Chapter 1202: Chapter 923: Laser Separates Conflict

Leaving the Anchorage POW Camp, Xu Cheng continued piloting the shuttle machine forward.

"Your piloting skills are the best I’ve ever seen, even better than those professional pilots with decades of experience." Laila continued to lavish praise on Xu Cheng.

"Hehe." Xu Cheng enjoyed being praised. She wanted to showcase her skills in front of Laila, piloting the shuttle machine smoothly and skillfully.

Laila leaned back comfortably against the seat.

"Fantastic! Riding in your shuttle feels great, unlike those bumpy military transport planes with constant noise. It feels as comfortable as a dream." Laila added.

The first compliment might be out of courtesy, the second perhaps a deceptive attempt to get close, but the continuous praise almost placed Xu Cheng on a pedestal. She nodded, feeling pleased in her heart. Regardless of her piloting skills, having a co-pilot who spoke so nicely was most important.

The next stop was the Yukon Mountains blockade line, where a unit designated as the 19th Freedom Brigade was stationed.

The 19th Freedom Brigade was a second-line unit composed of small company forces, mercenaries, and volunteers from the Eastern Hemisphere Allied Forces. Their equipment was average and not as professionally trained as those dispatched by major corporations.

Laila checked the onboard scanner of the Divine Radiance, which accurately captured the surrounding environment and modeled the terrain below. Prefabricated components, kinetic bulletproof barriers, and sentry posts spread out. The 19th Freedom Brigade worked swiftly to establish a considerable defensive stronghold, ambitiously setting up artillery.

"There should also be a Polar Military Base of the Lighthouse Core on the Yukon Mountains, so this is the frontline." Laila looked up again at the snow-capped mountains in the distant night.

"It must be troublesome for the troops to enter the mountains, right?" Xu Cheng said instinctively.

"Yes, so if I were leading, I would also place such second-line units like the 19th Freedom Brigade in the hard-to-attack terrains, relying on the topography to intercept the enemy. Meanwhile, the main forces would advance south along the open plains, directly piercing into the wealthy lands of the New Taixi State, targeting their industry and production capabilities." Laila spoke with spirited confidence.

She indeed carried the charisma of a crown heir, as if she could govern single-handedly even without Farosa. Xu Cheng admired her greatly.

"I thought we had already won." Xu Cheng assumed the enemy would surrender after Anchorage was captured.

"It’s far from over. The New Taixi State has 25 million square kilometers. We are just like ancient conquerors who have only just set foot on a corner of this continent. We need to be cautious and not rush things." Laila wisely advised.

"Not rush?" Xu Cheng pondered.

"Exactly, like hunting. If the hunter forces the prey into a hopeless situation too quickly, they will band together and unite against us. In other words, if we attack blindly and continue to provoke hostility from the New Taixi State people, we will get bogged down in a quagmire of war. But if we gradually divide them, internal discord will arise, making the conquest of New Taixi State much simpler." Laila wisely explained.

"I’ve never thought about these issues." Xu Cheng scratched her head.

"If the conquered shed tears in despair, the conquest is not a total success." Laila said calmly, "But don’t worry, this is something for me to consider."

Xu Cheng felt that Laila was remarkable and full of vigor. She was like a commander overseeing the entire war and discussing the future of humanity. Laila always looked down from above at the whole world, while Xu Cheng was like a small child gazing up from below.

The shuttle machine landed on the tarmac at the Yukon frontier. Xu Cheng pulled down the control lever, opened the hatch, and jumped down. It was cold here, and when she turned her head, she noticed Laila had considerately brought her a military coat.

"Here, don’t catch a cold." Laila personally draped the coat over Xu Cheng, who put it on, feeling the finely crafted wool ward off the chilly winds. She increasingly appreciated Laila’s goodness. Laila, hehe, Laila.

Around them were hastily constructed platforms, machine gun towers, and military camps. Xu Cheng felt a bit uneasy because people from the Freedom Brigade came rushing over, at least thirty soldiers, wearing mountain special operations uniforms and fur hats, appearing rough.

"The cargo has finally arrived!"

"Hurry up!"

"Take all these goods!"

"Open the cargo hold!" They pointed and gestured at Divine Radiance’s cargo hold, almost ready to attack.

"What are you doing!" Xu Cheng shouted angrily, "Don’t move recklessly! If you mess around, I’ll send you away!"

A military officer wearing a heavy mechanical helmet quickly approached, showing his credentials and indicating he was the commander of the 19th Freedom Brigade.

"In the name of the Yukon Mountain Station, I need your cooperation to unload the weapons and ammunition from the shuttle machine and hand over the cargo manifest to me." The officer said seriously.

"The manifest only lists 300 rifles, 40,000 rounds of ammunition, nothing else!" Xu Cheng handed over the manifest for the officer to sign.

"The information we have indicates there are another 300 rifles in your cargo hold." The officer did not sign the manifest but instead made a firm demand, "We need these weapons and ammunition because we’re about to assault the Lighthouse Core defense post on the Yukon Mountains before the second daybreak to catch them off guard. But we have too few bullets now. Please cooperate!"

"Half of the guns are for you, and the other half are to be delivered to the next station! I need to go to the Volangear Outpost! I have more cargo to deliver! If you’re going to seize them, I won’t give them to you!" Xu Cheng shouted.

"According to the database, the Volangear Outpost is manned by only one person. Why does he need so many guns? He can wait, but we can’t. You must unload all the cargo here, no discussion." The officer said harshly.

Immediately, he ordered his soldiers to prepare to pry open the Divine Radiance.

Two technicians came running, wielding rather violent electromagnetic unlocking devices, causing Xu Cheng to feel very threatened.

"I’m going to hit you!" Xu Cheng reached out, determined to stop them, her own breath hastening.

"This is war, not child’s play!" The officer raised his voice.

Messengers never abandon their cargo! Xu Cheng screamed internally but said nothing, instead, her expression darkened as she summoned her magic power.

Before she acted, Laila had already activated the Shining Wings behind her, soaring into the sky.

"Stop right there!" A blinding scarlet blaze erupted from her eyes, her violent magic power bursting out in an instant, slicing the ground straight open with a sizzling sound!

Swoosh!

Amidst the striking sparks and molten sounds, the soldiers of the 19th Liberty Brigade turned and retreated in fright, while others stared dumbfounded at the ground that was split open.

It was as if a colossal scythe from the heavens had slashed down upon it! Capable of reaping lives and destroying alloy without a hint of doubt! Those nearby trembled all over, only now beginning to feel fear.

If caught in Laila’s destructive beam, one might vaporize instantly, turning back into a heap of ashes in a split second!

Swift, deadly, terrifying!

The soldiers immediately revised their perception of these two envoys, those in the know instantly thought of the rumored existence of Laila Medusa, breaking out in cold sweat.

The destructive power of this laser exceeded that of a plasma weapon, with a horrifying damage efficiency that was not diminished by the air; just staring at it could destroy everything, this kind of magic made people tense.

"This guy..."

"Too powerful..."

"Is this the Battle Witch? She’s more powerful than anyone I’ve ever seen..."

Laila hovered in the air, the light in her eyes disappearing in an instant.

She glared at the officer: "I am Laila Medusa of the Witch Legion. These materials are allocated according to the ’Hundred-eyes Demon’ budget from the Supreme Command and then transported by the Envoys. Where and how much they should be delivered is all included in the agreement and distributed according to the military situations of various regions!"

"But—" The officer, upon hearing Laila’s name, knew things had taken a bad turn, but still wanted to argue. "We must make a surprise attack on the Yukon Mountains before dawn."

"If the calculation concluded that your station needs 300 weapons and 40,000 bullets, then that’s exactly what you need. If you’re planning to carry out a mission exceeding your armament budget, please... consider carefully whether your battle plan is too far-fetched!" Laila ordered sternly.

The soldiers’ anger and panic gradually turned into caution and doubt. The officer glanced at the soldiers beside him, knowing they probably couldn’t achieve anything noteworthy, so he shook his head helplessly, made a gesture, and signed the manifest, allowing the soldiers to load and unload their rightful share, not a single item more or less.

"Let’s leave it at that—Envoy." The officer nodded helplessly at Xu Cheng, "You are right, you are brave, and your friend is too. I wanted to take more guns for my brothers, but I indeed overlooked the original military orders, and I apologize to you."

Xu Cheng had not realized until now that she had been holding her breath in tension. Now, she finally let out a long sigh.

"Croak." Xu Cheng put her hands on her hips, "The responsibility of the Envoy is paramount!"

Laila turned around, descended, and landed beside Xu Cheng, nodding at her: "I told you that once we reached the front line, anything could happen."

The officer looked at the shuttle machine; inside remained five large cargo boxes containing 300 kinetic rifles and energy weapons, along with many batteries, bullets, and mechanical equipment.

"But Volangear Outpost really only has one person." The officer looked at these weapons painfully, "I hope that person can make good use of so many weapons."

"The manifest is not wrong!" Xu Cheng looked down at the manifest; yes, Volangear Outpost, a large batch of military supplies.

"Prepare to dedicate yourself to a long-lasting war, Lieutenant." Laila nodded to the officer and then returned to the shuttle machine with Xu Cheng.

Xu Cheng closed the shuttle machine’s cabin door, and before starting it, she reassured the Star Weaving Lady.

"That was really scary just now." The Star Weaving Lady sat on the console, displaying her holographic image, "You must protect me."

"I won’t let anyone hurt you." Laila nodded to the Star Weaving Lady.

"Croak." Xu Cheng felt that Laila had stolen her lines, but it didn’t matter. She pulled down the joystick, and the shuttle machine soared into the sky.

Volangear Outpost had only one person, yet needed so many weapons. Xu Cheng felt it was strange too.

"Who could it be?" Xu Cheng couldn’t help but ask on the way there, "Who needs so many weapons and bullets?"

"We’ll know once we get there." Laila appeared calm on the surface, but was actually curious about who would need to arm themselves with such a large amount of military supplies.

The shuttle machine advanced another 5 kilometers. It had now passed through the Anchorage area and arrived at the Xiwilia Region of the New Taixi State.

Volangear Outpost was located near an old hidden dam. The dam itself had ceased operation, the water level of the reservoir was very high, almost submerging both banks, forming a conspicuous giant lake, with some wild ducks sleeping on the lake, forming a large green ring, and the movement of the Divine Radiance was so quiet that it didn’t even startle them.

When the shuttle machine arrived, Xu Cheng called for someone from the Volangear Outpost to meet them. Soon, a tall, stunning blonde woman emerged from the outpost.

She was so beautiful, tall and imposing, her chest rising like waves, the Witch Armor design was compact, revealing smooth shoulders and pretty ankles. Xu Cheng had never seen such a tall, beautiful woman; she seemed to be from the New Taixi State.

"Hey, the goods are here." She waved her hand, "Just put them down, it’s not much."

"Croak." Xu Cheng ran over to hand her the manifest for signing, thinking this was a new beautiful big sister.
