Chapter 1010: Chapter 800 Welcoming the Dragon-Slaying Convention
Mr. Web Monitor will definitely come to save us.
Even though I’ve forgotten many things due to taking Longevity Candy, I’ll never forget Mr. Web Monitor.
Lu Jing took her communication device from the coral platform.
She wore Flood Dragon Skin Tight Armor, her face encased in an Enclosed Helmet with only Protective Goggles over her eyes for visibility. Four Points True Gold and her Main Battle Rifle hung on her back, along with her Flying Sword "Cyclone".
Lu Jing’s two teammates, Li Qingyan and Wang Jingxuan, stood nearby, shouting at her, "Did you send the message?"
"Yes," Lu Jing replied briefly.
"Miss Lu will come to save us, right? Has she replied?" Wang Jingxuan asked expectantly.
"Not yet," Lu Jing stepped back.
There were originally 10 people; now only 3 remain. Lu Jing felt heavy-hearted, saying nothing.
She turned off the communication device to save power, and such tall and stable large coral was also quite rare within the Dragon Gate Mansion.
They wound their way down.
Along the way, they saw some of the expedition team members’ corpses, and they moved past without emotion, retrieving supplies from them because, without doing so, they too would end up buried in the Dragon Gate Mansion.
"They entered the Dragon Gate Mansion back in ’99, it’s been over fifty years," Wang Jingxuan checked the expedition members’ journals and makeshift tools.
"’Guoguang Industrial Company’," Lu Jing saw the nameplate of the company they belonged to.
"It seems like it was a famous company back then, producing many household appliances. By the way, Xiao Lu, wasn’t your dad also employed at a large industrial company in the south back then?" Wang Jingxuan asked.
"I don’t remember my dad. I know as much as you do, only bits and pieces," Lu Jing looked up.
The black water was dense, over a kilometer deep, and she couldn’t see anything clearly.
She roughly knew that Lu Sizhou, Liu Tianshi, and the other Immortals were all submerged, temporarily hidden in an Abyss Cave Mansion, unable to return to the human world, yet unable to penetrate deeper into the Dragon Gate Mansion, surviving precariously in the Weak Water, relying on Lu Jing’s group to continue exploring downward.
The dragon-slaying assembly... had failed.
With the strength of the entire team, they had truly captured a dragon a month ago, a giant Flood Dragon over ten meters long, and they thought they had achieved something significant back then.
But suddenly the Weak Water collapsed, the vortex surged, and the riverbank crumbled. All of them, including the dragon-blood-thirsty Lu Sizhou, fell into the abyss within the Heavenly River, imprisoned in the Weak Water.
The giant Flood Dragon also vanished, possibly hidden somewhere within the Weak Water.
Lu Jing had to find the true Divine Dragon.
If the true Divine Dragon wasn’t found, there would be no way to return to the ground; everyone would die within the Weak Water.
Lu Jing paced hesitantly deeper.
The Divine Dragon must reside at the bottom, beneath the Dragon Gate Mansion, dying but not dead, utterly enfeebled.
Initially, Lu Jing left a colored beacon every hundred meters to mark the return path, but she vastly underestimated the vastness of the Dragon Gate Mansion. It was filled with gardens, flowing water, rockeries, courtyards, and palatial halls, the vermilion walls inlaid with blue tiles. It was unimaginable what craftsmanship could construct such a wonder.
Lu Jing suspected the Dragon Gate Mansion was fundamentally a labyrinth continuously extending and replicating itself, like a smart algorithm designed to recreate the visage of ancient palaces, first generating roads, then copy-pasting additional courtyards, corridors, and red walls with green tiles. The Dragon Gate Mansion kept growing, and every time they passed through a long corridor, another garden or courtyard appeared beyond it.
It’s useless; no beacon is useful. There’s no way back.
The Weak Water suspended above their heads resembled a vast ocean lid. The mansion walls of the Dragon Gate Mansion were damp, indicating this place was unsafe as well. Once the Weak Water collapsed, Lu Jing and her group would die without a doubt, and Lu Sizhou’s group would be shattered too, only they didn’t know when such misfortune would arrive.
If they found the Divine Dragon, perhaps it could bring a turning point.
Escape in one piece.
"Can this be eaten?" Wang Jingxuan, leading the way, picked up a river fish from the ground.
Its bulging fish eyes stared at the three of them as if a corpse was cursing them.
"Watch out!" Lu Jing heard something stirring.
The side wall of the courtyard was shattered, and a Giant Crab crawled out, swinging its huge claw fiercely at Wang Jingxuan.
She screamed, scrambling to get out of the way.
Li Qingyan activated her Magic Power, her body swelling into a monster half-human, half-Flood Dragon; it was this transformative magic that landed her a spot in the special task force. Her armor automatically reshaped, expanding along her new skin to accommodate her twisted post-transformation appearance.
Lu Jing glanced up at the Giant Crab.
The monsters in the Dragon Gate Mansion were generally mutated sea creatures, this one at least eight or nine meters tall, its two gigantic claws car-sized, ready to crush its enemies at any moment.
With the spiked foot on its side, it repeatedly stabbed at the rolling, crawling, and scurrying Wang Jingxuan below, as if a stapler constantly gnawed, prepared to clamp her in two.
She screamed, dodging, while Li Qingyan lunged to wrestle with it.
Lu Jing lifted her Main Battle Rifle, aimed at the Giant Crab’s body, and began firing. A string of large-caliber bullets ricocheted off its shell, making drumming sounds but failing to hit the crab itself.
Did the crab have a head? Lu Jing could only see its unsightly pair of protruding stalk eyes on the edge of its shell, so she focused on controlling the Cyclone Sword with her Digital Mind to slash at its eyes.
The Flood Dragon form Li Qingyan transformed into was robust and powerful, clutching the Giant Crab’s rear legs with enough force to barely withstand its rampaging momentum.
