Chapter 1017: Chapter 803: The Mystery of Dragon Gate Mansion_3

Wang Jingxuan slept very lightly and woke up about an hour later.

Lu Jing wasn’t sure where her sense of joy came from. Later, she realized it might have been the music, the background music of the Dragon Gate Mansion. This tranquil sound of celestial strings truly had the power to calm the mind.

The music accompanied them at all times. Lu Jing knew they were likely just one street away, or separated by a single wall, unwilling to show themselves.

They left the courtyard and continued following the direction of the Weak Water above their heads.

Lu Jing noticed the sound again — claws scraping across the palace, monsters lurking in the shadows, ready to move.

Just like the elusive music, the monsters hidden within the palace were impossible to locate.

They might have witnessed Lu Jing slaughter the flood dragon, and therefore grew wary, too scared to reveal themselves. Instead, they climbed and watched endlessly.

What Lu Jing lacked the least was Longevity Candy. If they dared show themselves, Lu Jing would chop them down.

After walking what felt like at least 10 kilometers, they finally found the next magical barrier in the infinitely sprawling Dragon Gate Mansion.

It consisted of eight doors, each engraved with strange and intricate characters.

"Secret Script?" Lu Jing paced among the eight doors, observing them carefully.

Li Qingyan sat on the ground, unmoving.

Wang Jingxuan blinked as she inspected the eight doors.

"Send a message," Wang Jingxuan said firmly, as though she were a completely different person, decisive and resolute in her decisions.

"We’ve gone deeper, the signal might... no..." Lu Jing took out her communicator, only to find that the signal was at full strength, stronger than ever before.

She quickly noted down the Secret Scripts on the eight doors and transmitted them using the Bagua cipher system.

This time, she did not dare take any chances; one copy was sent to Xu Yang’s workshop, and another to Lu Sizhou’s camp.

Within just three minutes, replies came through simultaneously on both channels, astonishing Lu Jing even further.

Attached were identical deciphered results.

The eight Secret Scripts on the eight doors were simple:

Open, Rest, Life, Injury, Block, View, Death, Shock.

"We must choose one door to break through. All these barriers lead to the same path," Lu Jing examined the eight doors. "The dilemma lies in whether to go through the Life door or the Open door."

"What’s there to hesitate about? All eight doors start with ’Open,’" Wang Jingxuan said decisively.

"...You’re right." Lu Jing sighed inwardly.

She was so proficient with the Bagua cipher that she had forgotten all eight doors begin from Open.

She swung the Four Points True Gold and broke through the door engraved with the "Open" Secret Script.

Bang!

The magical barrier was destroyed by Lu Jing’s Anti-Magic Power, leaving a clear path. At the same time, the other doors collapsed in unison, rubble flying everywhere, like a torrential rainstorm of stones coming from all directions.

Lu Jing immediately shielded Li Qingyan with her body, while activating her Cyclone Sword to slash down the stones flying in erratic trajectories, preventing any harm to her companions.

Many of these stones fell into the Dragon Gate Mansion, causing severe damage to the walls and gardens.

It took a while before the earth-shaking commotion finally subsided.

"Let’s go." Lu Jing saw that her companions were unharmed and nodded.

Not far now—the truth of the Dragon Gate Mansion was almost within reach.

Lu Jing could nearly see the end of the Weak Water Skyfall; the rumbling below seemed to plummet into a deep pool. This meant they were close to reaching the bottom of the Weak Water.

At this point, all the sounds of the Dragon Gate Mansion’s second level—the music, the mournful singing of women, the strange scratching of claws, the sound of scales rubbing, whispers—no longer mattered to Lu Jing.

She let out a breath of relief, instinctively looking back, and noticed that many of Dragon Gate Mansion’s walls had been destroyed. Those walls were interconnected; each wall was hollow inside, wide enough for someone to walk through.
