because it has its own security systems?” Xu Yang was curious.

“No, no,” Sally shook her head, “We used to think that way.

Look, we changed the power supply mode of the outer geothermal generators, instead of powering the industrial base, we redirected it towards our home, hoping to shut down the base’s defense systems.

Ugh…”

“What then?” Xu Yang pressed.

“Don’t rush me.” Sally crawled to a broken cabinet and pulled open a drawer, taking out a new pack of stamps, planning to indulge once more, the sensation being something she couldn’t resist.

She had been overdosing for several days now, lingering in a state between sleep and wakefulness, blood seeping from her teeth.

“Ah…” Guan Wancang stood at the door, seeing all this, felt endlessly sorrowful.

Every time he saw Sally’s decrepit state, it felt like a saw going back and forth across his aging heart.

He had watched Sally grow up; she was always smart, cautious, and responsible, until Matteo introduced her to the stamps, and her former dreams shattered, leaving her a misshapen mess.

Sally tore the stamps, about to lean in for a sniff, but the stamp suddenly restored itself to mint condition, and she only smelled the plastic of the packaging.

She felt something was off, thinking it was an illusion, and violently tore at the stamp again, only to have it seamlessly restore as if by magic.

She still held an intact pack of stamps, unable to indulge at all.

Sally was scratching irritably.

Xu Yang knew Farosa was to blame and turned his head just in time to see her reveal a cold smile.

Sally also realized something was amiss and turned her head to stare at Farosa: “You?

What do you want?”

“Was it not I who revived you with my own hands?

Where’s your gratitude?” Farosa walked slowly towards Sally, who instinctively backed away, disturbed by Farosa’s gaze.

She felt as if she were confronting a fierce beast, about to be devoured as the small Rat in an instant.

“You…” Sally, with her back against the wall and nowhere to retreat, felt dizzy and disoriented.

Farosa’s figure suddenly seemed towering in her eyes.

Her vision blurred, and everything seemed to sink into a whirlpool of colored shadows, like a painting splattered at random with paint, only the image of Farosa was strikingly clear.

Accompanied by an indescribable fear, she wasn’t sure if this was some sort of new Power from Farosa or the result of taking too many stamps, or perhaps a combination of both.

“I am the New God of the Witch,” Farosa stared down at Sally, “Your abilities are very powerful.

I would like to properly enjoy your loyalty.

I think you have much more to offer to me.”

“Stay away from me…”

“You have no other choice.” Farosa extended her hand, bringing it to Sally’s mouth, “Kiss my fingers and say, ‘I obey Farosa, the Witch Goddess.'”

“…What will I get?”

“I will enhance your Power, unlock your potential, indulge your desires.”

“You’re insane,” Sally hissed sinisterly, “this is my territory, and I’ll have my fellow Ratfolk slaughter you all.”

“Your pathetic kingdom and your wretched fellow Ratfolk,” Farosa shook her head.

She walked outside and kicked down the ladder connecting the high house to the ground.

It fell with a heavy sound, and the Ratfolk below squeaked chaotically, unable to climb up immediately, and scrambled to lift the huge ladder.

Sally’s face contorted, drool leaking from the corner of her mouth, she scratched her chest uneasily.

“Guan Wancang…” Sally looked at the old White-haired Rat with a hoarse voice.

To her immense disappointment, Guan Wancang chose to lower his head.

He didn’t know what to do now; he only knew that if Sally continued to indulge in “stamps,” she would eventually become emaciated and violently die in this dark, cramped Rat Village.

“Oh, queen of the slave race,” Farosa’s voice was low, continually applying pressure.

Her voice had a magnetic quality, pulling at Sally’s resolve, “Your people have been at war with humans for so many years and have gained nothing but the bitter fruit of defeat.

Your race will continue to be slaughtered until it’s completely wiped from this land.

Is this what you want?”

“I want…

stamps!” Sally screamed, her eyes bloodshot, her hands glowing slightly.

One hand sparked with an Electromagnetic Pulse, and the other was a dark green Magic Power of biological enhancement.

Electromagnetic Pulse again.

Xu Yang had suffered too much from this annoying thing and had to be vigilant.

If Sally’s Electromagnetic Pulse erupted, it was hard to imagine the consequences, although Farosa had the Law of Recovery as a safety net, suffering was certainly unavoidable.

“…We don’t want to hurt you,” Xu Yang said, “Don’t make any rash moves.”

“It was her…

she started…” Sally swallowed her saliva back down, the Magic Power flowing chaotically within her, her reason crumbling due to the erosion from the stamps was wavering.

“Poor thing.” Farosa estimated the time and then released her magic power.

—Law of Recovery.

In an instant, Sally tumbled to the ground, emitting bursts of delighted screams, covering her mouth and nose, her body convulsing, her eyes rolling back, her tongue hanging out.

“What did you do to her?” Guan Wancang was shocked.

“Reversed her back to the state where she was ‘high’ just before,” Farosa snapped her fingers, “Isn’t this convenient?

Just going back to a happy state without further harm to the body.”

After convulsing frantically on the ground and spitting out a lot of saliva, Sally struggled to rise, using a dirty towel to wipe her face, she looked at Farosa in pain and confusion.

“What have you done?” She gasped, the air seeming not to flow smoothly from her lungs.

“I can reverse your pain,” Farosa said, “You can enjoy your hallucinations as much as you like, and then I’ll reset your body to a healthy state.

This is my gift to you, as long as you serve me, become my loyal servant, and enrich my ranks.”

“On the other hand,” Xu Yang offered, “Sally, you can also choose not to listen to Farosa’s arrangements, not become her slave.

You can kick off ‘stamps’ and become a wise and proper leader, maintaining the order of the Ratfolk.”

“How do I quit?” Sally panted.

“With the detoxifiers on the table,” Xu Yang pointed towards the neatly stacked detoxifiers, sealed inside pale boxes, they looked far less appealing than the green packaged stamps.

Sally breathed heavily and in rapid succession.

Grabbing the dirty towel again, this time she wiped the nosebleed that had flowed out vigorously, and seeing the bloodstains and dirt on the towel and the filth she had spat out on the ground, Sally’s gaze became vacant.

Outside, the Ratfolk had managed to fix the ladder, and several angry big black rats with pistols were ready to climb up and fight to the death with Xu Yang and the others.

Sally crawled outside and told the anxious Ratfolk below that she was alright.

“You’ve given me two choices,” Sally sat at the doorway, staring gloomily at Xu Yang and Farosa, “Neither of you really cares about me, you just want to use me, exploit my fellow Ratfolk.”

“If you are all annihilated, there will be no value left to exploit,” Farosa made a sympathetic face, spreading her arms wide, wishing to embrace Sally, “Come to the side of your New God.”

“Stay away from us…” Sally’s throat was dry, “We’re fine…

here.”

“It’s hard to say what future you could have here,” Xu Yang pointed outside at the dome houses, mushroom fields, and working Ratfolk, “You should be helping the Ratfolk to get on the right track.

How many of them have died in a meaningless conflict?

They willingly obey you, treating you as their Leader, so whether you realize it or not, you are carrying an enormous responsibility now—to lead your people to the right path.”

“The right path…” Sally looked lost, “What is the right path?”

“Develop production, learn technology.

Educate the children, move towards civilization.”

“I don’t know…” Sally seemed perplexed, “…can everyone really do it…

if this is the Ratfolk’s right path, then what about you?”

“Us?

Our right path is to become conscious, accumulate Power, and then defeat all the giant corporations,” Xu Yang said with determination, “to take back the freedom, dignity, and wealth that we should have, all from the hands of capital!”
